Hello everyone, I don’t know if you’re familiar with the issue that I am talking about and I don’t think that it is appropriate to share details on the forums, but I thought that it’s time to talk about it anyway. If you are interested in what I am talking about you can find out with a quick google search.
Now, ever since last week there has been a disproportionate amount of Jaina “Cheese” groups in the group finder. In one week we’ve reached the point where it is nearly impossible to get into a group for Jaina that follows the regular strategy.
This is problematic for two reasons - the first reason is that mount collectors who fear that the aforementioned “strategy” is dangerous would be demotivated to join any groups at all.
The second is the sheer amount of people using the aforementioned strategy which is basically everyone who runs Jaina for the mount. As I said earlier, it is nearly impossible to get groups that use the regular strategy in the group finder.
So, that leaves us with two options - a hotfix or a blue post clarifying whether this is “creative use of game mechanics” or a flat-out exploit.
Who cares anyways if they’re cheesing it or not? Jaina is only ran for the mount, as it gives 0 relevant progression items anymore, because Blizzard CBA to care about old content.
I suppose you’re right but it usually takes at least an expansion until we reach the point where people can skip 80% of the mechanics on bosses, be it bosses that aren’t relevant to progression in any way…
The cheese tactic is not interrupting Howling Winds and just tunneling her down in the first intermission. They’re not going to bladestorm with the banhammer over it. Fix it maybe (I doubt it), punish us for it no.
The issue with option 2 is that if it is the latter (and my personal opinion is that it is the latter as it skips an entire phase) then they would only say it’s an exploit once they have A: Hotfixed it and B: identified the users of it and penalized for it.
It would be very easy for them to find players that have killed Jaina without the third phase activating and what loot they got from it (mount).
There is a possibility they would just hotfix it, but… considering the mount… I’m not sure they would leave it at that.
You are correct, but you’re missing a huge part - hundreds, probably thousands of people are doing it at this point. If you search “Jaina” in the group finder that’s all the groups you’ll see. Should they all stop doing Jaina for the mount because of lack of information on the issue?
We’ve reached an avalanche effect, of a sorts, and that’s why I decided to pop the question on the forums.
Don’t get me wrong, I ain’t trying to create an issue, just wanting to shed some light on it. That’s how I am farming the mount as well - like I said, at this point there’s no other way to do it.
When you get creative and use tricks to eliminate/trivialize mechanics.
@thread I think OP isn’t really complaining that people are doing other than their fear of being punished for doing it, since given that everybody does it it’s either participate or don’t kill Jaina. I’m not getting “stop doing it it’s a bad tactic” vibes from them.
Tbf, it is cheese, but so is 30tanks nyalotha, 29mages+1dh nyalotha and so on… U basicly make group so strong u can bypass mechanics.
Dont think its banable, and if its, guilds like method etc will get baned, and i dont see that happening…
That is exactly what I was trying to convey. Just as DPS scaling allows to bypass certain mechanics so does healing scaling allow for this to be doable on Jaina (e.g, healers can keep up the group during the otherwise punishing damage of the Blizzard) and the power of geared DPS can free people by just cleaving.
But in this day and age it’s becoming increasingly hard to draw the line so I believe light must be shed on these issues so that the community at large is aware of them.
No, of course not, I thought I made that clear. The issue at hand is that it’s a tactic that allows you to skip 3/5s of the fight mechanics and I believe it must be making people uneasy.
But so is killing Wrathion with 30 fire mages, or becoming Insane on N’zoth so you can burn him down without going into the Mythic Phase, or killing HC Nzoth by spamming Heroic Throw, etc.
The difference with the Jaina cheese is that it is easily accessible by everyone since it requires roughly 455+ average ilvl, so I believe that it would be best for everyone if there is a clear-cut clarification on this specific case.
In a nutshell - very few people want to kill Wrathion by spamming Combustion Pyroblasts, but a large amount of people would like to farm the Glacial Tidestorm mount before the next expansion. Many of them would be jittery to do so because everyone is farming the mount with the aforementioned strategy.
