I didn’t need Wowhead to comprehend the system. I needed Wowhead (or more like HandyNotes) to obtain treasure knowledge points and the hidden master ones because they’re hidden.
I totally do And then getting demotivated since it should be casual alt gameplay for me
So Blizzard literally stated that the new system is more complex and it requires time to learn about it, and people still decided to go full blind on it, making choices without comprehending them, and you’re still stating that it’s Blizzard’s fault?
When making your first choice of specialization, which doesn’t unlock until you reach 25 points, a whole message comes up before you can even click “Use points” button telling you the decision cannot be undone, and you do not take your time to verify what your spec offers just in case you’re making the wrong decision?
To me, this whole mess of a situation provided by players comes from the fact you’ve sat down on a pretty basic system for so long that when you’re offered a much better and more complex system, you did not take your time to adapt to it because bananas.
problem this complexity doomed the order crafting system to fail. as i stated above on silvermoon server this morning requests were 9 and for object that reqired 19 renown with dragonscale. So useless. and one for a recipe comin from RAID.
I hope in these 2 years this sys will be a success. But i remember NW after 2 weeks had a LOT of crafting orders. It was the only thing that worked.
It’s not complex. It’s just badly explained in game, thats why we need wowhead.
But it’s a 5 minute read and then you know.
It’s a nice step, but can’t fix the fact that professions like eng are still nowhere near comparable in use or profit to the others.
There is still a mega unbalance between profession in terms of craft utilities.
Stated where? When?
Yes. But in the same time we’re bombarded with a constant spam message “You have unspent profession specialization knowledge.” So it comes that we must take our time to inform properly before spending the points, and in the same time are urged to spend them?
I do agree they should have not enabled items on the orders that are not available for crafting. There’s a “i” button on the item that literally tells where the recipe comes from and they cannot even read it’s from the raid.
Literally everywhere? One of the main points of this expansion is revamped professions. On each update they’ve given about them, it’s been stated. It is just disingenuous to neglect this fact.
Who’s forcing you to spend them directly as you gain them? That’s not true. It is your choice to spend them whenever you want. I did not spend a single point until I took my time to read every single perk of the specializations, and I was Herbalism 49 by then; just like I did for Alchemy.
Well, I did exactly this. I got this message and spent them.
Call me dumb if you wish, but the many topics about points reset are the result of exactly this “design” of Blizzard.
I’m not calling anyone dumb, I’m just saying people neglected themselves to have bad outcomes because they did not spend their time understanding how the system works. This is not Blizzard’s fault, this is the community’s fault because they’ve built themselves up to rush everything with no second thoughts.
I do agree they could offer more information on the journal itself instead of on quest chains so that it’s at the hand of people whenever they need it.
It’s Blizzard’s job to understand how their community reacts, and to present things to it in a respective way which would lead to success, not complaining.
It is also your job to take your time to understand and you just admitted you’ve spent your non-refundable points without giving it a second thought. Is that Blizzard’s fault?
Yes, it is. I just posted that we’re bombarded with a message which constantly urges us to spend the points. It does not disappear until we spend them.
No, that’s not urging you to spend them. That’s a reminder that you have unspent points in case you did not notice, so that you may apply them whenever you wish. You ain’t gonna die if you don’t.
Things already went into too much white-knighting. No use to reply to this.
I am trying to explain how an average player reacts, you keep defending Blizzard…
I don’t defend Blizzard, I do read the room and I know for a fact how my community works after 16 years. If the average player cannot deal with informing themselves to make good decisions, that’s the community’s problem.
If I add that this message is so large that it makes an annoying effect on my UI setup, covering the lower half of my square mini map? I’d do everything to get rid of it as soon as possible. So did many people, they just spent the points to make it disappear.
At the moment I am concentrating on the main game, so all this system is doing is filling my bags with stuff in case I need them in the future.
I get that. And I had the same.
But then I figured; well, I’ll look into it.
There’s much less hand-holding in DF, not only for professions, but for basically all the content. It makes it so players have to do some thinking for themselves. Imo that’s a good thing.
There’s always going to be guides and such for those that want to be hand-held. But yeah; you’ll have to go looking for them.
Ps: That’s not to say the system is perfect; there’s definitely things they could improve on.
I highly doubt this. I’m sure they’re well aware it’ll never be for everyone. I’ve pretty much always only used engineering (goggles for tmog, a few mainly pvp gadgets) and mining to collect some extra resources for engi but it’s just easier to buy from AH… it can be fun to mine nodes while leveling and such though.
An overhaul was needed for their target audience I guess. They just gotta keep on listening to feedback and tweak some things, that’s all.
