In the Shadowlands alpha, we’re finding more and more mentions of The First Ones, who are the Xel’naga from StarCraft. Apparently, they came to be before the titans, and possibly created the titans.
Takes that name Xe’ra as a First One are banned because they’re wrong.
“The Xel’naga were the first, born within the Void. Their sacred purpose was to cultivate life and perpetuate the Infinite Cycle”
Artanis from StarCraft. I am telling you, it IS the Xel’naga. And in 10.0 we are going to the KORPULU SECTOR
Legends speak of all powerful gods who created the Xel’naga. Most of these legends have been lost to time. Some people however, still revere these entities. Their names whispered in dark rooms and dusty abodes. Others are still wary of them, lest they anger the almighty beings. They are known by many names, unfamiliar to some, but the most common ones are surely to be immortalized: “Chris Metzen and James Phinney”.
Because that totally isn’t going to further make players confused and disinterested as Azeroth and the player races become increasingly tiny and pointless…
As for the First Ones being the Xel’naga:
The retconned Xel’naga in StarCraft 2 are the creators of reality, essentially tremendously powerful Eldritch Horrors who create each new universe; that universe then springs its own Xel’naga (what the Protoss and Zerg were intended to one day become) and they then go on to make a new universe when the past one dies.
So, if The First Ones are the Xel’naga, that doesn’t put WarCraft and StarCraft in the same universe, but rather in the same Multiverse - which we’ve already seen with StarCraft cameos in WarCraft 3 and WoW, and most notably Heroes of the Storm is a full-on Blizzard Multiverse Mixing Pot.
If this means we’ll get access to the alternate timeline where Lei Shen’s Mogu Empire and Queen Azshara’s Kaldorei Empire survive into the present day and are at war with each other, I’m totally for it, because that’s way more interesting than the Horde-Alliance conflict.
That’s just life in general, though. Especially with Shadowlands, why even bother much in life if you go there for eternity? It’s all tiny and pointless!
I agree since I recently been into Starcraft alot I can see the correlation between the two there must be someone who created the Titans someone akin to the Xel Naga gods but yes I will play the hell out of the StarCraft like wow expansion.
In fact, they’re becoming more and more important. We have become so great that we need to get out of this universe to find a challenge to match our power. Yes, it was great fun when we were just grunts kicking peons awake, being nobodies and having to prove ourselves. But since then we have killed Deathwing, Argus, N’zoth. Gods bow before us. We aren’t becoming tiny. We are becoming greater than creation.
I also wish to relive this fantasy of being in a new world where I am insignificant. Classic failed to deliver because the world wasn’t new. At this point, I’m just waiting for World of StarCraft.
We had a Panda expansion and we can play as pandas. Getting a protoss and zerg allied races would be cool and not necessarily out of character.
