The new quest UI is abysmal and possibly buggy

Please Blizzard fix the new quest UI before launch. Here are the issues with it:

  1. This is possibly a bug, because if this is working as intended then yikes. The issue is that randomly the UI decides to change the quest you are tracking to the default one (that being the 1st in your list). I am constantly fighting with the damned damned thing because I want to do the side quests (or the quests that are nearest to me),

This is especially annoying for quests with several completion steps as tracker resets to quest 1 every single time you complete a step of the quest you are doing (as you can imagine this makes it very difficult to follow along with what you are doing). This is an absolute must fix before launch.

  1. The map quest markers are weird. How it used to be was when the quest was not completed it used to show 1/2/3/etc. and when you completed it showed an “?” on both map and quest log, how it is now it’s 1/2/3 regardless if it’s completed or not. The old way was a much better way to track completed vs not completed quests. Please give us a way to revert to the previous tracking method.

EDIT 1:

Opening the map, changing zones (pretty much every time your map changes from one zone to the other, this includes entering a capital city), adding a quest to the log (includes auto accept quests and pop-up such as bonus objectives) causes your tracked quest to default to the first on the list. Probably more reasons are causing this I will keep updating this as soon as I find them.

I don’t like the removal of the numbers, it made it a lot easier to identify where a quest was at a glance, compared to all of the quests showing “…” in the new zone.

They didn’t remove the numbers. They removed the “?” icon. It’s all numbers now ( and "…) if the quest is in another zone).

The tracker changes have been annoying me too and are so counter productive. It used to track by proximity which was much better. There also used to be options to set how they ordered but they seem to have been removed for some reason.

Before I could put multiple WQ on my tracker with ctrl+click in the order I wanted to do them, that no longer works. I complete one and it then tracks the first in the list, not the next I choose in my selection. If you happen to pass a WQ area where you didn’t track, it just stops tracking your chosen quests altogether.

… and why is it that the race quests still wipe your tracker every time we do one!

Good catch. I haven’t done any WQs since they nerfed the DF ones, and I’m still leveling in TWW.

I think that the tracking resets and wipes are bugs.

Yeah the race quests wiping the tracker is a bug that existed before prepatch changes and has existed for a long time now, ever since they fixed some other bug with the tracker.

There’s also another bug with the new tracker where sometimes the quests or objectives don’t even show up on the tracker so you can’t track your progress.

I did notice when doing the Pre Patch event that when I picked up the quest to kill the Lich King or whoever that the Tracker didn’t start tracking the newly picked up quest like it used to. I had to manually click that in order to find the spot to go to.
I had assumed this was down to the fact that we were supposed to be doing all these other bonus objectives to empty the bar before the Lich King would spawn.

Not a big fan of the new map icons in general but I’d probably get used to them eventually.
