I’m not much of a forum poster but a fire-water induced nerdrage made me.
Tanaan rares, specifically terrorfirst, deathtalon, doomroller and vengeance. They have a 1-2 hour spawn rate after which they have a (presumed) 10% drop chance for an item that can give 1 of 3 mounts (which can be dupes). the drop chance alone is not my biggest concern just yet, if the rares were on a much more reasonable spawn rate. the biggest pain comes with them just dying as soon as they spawn, leaving no chance for anyone but the quickest fliers to even try their luck for the next 1-2 hours. at the very least, give them amble announcement time so people can gather and then apply the same damage reduction that world bosses get so people might actually share a spawn.
Aye. Look at GW2. Events/bosses etc with a schedule you can follow on a webpage, with mechanics ensuring you get your daily chance by being there on time.
Just returned to retail (Metzen hyped me…) and quickly returned to my och old daily/weekly routines.
And right now I am stood waiting for Doomroller… with his variable spawn (I have previous spawn time, but Ofc not even that can be all) and I got reminded of so many things that make made me go “aaaw FUDGE IT”.
With the plethora of things one can do, that is in its simplest form (“Kill X daily/weekly for a chance”) is a nice little thing it is amazing how many of those are way way more convoluted to the point you get apathetic.
The four Tanaan rares have:
Variable respawn timers (set timers should be standard for all rares unless on a publicly (API on the web available) available schedule)
Looong respawn timers (1-3h?? Just make it 5 minutes. There are 20000000 other things one wants to do in a day. Let us)
0 health and no mechanic to allow multitagging. Come on. Their purpose (like many other rares/bosses) is for a daily roll of the die (I.e buffing health or other shenanigans are just … not future proof). Just add a buff that all these mobs will have which keeps them alive but inactive (think Core Hounds in MC) for 1 minute after death - to allow many tags and not force us to degen spam a key to not miss a tag and waste even more time.
