The Gold conundrum

Things in game are getting more and more expensive. You need about 10 million gold to buy all the new vendor mounts in BFA however to most that’s just a number that is unobtainable.

I sell things on the AH , like most anything under 1k gold sells. Over 1k is a bit harder. Anything over 10k is much harder. Anything over 100k oh boy that can take weeks or months.

There seems to be a large disconnect from the 3% who has 1 or several gold capped characters and the general player base. Why is Blizzard making content available from Vendors to appeal to that 3% only ?

Why is 1k gold considered cheap and not 10k gold ? With gold prices inflated so high , players should be walking around for hundreds of thousands of gold right now. But they don’t. Decided to ask everyone in the 12 guilds I have chars on multiple realms. Made sure they were 120. They all said they were sitting around 30k-70k gold each.

Hence the disconnects how on earth are those people ever suppose to afford a Marsh hopper from Nazmir , when these players play 4-5 hours a night. Sitting around those numbers.

If you’re going to make exclusive mounts for 3% Blizz just make a new currency for them so those prestigious mounts can only be afforded by them. Lower the price of common mounts so the regular player can afford them.

You said there was a gold problem early BFA i can tell you now that gold problem is gone. People are broke. Don’t let 3% of the playerbase Skewe the data.

Do you guys find an item over 10k cheap ? Or do you find that pricey ?
Have any of you bought all the BFA mounts ? Have any you given up buying rep mounts because they are just so expensive … why bother attitude has set in ?

Why would I? On this character I have a flight form, instant and can carry another person. On my other chars I have a 2-seat flyer too. I would never use them, so no point buying them.

By that logic, we don’t need mythic difficulty, m+ should only go up to +15 and arena rating above 1.8k shouldn’t exist.

I am fine with not having everything. Isn’t choosing for a mount/cosmetic great? Otherwise everyone is having everything. I dont have that 500k dino or any frog. totally fine

The prices do seem to be getting more and more ridiculous. I think the problem is some make lots of gold, if you can boost, or are good at playing the AH etc. Then you can have multiple gold capped characters. Then there is another part of the player base that don’t gold farm at all.

I’m still missing quite a few vendor mounts because the price is so high and although until the deadline goes for the Longboi I don’t want to spend any of it, just in case I can hit that 5m. I’ts looking very unlikely as I’m sat at 2.2m. I would have been a lot closer if I’d have known from the start the mount was going to be removed and I would never have bought anything until I had it.

I couldn’t actually buy the big yak during Mists of Pandaria and I went back an expansion later to get it. I never got the 2m spider mount but that one doesn’t seem to be getting removed. I hope in future if mounts are to be expansion limited they let us know from the start.

I should be able to go back later and buy all the expensive BfA vendor mounts I don’t have. Unless they start removing those too

I think that’s were your (and many others) problem is.

You don’t have to obtain everything. Neither mounts, nor achievements, nor toys etc.

Once you start caring only about the things you really like, WoW becomes so much less stressful.

Made around 120k today, and the day is not even over yet. Most people could easily achieve that, but for some reason people are just repulsed by farming an hour or two.

Economy would be much better if people would finally learn how to make a bit of gold.

You can make real money with writing guides and videos about how you do that

I think that market is oversaturated as it is ^^

Tho if I would make videos in my native language… There is a market there to fill.

It depends on the realm. I belong to a small group of 3 realms and, while some things sell quickly, I have a guild bank full of stuff that just won’t sell though it would elsewhere.

No, you don’t have to but for some it’s an important part of the game. I collect mounts. I would love Longboi but there’s no way I could ever raise that much gold on my realm and with the time I have to play.

But that market makes youtube videos that works in no way. Or requires to be a vanilla player with having access and professions etc of old expansions.

Some things are not meant for everyone to buy. Would I like the AH mount, yes, would I be able to buy it, no.

Selecting the appropriate realms is part of the gold farming knowledge^^
I carefully analyzed the 3-4 realms I’m present, before making my chars there.

There’s nothing wrong with trying to collect them all. But I know some people that stress out so much about mounts and stuff becoming unobtainable that WoW just feels like chore to them and they’re not having fun anymore.

I still believe the are making the Brutosaur unobtainable to push Token sales * puts tinfoil hat on*

I play alone, I don’t use the AH and I have purchased every gold mount in the game (I believe) to top that I didn’t experience WoD as I am a Legion baby. I currently have 200K gold (I got the three ‘hoppers’ yesterday.) I don’t know what people do, honestly I passively gain 80-120K a week just playing the game. Is there some gold sink I don’t know about?

And no I don’t buy tokens.

Is there a passively goldgain by “just playing”?

Food, flasks, pots, mana potions, invis potions, warscrolls, fish feasts. Just playing the game costs me a lot of gold.

There must be as my gold goes up each week by logging in and doing ‘stuff’. Also I am self sufficient on consumables as I have maxed professions across my characters.

Though I’d add I don’t do anything at a high level (HC pugger and stop once curve, M+ 12ish, no real PvP)

Even if they don’t do this with the brutosaur. They definetly pressure people into buying their ingame shop mounts by putting a timer on them.

No, really not. If it was that easy then many more would do it and if many more did it then the economy would slump, mat would become so cheap as to not be worth the time.

I have ~500k gold and a lot of that came from a couple of Potions of Rapid Mind I had lying around my bank and at some stage with Allied Races they became worth over 100k each.
I have never really farmed gold, don’t grind out mats, don’t run old raids purely for gold, never ran the mission tables overly much.
My motto is a penny saved is a penny earned. I just don’t spend my gold unnecessarily. The most expensive mount I have is the Tundra Mamoth which around 16k. but it had a USP of a repairman on board.
I don’t have the yak, 120k gold for a mount I’d never use for transport seems like a waste. I wouldn’t buy the longboi if someone gave me 10m gold, I just could bring myself to blow that much gold on something that is really only a +1 to my mount collection.
I have very few of the mounts that cost 10,000g. This also seems like quite a lot of gold for a +1 to my mount collection. To justify buying one of them justifies buying all of them which would break my bank leaving me with no gold for repairs or whatever else gold is used for these days.
A mount would need to be particularly attractive and / or useful for me to buy it at that price.
To me 1000g seems like a reasonable price for most mounts.
