The lack of communication is so disheartening

With these recent hotfixes, I actually feel worse.

Everyday I refresh wow forums / wowhead / reddit, hoping for some form of communication or hotfixes regarding the state of MW from a Dev of some kind and I haven’t seen any since season 1 started.

Today, FINALLY, we see some “Buffs” to a pvp talent that no one takes right now, I need Zen focus, I need Eminence to get away from the melee, I need refreshing breeze to make my healing useful for the small amounts of time I’m safe to cast soothing and I need counter / grapple depending on type of dd i’m facing.
I’ll try Chrysalis, sure but I feel so locked into this loadout I almost know it won’t help.

Mana changes are welcome, but … without communication, how are we supposed to know that these are a “work in progress” or that they recognise that the issue with MW is a toolkit problem and not a tweaking numbers problem, just a small note in the hotfixes page of what they’re thought process is in these changes.

I have a feeling that the next time we’ll see another change is a while because this feels like a “This’ll keep em happy” change.

Having increased mana gen is not going to get me invited to any pugs and it certainly won’t help me whilst in a HoJ.

If I had to settle for a numbers tweak, I know this doesn’t make sense, but even if it was something like “MW has …% more armor against enemy players” or a new passive like that. That is a direct way of them saying “We know what the issue with this class is”. Mana? Mana? Its an issue but … not the biggest one.

If I had an indication that they know there is a fundamental issue and they are working on it, I’d actually be happy and look forward to changes.

Alas, there is nothing and must hope and pray that one of my refreshes brings me joy, in however many weeks or months time that is.

Might just be me but I find everyone one shots through cocoon in 1-2 secs. It’s useless so I usually don’t even bother speccing into ‘Chrysalis’ anymore. A 1.20min cd on it won’t make it any less useless than it already is. The mana regen buff is okay but we still can’t survive anything, especially when in a stun.
These changes will help a little in rbg alone. Mw still useless really. We won’t see any increase in players playing mw monks, maybe a few more who might try these changes but very quickly after a week or so it will go right back down.

It is bothersome :frowning:

That said, I am starting to suspect the state of MW is actually not as bad as the pug world thinks. I managed to heal my way through a DoS+14 last week, despite having mis-clicked and ended up without mana tea. Ilvl 211, Tear of Morning because it was the storming affix. We missed the timer by only 1 minute, and I don’t believe it was lack of healing that caused that. Our one wipe was when we pulled about 20 cranes, plus the dragon miniboss.

But this doesn’t do anything to change perception of MW. Everyone wants FotM or bust, and the only way that’s going to change is with obvious buffs to MW (and hpriest).

…tbqh, I suspect the drive for FotM is a hint that the playerbase at large feels content is a bit too hard right now. Everyone seems to feel they should be farming 15s, but that’s something you do when you’re closing in on 220 ilvl and that is not the average player at all.

here’s a visual summary of their communication:
