The Group Finder is pretty neat

Why not? If your main argument in favor of LFG tool is “you can do custom RP events via Discord too”, then you can do this just the same without that tool, the tool doesn’t really help you in any significant way.

That doesn’t make them “anti-social” people. By that logic, does a person qualify as “anti-social” everytime they do a quest in solo rather than trying to form a group?

I am not arguing for anything. The LFG tool is part of Wotlk classic. I am just pointing out that I like it and that it have good features that will help social dynamics.

It’s almost like you take it like an insult that someone doesn’t hate everything that isn’t RDF

Yes it does. If you choose not to be social, you are by definition anti-social. That is the meaning of that word.

Yes

I suspect that you are confusing anti-social with Social Anxiety and similar things or the legal term of antisocial.

When I say Anti-social I mean this:

“avoiding spending time with other people” or in this context, socializing with players you are grouped with. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that. I do it all the time to. But it is pretty anti-social to be in a group with other players and not socializing.

And make it much easier to gatekeep people in later phases. Excellent idea.

No, I just find silly that, of all the reasons one could possibly have for wanting this tool over RDF, you’d pick something like “custom RP events” that this tool doesn’t really help in any significant way with. You can do them just the same even now in TBC, no difference whatsoever.

Problem with socializing in dungeons is that people playing dungeons, 99% of the time, aren’t on voice-chat, and since I’m already using my hands to actually play the game, I’m not gonna stop to write some banter in the middle of a pull (and I’d hate it if my team mates did). By contrast, raids are almost invariably on voicechat (at least the ones forming on Discord, the ones popping up only on LFG chat are mostly crap anyway), which allows for an actually fulfilling social experience. And before you say “you can organize dungeons on Discord too”, almost nobody does, and for good reason - if one went through the trouble of scheduling an event ahead of time, might as well make that event a raid instead. Dungeons are just filler activities one does when they have time, in-between raids. Or at least that’s how most people treat them.

And that’s not considering all the other ways in which the raid experience is superior (more interesting encounters, more diverse group comps allowing you to play your character optimally, better loot, etc).

This is called a straw man argument.

“a misrepresentation of an opinion or viewpoint, designed to be as easy as possible to refute.”

The thing you are refuting is not something I or anyone have said or even indirectly meant.

We are getting this new LFG tool in Wotlk Classic. I tested it. I like it. That’s all. If you don’t like it and have comments, you are welcome to join the discussion about the new LFG tool. Im not really sure how a non existing RDF is relevant. The LFG tool exists in the game right now.

If I have to comment on RDF it is this. RDF has nothing to do with the LFG tool. If we get RDF or dont get RDF, we will still have this LFG tool. The LFG tool is a real thing that actually exists in the game.

You are surely spending a lot of time arguing against socializing in this recreation of a classic mmorpg. Weird.

Yes, because devs are complete morons, and I do look forward to the backlash this entire thing will cause once WotLK launches and all the people who haven’t kept up with news realize there’s gonna be no RDF.

In fact, just to show how out of touch devs are with the game, they’re going to add even “challenge modes” to dungeons that give additional rewards in later phases. You know, just to make the gatekeeping even MORE intense than it otherwise would be. Good luck gearing an alt once ToC or ICC come around.

I’m spending a lot of time arguing against a tool that reduces my opportunities to socialize in raids, by making it harder to gear up my alts in dungeons. So yes I’m arguing against this tool because I do care about ACTUAL socialization in this game.

May I ask, why are you playing classic?

If you want to raid then retail is objectively better and you can spam dungeons and gear up alts super easy. Why are you playing classic?

We are talking about faceroll dunegons here. They are super easy and quick to run and you can get prebis in a couple of days. If you are already in a raiding guild surely there will be other people gearing alts you can group with? It is really really easy to run wotlk dungeons. Its only really a huge difference while leveling. People will absolutely use gearscore etc for pug raids, but for wotlk heroics?

Because I like Classic gameplay, and especially the raiding experience in TBC and WotLK.

Oh yes, because the only difference between Retail and Classic are raids. I could log a warlock onto Retail right now, and it would play exactly the same as it would on WotLK pre-patch right now. Same rotation, same abilities, same itemization etc. Everything else is also the same. The leveling experience, the professions, the existence (or lack thereof) of additional borrowed power systems, the zones, the dailies, etc etc. Everything else is absolutely the same except the raids. How could I not have realized before?

In P1, sure. But what about future phases? Do you really think people will be inclined to invite lower-geared players, especially in “undesired specs”, especially if those moronic devs add challenge modes to dungeons that are tuned for higher than pre-raid gear?

It’s not like you can log in and expect to always have people to your beck and call whenever you need them, even in a guild. Some might be leveling their alts. Some might be in a pug raids. Some might already be in a dungeon group. There’s a reason why activities like raids are scheduled, to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Just wait and see. You’ll be surprised.

What happens with that when there are RDF?

First of all, I want RDF for the max level experience, not for the leveling experience - if, say, devs had just withheld RDF from phase 1, I’d have agreed with such a decision for the most part.

Second, when I was talking about the leveling experience in retail, I was referring more to stuff like the level scaled content, the nonsensical zones, the poor power-level progression of characters, and so on. RDF wasn’t really among my concerns for the brief time I spent on Retail.

You should follow your own advice more.

He was the one who brought up the leveling experience.

I asked a damn question.

That is patently incorrect. RDF improves levelling greatly by allowing players to more effortlessly join levelling dungeons from anywhere they happen to be questing at a time. RDF may have positives and negatives at max level, but for levelling content it literally only has positives.

With RDF people are just spamming dungeons instead of being out questing and experiencing the world and lore. It totally destroys the whole leveling experience just like boosting did. It’s even worse than boosting becasue its free and you don’t even need s summon to the dungeon.

I’m sorry but how does it destroy anything? Again this is just some imaginary ideal in my opinion that the devs decided to chase for whatever reason.
If I want to experience World of Warcraft that way, why can’t I? Because others told me that’s not how I’m ‘supposed’ to play the game? Please.

Just ask to Blizzard to put this possibility.

Same but, who want world pvp in 2022 ? Even in Classic bro, players proved that they prefere playing in being in 70-30% advantage or mono server mega serv.
Another prove that “You think you do but you don’t”.
But ask to add it if you want.

Quest for what ? You don’t need players do to quests in Wotlk, there is no elite anymore and your classe is 4x stronger than before, and the time to find a mate to do a specific quests, you will clean it before.
But if i’m wrong, again, ask to add it in the list.

You can normaly tag BG with the bg tool in Wotlk.

Yes and it’s exactly what we’ll all almost do, so just put RDF.

So again, instead of destroying our way to play the game that was already in Wotlk, just ask to add something that wasn’t already in the game if you want.

100% wrong.
It’s because of RDF that players are encouraged to do quests, professions etc.
Without RDF i have to slack in Norfendre only because no TP where i was after the dg.
So RDF could encourage me to put more live in the old world while no RDF force me to slack in the new world only.
And don’t tell me i’m wrong because i had the Loremaster HF, i cleaned all quests of the game and i already played on a Wotlk serv without RDF, and it was fkin BORING, + the fact that nobody talked in dg so it changed nothing.

And i’m talking in the case who someone want to play like me, if someone doesn’t want to give a sh… to the lore and your quest because you all know this game in 2022, he’ll just disconnected of the game if you destroy his way to play
