The drop mechanics of unique-equipped items from rare mobs?

I have a unique-equipped item (trinket) I picked up from an open world rare as I was levelling. If I want to obtain the same item but at a higher item level, do I have to delete the existing (lower item level) one I have before I will see it drop again?

Can I put the lower item level one in the bank or do something else with it, because I currently equip it and don’t want to delete it and then find I have to wait multiple days until I see it again on the rare mob. Or maybe it just won’t drop a second time?

This is in BFA in WOW Retail, if that matters

If i recall correctly, usually these are a one time get, but you could just try to kill said mob and see if it drops. You shouldnt have to delete the current one to get a new one to drop

I already killed it (on a different day), but nothing dropped. It says 26% drop rate on Wowhead for the trinket, but im not sure if that is the actual drop chance or includes people that might already have it and killed it again. Is the rare blue supposed to be a 100% drop for BFA open world rares?

I dont want to delete it and then it wont drop again. Any ideas where to find out for sure how the mechanics of this works?

Unique Equipped only applied to being able to equip more than one of that particular item at once.
It has no bearing on whether or not it will drop again or not.

I see Rings drop in Weekly quest rewards all the time that are the same as one I already have.
Just vendor the worse one you have.

I do think there should be fewer Unique Equip items in game, I don’t get why stat-stick rings are defined as such so often.
I can see it with a rare(ish) Trinket that has a special proc / on-use to an extent.

Im talking about the actual drops from the rare mobs, not the rewards for world quests that may involve killing the rare mobs. Technically they are quest rewards not drops?

Depends on the rare and from what expansion, different expansion means different rare rules.

I’m talking about BFA. I stated that in the first comment. I suspect there is at least one mechanic at work maybe more. Rares seem to drop their blue on the first kill (possibly 100%?). I’ve not seen any drop their blue a second time when you already have one on you. I guess I can test this myself by getting and then deleting items on an alt and seeing what happens - but that will take multiple days. I thought someone might just know how it worked

So i tested a bit for a couple of days on some characters and atleast from legion onwards i couldnt get the same item to drop from the mob again after attaining it the first time
