The game disapears all the time - need to download all over again multiple times

Hi all,

I am now installing/downloading the game for prop the 8th time in the past couple of weeks. I was playing this morning, put my laptop on sleep while at work. When i return home and log onto battlenet i get the 54GB remaining and the download starts all over again. Its like the game disapears from my hard drive.

The weird part about it is that it becomes playable after like 1 min downloading but i still need to finish the download all over again to play at optimum.

Has any1 else been experiancing it? It just started like 2 weeks ago, downloading >50GB multiple times is ridiculous!

Yes, I have experinced that a lot.

It stopped when I logged out of my b.net and logged in/opened b.net again as an admin.

I found a page where someone wrote that helped them and tried, it helped for me as well.

Hey Ispam,

Can you check the location that you install the game into? Click on the blue Blizzard logo at the top left of the Blizzard App, and click on Settings. Go into the Game Install/Update section and check the Default Install Directory and Folder Used for Game Play.

Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

Again now… downloading 54GB :frowning:

Yes it is: Default install directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle. net\Battle.net.10457\

Folder used for game play:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle. net\Battle.net.10457\World of Warcraft\

Help… please.

Try installing launcher and the game outside Program Files and see if that helps.

Again, this morning.

when tried to click the .exe ice instead of the battlenet luncher this came

“This folder does not contain the correct version of this game. Please check the installation path and try again.”

Try to right click on your main wow folder and uncheck read only. It may help.

Nothing works…

… blue?

Do you have some third party anti-virus installed? If so, try disabling/uninstalling it.

You can also use program like Windirstat to verify that the game is actually gone and not just in some weird location for some reason.

No anti-virus installed.

Small hard drive so the game could not be on other location - i would not be able to download it 2x since my drive is so small.

Interesting, have you tried to install it to another physical hard disk (eg. external USB 3.0 drive for that)?

If I were you I’d try to rule out actual hardware fault which could cause the issues. Eg. check RAM using Windows Memory Diagnostic, try external drive, check hard disk diagnostics etc.

You mentioned using sleep mode in the laptop - does the game disappear if you shutdown computer normally and fully without putting computer to sleep/standby or hibernate? While unlikely it is possible something in your hardware configuration is broken (eg. drivers) causing dataloss when computer is put to sleep.

Malfunctioning SSDs can also have weird symptoms in case you have are using SSD.

Besides these I don’t have any other advice as I haven’t personally encountered such a problem.
