So on my quest for experiencing all the story, I’ve been LOVING this questline. Coming from someone who raided BT at launch, the fact Illidan might not have been who we thought he was, and the entire story has been great.
Unfortunately, as a 110 I’ve come to the raid section, and so far my progress has halted. I need to collect the Soul Prism from the HoV raid, to put Illidans soul in.
As I wont be soloing this at 110, I’m gonna move onto BFA, I was wondering If anyone could explain the rest of the storyline on this quest, or link me to a decent review of it?
I guess we get Illidans soul back, and restore him. I’m still a bit unclear as to HOW he was helping by doing what he did in BT. I get he formed the illidari to kill the Burning Legion as no-one else would, and im guessing he forms the demon hunters to help this. He does voiceovers on some WQ’s, but ive not seen him in game anywhere. So, I assume hes good now?
Essentially Illidan comes back after we kill Gul’dan in the Nighthold and get last of the Pillars of Creation. Then we go jogging at the Tomb of Sargeras to stop that little annoyance the Burning Legion was doing since the Tomb acted as the central invasion point. We put the Pillars of Creation on good use. At the end we end up in the space near Argus since Kil’Jaeden tried to be an a-hole and crash land us there with his ship. Velen kills the guy and we escape with help of Illidan who created rift between Argus and Azeroth with the Sargerite Keystone. Khadgar goes “What have you done?!” and Illy answers “Sometimes the hand of the fate must be forced.”
To start our invasion of Argus Velen reveals that his people were creating dimensional-ship called the Vindicaar. Smug Illidan, Velen, Magni and some others tag along to our incursion. We find Turalyon, who now leads the Armies of the Light, and Alleria, who started doing the Void. Stuff happens. Naaru wanted to lightforge Illidan but Illidan disagreed with an eye beam while shouting “I am my scars!”. Alleria becomes even more void infused. We assault the Burning Throne to put stop to the Legion once and for all. Turns out Sargeras had been gathering souls of his brethren who we help and in turn they help us to slay the world-soul of Argus. Then the Titan Pantheon drags Sargeras out, but not before he tries to be an a-hole and stabs Azeroth with big sword, and imprison him to the Seat of the Panetheon. Illidan decides to stick around as Sargeras’ eternal jailor while rest of us head back to Azeroth to party up.
I am 90% sure Blizzard decided this because of the BfA. Otherwise Illidan wouldn’t put up with Sylvanas’s sh*te for a second. He would just walk up to Sylvanas and incinerate her and add another skull to his collection. Or start rebuilding his collection again I should say.
Yes, because they wouldn’t depower him like they depowered Malfurion or Tyrande to allow this to happen…
I mean come on, for al we know Malfurion, Tyrande, Velen and probably Turalyon and Anduin as they’re literally the Light-incarnated and the Light’s Chosen should one shot the Lich-Queen yet it didn’t happen yet.
Instead they all go toe-to-toe with her pet, Nanthanos and thats the closest they get to killing Sylvanas.
