I will probably going get a lot of disagreeing opinions regarding this(especially from horde mains) but the 25 kill horde quest which now awards 400 loot has put alliance on a warpath. Never thought I could see alliance just rampaging through horde’s Dazar’alor and hunting horde. Even if its only temporally and it will end once “allies have their quest done and back to wm off”, I still found it quite fun. Had more fun on this wild “horde hunt” than the 400 item I got in the end.
Just another different, less popular opinion regarding the ally’s kill horde quest.
Oh I love the idea of the quest and I would love to participate. I’d even join groups after I’ve gotten my quest done. But I’m Horde, and switching to Alliance for that quest only is a bit too much sadly…
It’s fun, for you. That’s not your fault. Grouping up and WPvPing is brilliant fun. It’s the fact that its just a zergfest fiesta and that Blizzard hasn’t actually made the quest need much effort. Thats the problem! ^^
I don’t think the Alliance should be given such a lame carrot to entice them to actually fight. There should be more progressive rewards that require actual effort.
You cannot do the quest but you can join a Horde group and counter the Alliance. WPvP is fun, and the few times you don’t encounter a full Horde raid, but groups, it’s fun to push and pushed back!!
It must be lots of fun to zugzug down horde, and feel powerful too, for a 400 item that is very well earned, well done! Did you get all of those kills at the flight path too?
Loving WM! Gear and bonus, not bothered. In it for the killing hehe.
I agree on have progressive rewards, remove pve incentives. And would love some form of leaderboard system. But fun anyway.
Yup, wm is all about player choice. Whether alli or horde, outnumbered? Use lfg, guild, community, etc. to retaliate. Horde have an advantage with a greater pool of players in eu wm. That advantage can be used, or not. Can’t be bothered grouping? Your choice. Do whatever is fun for you
Should alli get extra reward? Ideally they shouldn’t need it. But before 8.1, wm had a bigger problem with horde ending up on unfun overflow shards. Seems fixed. I have zero evidence, except sudden halt to complaints about no alli to kill. Can still happen maybe, but seems less of an issue now. Lack of potential victims is a big problem. Being outnumbered, who cares, group up.
Hey, no system is perfect. There’s a balance of advantages and disadvantages, and it has created a rich open world pvp experience. WM is all about choices, having the upper hand, reacting to situations. Love it!
WPvP is fun indeed, but… why should we bother though? Do you get what I mean? The incentives the Horde has beyond liking WPvP are very weak, and the desire decays even further with the fact that the Alliance actually have better incentives.
There isn’t really that much point in creating a counter-group when the other side is still benefitting and benefitting more besides.
Well, you do it first for the fun and then for the rewards. I haven’t turned WM off since BfA prepatch despite being vastly outnumbered.
Don’t let a crappy reward ruin your fun. I can tell you personally that I have scrapped EVERY piece of gear I got from the 25 man kill quest, except today that I got 400ilvl boots that gave me 0.1% improve in sim from the 390 ones I had.
So then why has Alliance got this 30% bonus and free ilvl 400 piece then in the first place?
Do it first for fun! Alliance were never truly outnumbered, they had the people to do it, but they cried that there was a problem when there was non.
It’s the fact that they are getting more stuff for no reason at all, when it’s clearly no hassle for them to bring in numbers and actually outnumber Horde in many phases and shards.
You hordies just gotta come one by one to our 4x 5man-party hotspot and die in few globals. Contribute to my quest with your death and get me free hc raid gear thanks!! Then I can turn wm off for rest of the week.

The fact that Alliance is ganking flightpoints and getting rewarded for it is just sick, it shows what alliance truly is…a bunch of cowardly bullies who don’t dare to take on the horde 1 on 1…yes, sure call me oldschool
Horde outnumber alli in eu. This gives them an advantage with lfg. Alli often would be outnumbered on a shard pre 8.1, not always. Horde also suffered more with overflow shards pre 8.1, no alli to kill.
The incentives are just to get more alli on wm, to try and even things up more.
I usually scrap my wm rewards too. Usually not an upgrade. The 400 item is just blizz stepping things up, trying to get a good balance of each faction. Need more alli!
The issue on the forum is, different player types with different expectations. WPvPers, mostly just want to kill other players, regardless of reward… a WM PvEer is mostly in it for rewards, may not even like pvp. Both have a right to wm… but wm is primarily for pvp… this is a pvp forum.
While I agree on the fact that horde should also get some reward not just the allies. The 1v1 “honor - courage” thingy simply baffles me. Maybe that’s just me being a newbie to wpvp since I am no old-school PVP veteran, but why do some people want force arena rules into wpvp?
It’s world PVP. People make their own rules. If I want be a in a band of cutthroats which raids a helpless village then it’s a perfectly legit reason for PVP. Same as I don’t blame the 5 rogues who ambushed me while I was dealing with a quest. I was alone and they were looking for an easy prize. I fit the bill perfectly…
If people want to prove their awesome PVP skillz in fair and even pvp then don’t we have arenas for it?
Vaëyn, mate, I mean all the respect in the world, but Regional. Population. Does. Not. Matter.
You will never see the entire Horde or Alliance population in one shard. The Shard will fill up far before this. These shards will mainly fill up with Alliance, because they have the incentive to actually put War Mode on.
Not to actually play War Mode, but just farm for their free ilvl 400 pieces and the 30% bonus. They are not here to actually just War Mode. That was what we originally had - each side had 10% and each side clearly had an equal opportunity to enjoy it.
There should be incentive on both sides. What is the incentive for Horde? Get a smaller bonus even while outnumbered while the other side has numerous 25 Kill Quest Zerg Groups, an “outnumbered” buff of 30% and easy free gear.
The Alliance didn’t have any problem stopping them using the 10%. They didn’t feel it was worth it. Why should Horde live with it too?
Stepping things up for what? Balancing what? Alliance are getting free competitive gear, the incentive to actually turn on War Mode and are now outnumbering Horde on shards, with groups and with better gear… come on dude, that’s just unfair.
The shards themselves are balanced, it’s lfg that unbalances them. Players from other shards phase in and out. Horde have an advantage, because of easier cross realm group forming via lfg. That’s the issue, more horde with wm on eu. These incentives are trying to correct that.
There’s advantages and disadvantages on both sides.
Blizzard tech balances shard population so there’s the same amount of Horde and Alliance.
5 man Alliance groups go to a popular questing point and camp it for kills for their weekly ilvl 400 piece (equivalent to drops from a +10, or 2100-2399 rating, or Heroic raiding)
Solo Horde players are scattered throughout the area doing world quests and getting ganked repeatedly.
Blizzard and Alliance think:
A. It’s fine since the populations are balanced in that shard despite the fact that the Alliance population is concentrated into very small areas and Horde is spread out B. Horde should group up like Alliance and fight them despite having no incentive to do so. Essentially a giant waste of time and not realistic to expect anyone to do.

The Alliance Regional Population is still large enough to accommodate filling a shard. They had the exact same initial bonuses as Horde, they could just not be bothered to use them.
The incentives are not correcting this. What is the incentive for Horde to play War Mode now? Get farmed by Alliance Gank Squads while those Alliance still get 30% bonus and ilvl 400 gear?
What advantages does Horde have? Regional Population will never be brought to bare, so it’s not an advantage. Alliance has the incentive to play, the incentive to group, the bonuses and the gear
Exactly, whats the point in fighting if no matter what you do, Alliance are getting a reward. If you fight them, you feed them.
Even if you love WPvP, its still outputting when the reality is that “enjoyment” is the only reward while the other side get to enjoy themselves and be rewarded for it.
