You are forced to use it if you want to post in LFG channel so it will guaranteed be populated.
You can easily find groups for any content including world pvp and quests and battlegrounds.
Obviously there are things to complain about but I think it’s pretty neat overall. It will never come close to how convenient RDF are but this is pretty nice. You can in fact list yourself for content you want to do and forget about it until you get an invite. You can look for players for content in a list. No need to spam chat even though that will still happen (anyone can see chat but you have to be listed to be able to post in it).
I am sure it will be various degree of Gearscore and show achievement hell but for leveling especially this will be a nice tool. And best of all, this list doesn’t hurt the social dynamic.
There is also a special “report advertisement” function for spam.
The biggest difference is that people still have to move to the dungeon, so that I can make sure that you die a couple of times before you can enter your dungeon.
It can’t replace RDF. The latter was very convenient back in the day and I can’t imagine not including a feature like this in 2022. They try to force their vision of ‘socializing’ on players but it’s not going to work long term imo, why? Because there’s simply no demand for it.
Today’s playerbase wants the most efficient ways of running dungeons and this is it.
No it can’t because RDF hasn’t even existed yet to be replaced. RDF wasnt even part of Wotlk until ICC at the end of the journey.
Just the thought of people teleporting to upgrade keep instead of taking the boat over at launch is really depressing to even think about. And I’m not even talking about the social aspect.
Blizzard messed up server balance on pvp realms, therefore they can implement stuff that destroys any resemblence of pvp on the few servers that still function as intended too.

Yeah, nothing matters without WPvP. Retail is exactly the same as Classic, except it has no WPvP. Everything else is absolutely identical. I could log onto Retail right now and my character would have exactly the same toolkit, PvE experience, professions, leveling experience etc. of TBC. Or WotLK. I mean, even between TBC and WotLK there clearly aren’t differences aside from WPvP right?
It fills me with unreasonable rage that they are locking the LookingForGroup chat channel behind the useless tool. Now when questioned about the state of 5man dungeons they con confidently point at the tool an say “Look, we made an awesome tool, everybody is using it!”
It’s a complete scumbag move, and I don’t even know how to get around it, I’ll have to list myself like a good boy so I can spam /4 with “LF1M Tank COT Strat summon ready”. It’s humiliating and insulting in equal measure.
At this point I wish nothing but ruin and destitution upon Blizzard. Bunch of self-important clowns leechin off of a legacy of giants.
That is one way to use the tool. Another way is to talk to people creating custom events by whispering them in the tool. Join their discord perhaps and add them to the friends list. The point is that you CAN create custom events and groups for all kind of content in this tool. You can make groups for battlegrounds and world-pvp and raids. And yes, you can also “click accept” and just run a dungeon. For all the anti-social people, you can in fact just list yourself, ignore the list and wait for an inv and click accept, fly over to the dungeon and be done in 20min. You can do that to. You can do all kind of things with this tool.
…that will never come. Unless you are a meta class and your note has a gear score indicative of full raid gear. Dps have to stare at the tool AND LFG chat at the same time, with a “class-spec-gearscore” reply ready in buffer to shoot at a newly listed group.
It’s a disgrace, and people defending the tool are the definition of useful idiots.
Yes, so they are anti-social in dungeons. The word anti means “opposed to; against.”, it’s a choice. And many people choose to be anti-social in dungeons.
You can still be anti-social in dungeons with this tool if you want to. My point is that the tool can be used for many things, social or otherwise.
