The maw... how can you even have patience for that!

Well if they wana make it scary make it really dark at night so that you can barelly see anything?

Ehhh, I usually complete all the quests in the maw on around 20min, not sure why it takes you days to do one.

The zone has three main problems:

  1. Limited Mounting
  2. Excess of mobs and elites
  3. Lack of rewards

The third one is the least talked but i think it’s a core problem, content with limited rewards doesn’t compel or attract people, and it’s not just gear, personally i am thankful it doesn’t have gear rewards tied to it, it would make people feel even more distaste for the zone, it’s rather the lack of cosmetics that make me feel a lot more resentment towards the zone.

There isn’t even a Meta achievement with a cool reward like a title and a mount, even tough there are a lot of achievements that could easily make up a meta achievement to the likes of Mechagon or Nazjatar, but there isn’t, just plain non-existent. I’ve done all the achievements on the Zone and it felt disappointing and sad to not get anything from the effort i put into it.

You might say that cosmetics are meaningless and i have to point out that the majority of the playerbase are casual and prefer cosmetics over gear and power, i mean, look at the completion numbers for achievements like AOTC, KSM, etc, it’s a big minority of the playerbase that do competitive content, even the softer end of it, cosmetics are more sought after than gear.

Just my view.

The Maw, very interesting place, cool theme, sometimes genuinely creepy, but badly implemented.

Testify!

That said, imho, the real problem with the Maw was that while the mob danger was entertaining, losing stygia as a result of getting repeatedly curb stomped by NPCs was not…and I say that, having not really done a great deal with the stygia I collect…it’s the principal of the matter! Repair costs are quite sufficient as a penalty.
The Eye of the jailer didn’t help…I probably would have spent more time there, if the escalating effects did not make leaving a necessity.

My main problem with maw is eye of the jailer. Should be at least a way to lose attention.

You get rid of that forever after doing a Questline in 9.1, so it’s basically gone any time after 9.1 date.

I just prowl through it

Because if you’re inclined to PvP, it’s actually a really good place to find fights.

Back when alliance had against overwhelming odds consistently for weeks, I used to do a weekly “horde hunt” in the maw to get it done, and I’m not talking about camping the entry portal. Just going to where the weeklies were based was usually good enough and i could usually find some other alliance during it who would want to team up.

What I don’t understand is why most of those I encountered had it on. They would actively avoid every fight and seemed totally uninterested in PvP even if it was a 1 v 1. Seems a big risk to take (big Stygia loss from players) for some poxy bonus Stygia.

I do maw once a week
2 Quests and im done with it so i don’t have problems with it at all

Some say its annoying, other say its challenging, the truth lies in between.
What kind of challenge we accept as non-annoying? Strong elite, long quest chain, mindless grind, disabled quality of life features, everything combined?
