The new UI is really, really bad

I’ve gotten another month of playtime. And man, did I found the UI changes bad!

I mean, no classic mode. In the sense that it is exactly like the old UI. (Why not?)

If I position the action bars as it was, it is above the chat window, which I cannot resize! At all! And I do want my action bars centered so I have to overlap. Did the designer work on a 45 inch monitor with 16k resolution or something?

Then a lot of movable parts stick to some other parts, but not the one I want or the other way around. This makes moving parts annoying.

Edit2: And why can I not ctrl-click to select multiple parts? If I wish to move all my action bars, why do I have to do it one or two (if stickied) at a time?

There is no option to get the Bar Art besides both bottom bars if they are side-to-side. Now the action bars are ugly, boring and square.
Edit: I just noted that you can resize the action bars back to their original normal size. This is something at least… (Yes, I was kinda positive about one thing haha)

Last but not least, the miniscule menu buttons and bag icons. Really Blizzard? Do I have to pixel-precise click on those icons? Besides that they are also gotten much more ugly then they where. Who designs very small buttons in the same indistinguishable colors?? Why is there no option to enlarge this whole corner or icons? Why make everything changeable, but not that tiny area?
Edit3: And of course it can be even worse. The XP bar cannot be moved as well.

There even is a bug with that XP bar at max level. When you click on a reputation faction and enable Show as Experience Bar, the current bar is overridden. Then, if you disable it again, the bar is just gone forever. Also, the tooltip of this option says the exp bar is above the action bar, which cannot be guaranteed anymore.

So, my rant is over. But I do feel that this is trash compared to what it was. And that is saying something!

Because it’s not just a visual redesign, it’s also a technical rework.

In edit mode, right bottom of the chat there’s a resizer you can drag to make it larger or smaller.

Not sure how this works, but it’s still infinitely better than not being able to move it at all.

Would be a nice feature yes

As always, you can install an addon to fix this for you: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/movablemenuframes

There’s also a WA that recolors it.

You’re entitled to your opinion. The thing is, this UI is objectively and infinitely better than the old one.

Wanna know something even more disturbing? Their systems/UI team has 135 people “working”…

Do you have any experience coding? No? The little things will likely be addressed in future

Just use addons and all your problems are solved.

well some old quests bugs with new UI otherwice it is OK

As i say it again mr genius, go have a job intervieuw at blizzard HQ because it seems you are the one they seek you can code a whole bunch if things and no problems at all, you also know humans dont like changes and thats a fact. Yes there are alot of bugs and i am sure they are going to fix them.

Blizzard is NOT using world class programmers from India, who would take 100+ dollars per hour. Maybe under Microsoft. Current base UI is dog. Old was miles ahead. Including options menu.

New UI is not perfect but great, better than old one. People are complaining about everything these days. Major plus to new UI is that I don’t need to use add-on for it ever again.

the old ui was OUTDATED if you cannot see it, also delete the freaking game i am really sick of hearing complaints etc

Old was FINE. It needed only ability to change and remove 1-10 hot bars wherever player wanted to move them. Im not going anywhere. If you can’t take any criticism gtfo fat bear. Im here to stay and I love WoW! Until the day I die.

Is there any need for the self righteous smug self satisfaction that exists in this post where you call someone Mr Genius and tell them to go and get an interview with Blizzard?

I really wish people would learn not to leave the kinds of post that you have here. You are not adding anything of value to the thread.

The idea that nobody can criticize the new UI purely because you appear to disagree with them is patently a nonsense.

Everyone is entitled to express their point of view.

Maybe you can tell us all here how on earth does the company and the employees learn without customers expressing their point of view.

For the record the new UI is total pants. It failed to properly take into account the accessibility for those who have sight issues as the size of the text even with the UI scaling in the graphics settings ( accessibility settings) turned up to maximum.

Then there are other issues with the UI scaling turned up to its maximum. a lot of the icons are too small for example the guild and settings icons on the right.

Then there is the fact that with the UI scaling set to its maximum size getting the UI to fit into a reasonable portion of the screen is impossible due to other elements that it is not possible to resize like the minimap. Currently the minimap takes up one third of the right hand of the screen with the UI settings set at their maximum which then means that the whole UI takes up far too much screen real estate.

Just because you appear to think that the UI is perfect for you does not mean that others do not have legitimate issues with it and they are perfectly entitled to express those points of view.

This is the second post you have left with this kind of response.

Nobody forces you to enter threads where issues with the UI are being discussed.

Is there yet again any need for the kind of passive aggressive response you have left here?

Do you think telling people to quit the game while also telling them that their opinions matter less than yours does any good for the community here?

Maybe you should ask yourself what kinds of effect your posts have on the community here.

That is a matter of opinion.

For those who have sight issue the new UI is a considerable step backwards.

I do not think Blizzard did any testing with the new UI for those who need to have the UI scaling set to its maximum 114% as there is no way to fit everything into the available space.

It’s hard to have a genuine discussion when you start with an over exaggerated claim. Really, really bad is objectively not true. Are these things that need polish, absolutely. Is it better than what we had before, yes it is. The old UI had zero customization.

Bartender 4 shadowed unit frames, sexy map, baud bag all working fine

Yeah but i dont use or like those. Why should i download addons to be able to play?
Plus those addons dont fix the tradeskills ui . You cant see which skills gives lvl up, you have to manually click each expansion.
Its just so messy… seems unfinished
