The level of support lately

My question in a ticket:

"Every day the same people are putting netherweave bags and pretty much every common consumable (even pots from last tiers) for prices nearing half a million gold. This is 100.000 times more than the common market value.

This is an example of netherweave bags on the realms where i play:

Sylvanas.ZxîâlriâØñæÿ → 3x 483.000g
Kazzak.Gegs → 1x 436.131g
Outland.Trilliatis → 4x 225.131g
Ragnaros.Rascc → 1x 438.131g
Silvermoon.Ñullhamÿ → 1x 493.000g

Is this against the TOS or not? I’m asking cause I need to know if I’m allowed to do this as well."

The answer:

" Zorgarium:
Hello xxx,

We can only direct you to review our legal documentation here:

https://www.blizzard.com/en-gb/legal/

We cannot provide specifics and only ask that you read these and ensure you abide by these agreements.

Blizzard Customer Service"

Nice evasive non-answer.
Maybe I’m particularly stupid but there’s nothing in those links that talks about auction house prices or limits.
Anyone got a clue ?

There are no rules what so ever dictating item prices on the auction house. The auction house gives players the CHOICE as to whether they are willing to pay the listed prices or not, as such Blizzard do not have any pricing rules.

I’m not sure why you were given links to legal documentation based on that ticket question, I can only assume it was a mistake.

Thank you for that answer, I thought I was going crazy!

I don’t think it’s a mistake. They are evading every question I ask about this matter, and I don’t understand why they just can’t tell me if it’s allowed or not.

The reason why this is so important to me, is because I make a bit of gold selling netherweave bags on a few realms. I buy them cheap, and then sell them a little bit higher. The last half year (even a bit longer i think) on every realm I play, I see people show up that always put one or two bags up for those ridiculous prices. No clue why cause no one would buy a 16-slot bag for almost half a million. Yet every day they are there. Every. Single. Day.
Not only that; the same people are doing it on pretty much every consumable there is too: pots, flasks, drums, herbs, even stuff from previous tiers or previous expansions, you name it. Makes zero sense to me and since the very same people do it on multiple realms too (always the same prices or the similar names, so clearly the same ppl), so that must take quite a bit of time too, doing that repeatedly every single day for hundreds or more items on many different realms.

I don’t understand what they gain from it, but it ticks me off as far as netherweave bags are concerned, so I tried to discourage them by always posting a bag for the same price as them (since last posted sells first). Kept this up for about a month or two.
Then suddenly I got hit with a 3day ban for “trading ingame items for rl-currency”. Obviously I appealed to the ticket, but I only got a standard answer that “we had a team of specialists investigating this case and verifying the penalty was correctly applied”. They only said “we have found consistent evidence that you were in breach of the code of conduct and terms of use of Blizzard” and linked me those same links to legal documentation, but with no further information on what that I supposedly did wrong.

Now I’m 100% sure that they did not examine it and that there is no proof SINCE I DON’T TRADE RL MONEY FOR GOLD. Never did and never will.

I tried to figure out what exactly I did that makes them think I sell or buy gold, but they didn’t want to answer me: “To provide any further details would be providing information to the cheating community which would empower them to further adapt their methods to avoid detection.” so up til this day I still don’t know what it is that I supposedly did wrong.
The only thing I can guess is that it has to do something with those netherweave bags, since other than my weekly stuff for raiding, that’s pretty much all I do these days in the game now at end of expansion.
I thought maybe one of them sold and maybe that’s why they think it must be a rl money trade for a ridiculous price like that, so when my ban ended I checked to see if that was the case, but nope. Nothing had sold, so that can’t be the reason either.

Every ticket I have tried to open about the matter, gets deflected with standard answers or links and closed. I don’t get to talk to gm other than the ticket system and was told there is no one else I can voice my concerns to. I’ve stayed polite in every single ticket, but I get nowhere.

I know it was only a 3 day ban and not a big deal (even though it really upsets me to get accused of something I didn’t do), but what if they permaban me next for the same thing -whatever it is? I already found out that in case of a ban there literaly is no one to turn to or to appeal your ticket to. Only standard robotized copy-paste answers and no one that you can talk to or that will even tell you what is allowed or not.

As of today I still don’t know what it is I’m supposed to avoid, so I’m starting to ask for specific things if it’s allowed or not. But even that they won’t answer.

I feel very dejected atm and don’t really know what to do anymore.

You can sell items at much higher that “normal rate”. While not very honorable some people do that and hope somebody makes a mistake and buys it.

Also, gold sellers most likely use similar methods for transfering gold from person to person so you likely triggered Blizzard’s automatic systems. And then got hit by Blizzard’s semi-automatic customer support I am afraid.

I’m not sure why anyone would buy Netherweave bags as the 30 slot ones are only a few hundred gold, or at least they were when I last bought some.

That used to be the way people buy gold but I was sure that Blizzard knew about it and look into anyone selling them for that much. It could be that they are transferring gold between the factions, something which they would need someone else’s help to do.

they prey on inattentive people with too much money.

happened to me once i almost spent half a million gold on something silly by accident. luckily i noticed it in time and bought less.

its like…they dont sell a lot. but if they do find an unlucky person then its half a million gold made within a second and noone can do anything about it because it was a legit transaction.

Thank you all for the answers, it’s a bit more clear to me now! I guess I’ll just avoid trying to hamper them by putting my bags over them and I should be safe in the future. Still unfair they banned me for it and then won’t even talk to me about the reason.

Well, apparently sometimes you do get banned for it. At least only if you are me, cause the same people as I saw months ago are still doing it every day.

I would suggest you appeal again and ask exactly what you’ve done as you haven’t been gold selling. Explain very briefly you put an item on at a high price because you saw others doing it. And ask if that was the reason.
Did the items sell? If that’s the case they can follow the trail of the gold to see if you still have it. If they didn’t I’m at a bit of a loss as to why you got the ban unless it was an automatic trigger thing.

@ Ananda,

I tried that. Twice. I got back these replies:

Hello,

Since the launch of World of Warcraft in 2004, we have never given out such information and that continues today for all of our other games as well.

The email you received when your account was actioned was intentionally vague and customer service cannot elaborate on this.

To provide any further details would be providing information to the cheating community which would empower them to further adapt their methods to avoid detection.

As such, the full extent of our messaging in such cases is that we identified the use of third-party software, cheating, abuse of economy etc, whilst we do indeed have more details on our end regarding this in order to action an account in the first place, we have never and will never share such details publicly.

And:

Hello xxx,

I’m very sorry, but Customer Support literally cannot offer anything more relating to this account action.

Appealing as you originally did in your first ticket is the only way to have such actions reviewed and this is done by the very same team which you mention in your ticket.

We now consider this matter closed and further tickets will be closed with no response given.

Then in the next tickets I didn’t mention my ban anymore, but just asked about what the other ppl were doing was bannable. And I only got this:

Hello xxx,

If you come across a player in-game you suspect of inappropriate behaviour, you can report them in-game to bring to our attention to review.

Yesterday I tried again, and again got no answer but just a link to the TOS and legal links (that was the first post in this topic). Hence my current frustration with the level of support

My items didn’t sell as far as I know. At least I didn’t get any gold in my mail. Could have been as well that they removed it when they banned me.

fyi, this was the original mail about the ban i received; so that’s the only info I have:
