The new "Gear Update" option

Recently used this on a my lvl60 Rogue alt under the impression that surely an …“update”… means better gear…lol but apparently not.

My overall ilvl dropped from 265 to 187, I logged in to my Rogue being in an absolutely useless set of 187 green gear lol ? what am I missing here ?

Also, it reset every one of my action bars and just dumped all my inventory into my mail lol.
In the end I just went to go back to sqaure one, complete waste of time.

Unless I’m missing something obvious, I really wouldn’t waste your time with this unless you normally play in Greys and Whites or something

If u played that char for some time it will be useles to use it .

But if u had char that u just casualy played at begining of SL , or just dinged 60 and didnt play at all, then chances are rather high u will actualy get an higher ilvl overal.

Quest log clear is imho good thing there , if u log in after 2 years most of quests are obsolete.

All items going to mail is kinda useles realy .

So it’s “level appropriate” meaning entry level gear for the content of that level, not meant to super boost your toon as intended.

Edit: The action bars being reset looks like a bug, I recommend to submit a bug report about that one.

I get what your saying and I wasn’t expecting a “boost” but the ilvls are completely and utterly useless, and another thing I forgot is it replaced all my 30-slot bags with 22-slotters.

So basically the only way this thing is of use is to hit your desired level in whites and greys and log out for 60 days… cos your either gonna be 187 already, decked out in heirlooms or, in the time it takes for the Update to trigger, 60 days, you are gona be more than geared past that level just by doing world quests or something…lol

Welcome back, we’ve downgraded your gear, ruined your action bars and messed up your bags!

What a cool feature. When you see an “offer” you’d assume its going to trend you in a positive direction. I don’t think the OP was expecting his mid range car to turn into a supercar, but I don’t think he expected it to turn into a bicycle with 2 flat tyres.

I thought the idea was to make returners feel welcome, not immediately irritate them so much they remember why they left.

It would be generous to say this “needs improvement”.

leveling a fresh new 60 will take you to around 170 ilvl, so 187 is good enough to come back to (and it also matches the timewalking dungeon requirements).
