The mess of what is Battleground Balance & overall PvP Concerns

Hello everyone,

I’m a big fan of SOD and have been playing since the launch.
I’ve played all versions of WoW and past years spent most of my time in the “classic” version of the game.

SoD was never meant to be balanced but please allow me to elaborate on a few things:

Overall BG balance
I’m playing alliance, as I followed my guild and real life friends so we could play together.
As of now, on my newest char at 50, I’m mostly solo queueing or queueing with 1-2 friends.
Many of the games we face 2x5 or 3x5 premades in WSG and AB.
I understand that this is because horde is FORCED to queue up as groups in order to have decent queue times.
This alliance toon is currently at a 10-15% winrate in both BG’s.

Before you go crazy and start flaming “Maybe it’s you”, it’s not.
Alliance simply loses almost all it’s games unless you queue up with experienced PvP players.
I understand SoD was never meant to be balanced but it would be great if we could push that number to around 50-50.
If enemy team has more than 3 shamans in the game, it’s an auto-loss.

At this point I simply changed my attitude of trying to win, to simply try to get my team to go ST and just stay there as 15 (if our team is even full) and try to farm honor by outnumbering the horde as they have to occupy the 4 other bases.

Please keep in mind that alliance is paying a subscription to lose BG’s all day, averaging 400-700 honor per game.

Gear Issues & potential resilience gear?
As of now NO RESILIENCE gear is in the game, and it never was in classic.
However, as Blizzard had to nerf the dmg in pvp already I suggest we can up this to the next level.
In ERA, the incentive of doing pvp is that many rank 10 gear pieces were pre-BIS or even BIS until AQ40.

Right now, with all the gear rework, the incentive is far less attractive.
I would like to suggest to add resilience to the pvp gear. Therefor, if you pvp, you will be able to rank up and receive a reward which will actually help you in pvp.
As of now any PvE god can come into BG and receive the “Free” damage reduction buff and outgear anyone.
I understand this is how it always was in vanilla, but keep in mind this is some sort of “vanilla+”.
People who are in BG’s all day, should receive a better reward for this activity.

Potential Future Issues
Unless being level 60 and AV will turn our honor gain to much bigger numbers, I’m affraid that beyond rank 11, it’s going to be VERY VERY hard for alliance to reach these numbers. In order to move 1 bracket at rank 11 , one will need 257k honor.
I have no current solution or suggestions for this fix.

I’m sure many people will hate on this topic for whatever reasons. I understand PvP is not the main focus of the team. however, PvP is a BIG part of classic due to it’s rewards and incentives. I wanted to raise awareness to these topics as I feel that we just have to accept everything how it is.

I’m either forced to play a version of WoW I don’t like or want to play, or “just have to accept” that things are how they are and will probably never change.
I love WoW and have been playing it since 2005, it hurts to see this go down so bad. And I haven’t even talked about P4 and how disappointed I am in many of the “new” features.

I really hope we can build some constructive suggestions and hopefully create an impact on Blizzard.

i think the most simple fix would be, to finaly buff the dmg of shamans a bit. we cant keep up with other classes.

Dear brother in arms

What premade means is something made in advance . What those people did is that they
have come together to play the game as we all did in SoD.
It is unfair to ask for them to be split .
Longer queueing times led to people making a premade and nullifying the afk players.
That is a problem in Arati because honour is focused on having bases more then on wining and it is a good split in the end . This should be shifted a bit there.When everyone was playing we had our fair chances.
The problem in WSG is that there wasnt any important healing gear or atleast the healing dagger wasnt there . So you dont have healers there .
The whole honour thing for every normal player is done in 2 -3 weeks.
For me may be 30 hours as a play time mostly licking boots.
This is all too easy for such a good gear there. This should have been 1 rank a week for
keeping experienced PvP players longer there and making every player doing daily Bg
for some reason. That honour useful for some unique food or potions outside of Bgs.

The only people still playing are either still part of an active guild (which there are almost none left) or people who are insanely high on copium.

This game is bleeding and will bleed out if things go as they are.
I have unsubbed, no1 cares I guess, but that’s the only logical thing to do.

SoD team needs to make everything hard mode again.
Honour system and Raids. If they can throw a challenge people will play.
Easy game is a fast one.

Yes, activate honor decay and make it much higher than it was. Also increase needed honor by 50% to make it not super easy to get rank 14

The problem was created by blizzard itself. Leave the horde racials as is, and boost the shamans during two consecutive phases… it didn’t take much more for the majority of PVP players to go to the horde side. Some will tell you that the horde is better, I have very good and long PVP experience as a warrior in bg and arena, I played human cause racial was better on wotlk
I think that at this stage the faction imbalance can no longer be resolved, WSG and AB will be deserted for the reasons you state, AV will overshadow everything and allow people to farm honor without falling into the abuses of this that we can see in AB. It’s sad for horde players, the majority didn’t ask for this, however the amount of shaman makes the game sickening, the only solution left will be to make horde vs horde bg possible but that will be enough. simply saying that blizzard will not have tackled the real problem of knowing how to better balance the factions to make the alliance more attractive.

They are introducing arena so classes need to be balanced .
We can look at every class, split their abilities into groups and count them after.
Hard cc , soft cc , dmg mitigation , mobility ability , movement impairing effects and
movement impairing effects removal. Stealth also should be considered as a powerful ability
that gives you the 1st strike. Trinket slots also should be accounted.
I dont want to see a class to rule them all or classes totally intelligible for that.

Where did they ever say they are introducing arena to SoD? lol

You are right , i think i got carried away with arena .
Even if it is only for Bgs and that some of us on a pvp servers.

horde have access to alliance’s racials by using potions
→ human: potion to see stealth
→ gnome: FAP potion
→ nelf: invisibility potion

NO potion/item can be used to have 25% stun resist, will of forsaken(this one is a big threat on healers making fear useless for alliance), tauren mass stun

horde got better kit for group fight, no doubts

I have 20% mastery in stun on concussive and people in the end have more resist.

horde can imitate alliance’s skills by using potions, but alliance can’t imitate horde ones

everybody can be a paladin for 30sec using FAP potions, and LIP
but nobody can be a shaman except shamans themselves

I surely agree in what you’re saying in some degree.
Decay could be a thing, not sure it’s smart to make it much higher as it originally was.

I hope AV does fix the honor gain for alliance, because as stated before, good luck farming 250k to break the first rank 10 bracket. Don’t even want to start about rank 11 and beyond.

After some calculations I also found some other issues.
Rank 4 0% needs 110k honor to rank 7.
rank 6 0% needs ALSO 110k honor to rank 7.
I highly doubt these numbers were cross checked before introducing because this makes no sense at all. I’m sure the system as is, is counting correctly following the bracket slots, but it just makes no sense.

AB and WSG are broken.
Give alliance shamans, give horde paladins. Then atleast “Class imbalance” is fixed, pvp and pve wise.
The racials, need some revising, but I’m sure it will be badly received by the community.
Make the lvl 60 ranked gear have resilience, PLEASE. Or add a setbonus on it with dmg reduction bonus in pvp. Give it an incentive at least

I don’t know. SoD had so much potential, and yes I know this is an unofficial Beta for whatever is Classic+ in the future, if it ever gets released. The dev team can’t handle a 15 year old relaunch (cata) and needs to copy paste wotlk spells into SOD. They don’t have the capacity nor the recources to properly manage a project like this.

From personal professional experience, implementations need more organizing, more resources, etc.
If we don’t meet the needs, we delay and communicate why.

I have unsubbed, guess in the meantime untill my game time runs out, ill fly around on my dragon on retail in azeroth and do “races”.

Yes its really weird they go from 0-4 and 4-7 were the honor gain is like you say.

Aiming for 110k from 4 to 7 and you end up missing 1k honor and you only get rank 5 and 80%
