So after adding Korthia as a zone and noticing how different looks the zone from the Maw i started thinking. Is it possible Oribos to have been much, much bigger?Where are the broken parts of it?Korthia can’t be all.It is such a little zone.
Also was the Maw always looking like this?Or when the Zoval was imprisoned in it the realm changed? Was Torghast the place where the 1st ones lived or what?I am really curious what was the original role of the Maw and Torghast.
Could be the case. We do not know why the 1st Ones entrusted the knowledge to attendants of Korthia. Or what’s the origins of Torghast. Maybe Oribos had multiple parts. Or there were several iterations.
Well… who knows.
When it comes to the formation of the Maw, there are 2 parts:
either it’s parts that like Korthia are pulled by the chains and composed of remains of various afterlives.
since there are many souls now, one of quests from Ve’nari reveals that the mawsworn bury souls and use them to form the terrain around Gorgoa.
Maybe it was just the Torghast. Maybe all the covenant lands were a part of a single landmass. There is not factual knowledge so far.
Only hints and some descriptions of what is going on there currently afaia. Maybe I missed something.
The landmass within the Maw consists of pieces of land that have been ripped from a realm that was destroyed upon entering the Maw’s atmosphere and whose pieces have become burned and desiccated. The Jailer pieced these together into a single landmass by throwing out chains in every direction within the Maw from Torghast and pulling them inwards. The Maw was sealed and made inescapable with the magic of the Heart of the Forest, with the goal of banishing the Jailer forever. - Interview with World of Warcraft art director Ely Cannon.
