Not only are we not getting any new appearance, you’ll also notice that there’s barely any difference in the color scheme of the Normal raiding set and the Elite PvP set: https://bit.ly/3dIreIM
That’s underwhelming to say the least, but I’m sure they’re betting on their usual forum shills to come and say: “well, the raid takes places in Torghast, so it’s only natural that it uses the Torghast legendary set!s”.
Well I guess they should go even further and just use the already existing Torghast maps and wing bosses for the actual raid instead of creating new environments and encounters, I’m sure you’ll agree?
Anyway, disappointed. What about you? Do you like it?
We’ve known this since Blizzcon, and I am incredibly disappointed.
These sets look incredible and I’m glad we get them but they were already in the game… we should have gotten them via other means…
By doing regular Torghast you mean? They could have added unique Torghast achievements, or for the Twisting corridors.
But then, they’d have to come up with new sets for the raid. We can’t have that.
You know, I usually don’t like dead memes, and catchphrases that you see too often. They tend to lose their meaning and become annoying.
But there’s one that, apparently, will never cease to hit the mark:
I find it to be a better implementation than in Legion for example.
In Legion the legendary items just had random appearances of old, unrelated to anything regarding Legion itself.
This time Blizzard are using the same appearances twice, but they both fit thematically. The legendary appearances fit because they’re made by the Runecarver. And the Domination raid items fit because they’re also of his design – which The Jailer sort of plucked from his mind.
In terms of developer time spent, then both Legion and Shadowlands have re-used existing appearances for the legendary items. There’s a little bit to be said for the fact that the legendary appearances could have been similar to Domination raid items, but still different and unique. At the same time…eh, it all fits in terms of story and theme and that’s what matters to me. It’s all of the Runecarver and that’s what it has to convey, and it does.
Legion being a garbage expansion doesn’t redeem Shadowlands I’m afraid.
Besides, even if Legion did re-use old assets, it still introduced interesting and new variations thanks to the Mythic/Elite PvP versions of those sets.
Not to mention, DKs, DHs and Monks actually got something new.
That means Legion actually introduced, at the very least, 3 entirely new sets that didn’t exist at all before. The same can’t be said about Shadowlands.
It doesn’t matter. It’s re-used assets. 100% this time, because at least in Legion there were updated models and new Mythic versions. Here it’s just lazy.
Besides, they could have made new Torghast-inspired models. It’s really not that hard, they just didn’t do it.
Hopefully the harder to get sets will have extra effects like the current sets in 9.0 but I’m kind of disappointed that the two tints I want are in Mythic raid and elite PvP especially when I realize the mythic raid one is the same as the legendary items I crafted.
Wouldn’t be surprised if down the line (in the next expac maybe) we can mog our current legendaries regardless of 9.1 gear.
Well this is pretty lame. I mean, the sets look pretty good but it’s kinda dissapointing to not get anything new. I sadly don’t think any sets have been very “wow” since Legion. I miss class sets alot
