Basically anyone who deems another player inferior because they might not be as “good” as the elitist in a “video game”.

You’re a casual? Go Play LFR… No wait you don’t get to do that either I want it to be removed because it belittles MY shiny pixels in purple letters!. Oh and yeah! LFG made WoW antisocial!"

That kind of person.

elitists are the worst!!!

I’m semi-elitist. What of it?

I kind of fall within this category T.T

Well I’d call myself pretty much an elitist regarding windwalker and PvP.

In nature I always play games to try to have the most success and try to perfection things I do. Be it PvP in my case or M+ if i’d start playing it.

It’s just subjective how people see fun behind a game and there are basically 2 kind of people in any game either elitists like me as an example or Casuals who play the game mostly for fun, cosmetic etc ignoring any balance regarding their specc because it doesn’t matter to them as long as they have fun.

People also do need to understand the definition of elitist which are not the people btw who want LFR removed as elitists usually don’t care about anyone else than themselves.

The definition is literally how I described myself. And for sure I am the minority in the forums elitists usually don’t waste their time here because it’s known that blizzard does not care about any feedback regardless of casual or elitist.

Otherwise the forums would look similar like the OW Forums where people would discuss balance regarding the top players (how the game is meant to be played).

I am also in the stance this game should purely be balanced behind top tiers but this is just my opinion

I’m elitist in the sense that I believe in meritocracy, but I’m not an elite player by any metric. I still think that elitism is bad for WoW, because the majority of profits come from the average player, and that a busyness developing for a niche market has to compensate with a huge price increase.

I dont agree with your last sentence. I think wow should be belanced around average joe who clears heroic and kills maybe half of the bosses on mythic by the end of patch and let top tier plaeyrs go bonkers with their builds. This game isnt as complex as lets say dota, not even remotely tbh, and I think games like dota should be balanced with top tier players in mind.

Blizzard could easily go away from dps check meta and focus more on doing mechanics properly. I think ToS in legion was a good example of an amazing raid with lots of mechanics you had to do instead of burning bosses.

Here’s my take on it.

I’m not going to be ‘elitist’ in a random normal dungeon while leveling or in LFR or the like. That content is for everyone. You more or less expose yourself to it by signing for the dungeon finder. Unless people are deliberately screwing the group over, they’re free to do 20% of the dps they could be doing. However, when it comes to more organized pugging (aka not using the dungeon finder) I personally only sign when I am certain I can carry my weight. I expect the same common courtesy of others. The problem is that there are a lot of people who will sign up for something they are woefully unprepared for, resulting in a carry. Now, I don’t care if they were expecting a carry or simply overestimated their own gear/skill: fact is they were not capable of doing what they signed for. I give those people the boot/get them booted out. If it’s elitism to refuse to carry a stranger that would almost certainly not return the favor then I’ll be the best elitist around!

I know you for a long time so don’t worry bro you are forgiven but randoms in game i meet like that they shall feel my wrath.

I luv u :sparkling_heart:.

elitist is a person who deems his opinion has more weight based on his own methodology of ranking.
even the worst possible player can act as an elitist and the rank 1 player can be nice and adequate

Those that are unemployed with too much free time and look down on those who have real life responsibilities like paying bills that dont have as much free time.

Seeing elitists fail is the most fun thing to see tho

I think instead of focusing on hyperbalance blizzard should focus on making things fun first and foremost.

Id say about a 5% discrepancy between the best and the worst dps spec while still retaining fun, and some diversity of skill should be the target.

Ofc if they can get less discrepancy than that, good, but not at the expense of how fun the class is.

I can guarantee that in 4 years people while talking about bfa will be like “dude do you remember raids full of tanks destroying nyalotha or 29 dks and 1 mage or 20 fire mages destorying mythic”. There were some cool things added in bfa but I am fairly sure people will look back and talk about how unbalanced 8.3 was for the most part.
