People doing the thing they want to do in Roleplay, rather than asking if it’s okay.
I’d rather have people Roleplay their own thing and enjoying their roleplay in their group with the possibility of later joining in with the wider community with perhaps a toned down version of a character than someone coming up with something they want to play but getting turned off the idea of Roleplay because people on the outside of their group tell them they’re Roleplaying wrong.

is this just a sneaky reverse psychology pet peeve thread where you complain about something by praising the opposite of said something?
Regardless, some real RP awesomeness is people who wanna be the Rude/2Cool/Aggressive/Overly passive/Dumb character types, but aren’t shy of dealing with the potential consequences of their actions.

I’m 50/50 on that, I feel like it attracts the big not-so-smart dumb stupid unintelligent double digit IQ people who just go for random instakills because exx deeeee my character is le serial killer xddd

I still retain control over my character tbh. If I’m approached by a wild laughing skull type of zany rper who just wants to kill my character, he can really easily defend himself. Idea is that I go I to violent encounters with the thought it may end with my characters death. This has meant that my orc is more cautious he’s not wildly picking fights.

I just strategically leave those blank and leave it up to circumstances.
It’s more for myself than anyone else. Tbh.

I’ve ran previous events for guild members where they find out about their heritage and ancestors - it’s incredibly satisfying to know that your events have profoundly impacted a character, and given someone a whole bunch of new avenues to explore relating to their families and traditions that they may not have even been aware of.
I also remember hosting an event in Drustvar for the Night Elf guild I was part of - which very intentionally drew a lot of parallels between the Drust and the Night Elves, and gave a horribly unreliable history of the land. It was great to know that it was going to influence people’s character’s going into Darkshore (this was in November, I think, so 8.1 was still a few weeks away), make them question how far they would go for vengeance, and so on.
so yeah events that have a big impact
that’s pretty awesome

Running a few events myself and already had people say how great it was for character development and that it impacted people’s characters.

To piggyback off this, coming across someone you really click with. It makes every interaction with that person wonderful when you could talk about something so mundane as cooking rice and still be immersed and entertained for hours.
Those are the kind of people I remember years later.

When role-play turns out so well that, when you’re reading it back, it’s as if it’s straight from a sick novel scene of your favourite author.
I enjoy awesome dialogue that’s fit to be quoted and made an excerpt of - cool quotes that make you go “hell yeah” or arguments that have you at the edge of your seat.
I love it when everyone involved in the role-play has some form of profound impact or input on it.
