The droprate from the Vinyl Triumph of Gnomeregan should be increased.
It doesn’t make any sense to gate a meta achievement behind an item below 0,2% droprate, which you can only farm twice (3 times if available) a day. I’ve been farming this item daily since 8.2 release and I have yet to see it dropping ONCE to somebody. It feels very unrewarding and frustrating when you have already completed everything else for the achievement.
While I can understand this kind of RNG exists so as to artificially make people keep playing, the case of this vinyl is IMHO beyond absurd and should not exist in a meta-achievement.
also it should be noted (as i have been made aware), that you need plans (junkyard architect) to drop from paragon boxes to allow you to complete Mecha-done as well.
the mount from the achievement may as well be in the paragon box!
Sounds like the secret fish achievement for the fishing globe. Complete everything in a day if diligent, then spend weeks or months finding the last RNG-rated fish.
The triumph of gnomeregan vinyl should really have increased droprate. Its ridiculously low. I have all othe vinyls since long time ago and I’m still grinding that one missing daily and no drop.
Not sure if any of the paints have low droprate, but I’m looking for the one from rumblerocks too about as long as I have been grinding the last vinyl.
I’m also thinking the gnomeregan vinyl basically has to be grinded during this patch. Far fewer people in mechagon in future when its obsolete. Only rep farmers for flying. Just try getting the rig up every day with its resource cost…
As far as I remember, there’s only 2 plans in the paragon boxes for the achievement. One of them is a guaranteed loot in your first paragon box while Microbot XD isn’t, but still it’s nowhere near as rare as the mentioned vinyl.
IIRC I dropped Microbot in my 3rd paragon, while according to WoWhead a vast majority got it in their 1st or 2nd. But I agree the RNG here can be pretty terrible, I’ve read someone farmed 6 paragon boxes and didn’t get it yet.
I wish it was true lol. A great part of the Mecha-done achievement is time-gated which, don’t get me wrong here, I find it okay. You need to farm rare NPCs that are not everyday up, do every visitors’ quest that keep rotating in a daily basis, farm paragon boxes that require days of questing, etc.
It just feels like the big amount of time spent to complete the whole achievement is gone to waste because you need to be extremely lucky with the loot of yet another time-gated event for the last item required.
Well, all I’m missing is one blueprint, the one from the mechanical chicken that is available once in a blue moon, and I’ve killed it every time it was present…
And tbh, I’m beyond the point when the achievement would make me go “yippee I got it! ”, it’s now more like “okay so I guess I got it huh ”.
I know a wise man once said that “RNG is FUN”, but I would totally do without THIS MUCH FUN
Difficult enough sometimes to get the Avenger chicken to spawn in the first place, considering chasing the ‘F1337foot’ can feel like being a rallye driver, with tons of spectators standing on the side watching you despair and then see it despawn at 6% health. (Although now I understand why people may show little interest. After all, you can only loot it once per day and when it’s up most people will already have done it early-on.)
The pattern from the chicken is rediculous because it drops of the most annoying (once a week) mob tbh (and by now I got the blueprint x.x)… The vinyl is a totally different story, the rig being twice a day and the rare making it up to 3 drop chances on some days and it still feels aweful.
I think the achievment would also be enough work without this xD
Idd, I can’t recall having fun getting an achievement in a LONG time. It’s more a relief, that I’m finally done and never have to do that sh*t ever again.
I really think that Blizz need to get rid of a lot of RNG and replace it with some sort of currency or they can even mix it, let me give an example:
Take a 1% chance to get a mount to drop. Keep the chance, but whenever u don’t get it to drop, u get a currency for that mount (can be added to a new mount currency in the currency tab), and it takes X amount of currency to buy the mount, 100 for instance.
So after u kill the boss 100 times with no luck (2 years of lockout doing it every week) u could buy the mount.
That way u have a goal to look forward to, so that u have a feeling of progression.
EDIT: The way Blizz work right now is 100% based on statistics. They can still do that. Like now they will for instance want ~1% of the player base to obtain a rare mount, which is why they will have mobs like Soundless with a long respawn timer and ridiculously low drop chance.
With the statistics in mind, they know that ON AVERAGE it will take a person let’s say 572 kills for it to drop. Well, set the currency amount to be able to buy Soundless at 572 then, or around whatever their statistcs are saying.
And no, not everyone will get the mounts with this, as it will make no statistical difference, but only eliminate bad luck.
Just look at all the people complaining about the easy requirements for allied races or pathfinder, they won’t be farming this currency for years to get a mount.
Not sure if this helps you with your question but for me working towards something is not a problem at all. Reputation, AVs that require doing something X times, all the “boring grinds” I don’t mind. Running something that is low chance on low chance on mediocre chance or so is what gets me nuts xD (Rockweed Shambler anyone?)
And this “completionist mentality” is a core part of the game for me and my playstyle.
So the problem is not exactly that the drop chance is low, the problem for me is that I sit by the rare daily for ~30 mins and wait for it’s spawn and try to find a group for the rig for ~30mins again just to come back and try again tomorrow.
If I could simply rekill mobs for those 30 mins to have a low drop chance I wouldn’t mind, but that’s just my personal point of view.
i feel exactly the same, and achievements are sort of the last thing in the game for me. im just glad to get them out of the way.
although i dont know how classic will go overall, i am looking forward to the simplicity of knowing what the task ahead of me will be without having to log onto wowhead every 30 seconds.
isn’t there 2 points to any game?
having fun, and
completing the game. (or highest score in never ending games like tetris/space invaders)
the closest most people have to completing wow is achievements, especially now as all the goal posts are getting moved.
The vinyl is a total pain. I am down to two and the ultra low drop chance has left me stuck on this part.
That aside… I will admit to being a tad too focused on completing this achievement. I stepped back and realized that I was putting too much time in for a ugly metal wheel mount. I only do mechagone more sparingly now.
But…of course it is. Meta-achievements are easily turned into ‘coupon problems’ (look it up) which are one of the class of casino mechanics that form the base of the game in BFA.
Essentially, you feel like you are making good progress at the start and by the time the odds turn against you (so that getting the final few steps takes a large amount of time) you have been lured in and committed to completing the task.
Did you enjoy being blatantly manipulated? If not you might want to consider exactly why you are subbed to a game that overtly uses these techniques and many others in almost every aspect of its gameplay.
