The newcomer chat has broken down

I don’t know how else to put it. I have decided to leave it. At this point it is literally nothing but spam and insults 'round the clock, and players would be much better off not being in it. I suggest its total removal.

There is this one guy who spams every single day about doing something to peoples relative. I can’t say what he exactly spams because I would get a perma ban on the forums. It seems he gets banned and just makes a new account every single day.

How much does that friggin cost? Do trial accounts have access to the newcomer chat? Good grief.

I think trial accounts can chat in newcomer chat without spending anything. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Most immature adults are just seeking the attention they don’t get from real life, due to no friends, their family hating them or whatever the reason is.

Just ignore them and they’ll disappear. They continue with the spam because people react to them.

Honestly you should probably tweet them about it. Say something like “Is this the new player experience?” and then post a screenie of it. It’ll get their attention more than here.

Ah, the dude with the Hunter characters. Dude creates new accounts all the time and then uses a script to automatically flood the chat before the flood-protection stops him.

Were you there when I advised players to report him for text and spam, and someone else got offended and said that even suggesting it makes the situation worse because I “feed the troll” by reacting to it?

Never heard of that happening. Most I’ve gotten is “thanks, will report them”. I hope nobody does this to you again

Yeah he’s still at it after literally over half a year of doing this stuff.
I truly wonder what goes on inside his head. He might wake up on a random weekday, drink his coffee, looks outside and think ‘ahh what a nice day, time to spam new player chat with insults’.

Weird.

Yep, I know exactly who you’re talking about.

But that’s just the beginning of the problems. It’s also been filled up with boosting spam for levelling and mythic 0 dungeons.

There’s also gold selling spam.

There’s a lot of random insults as well.

Also, the guide tag appears to be gone. Or Blizzard finally got fed up with me idk. Haven’t received a warning, but I’m not seeing it on anybody.

And perhaps worst of all is that there are almost never new players using it to ask a question, so really what’s the point?

No, they won’t. Trust me on this. Twitter and FaceBook has so much spam and bots that they’re interacting with one another autonomously.

These people take pleasure at the mere thought of potentially having upset someone. Whether he sees any evidence or not is secondary.

I don’t use X. If they want my feedback they can visit the forum they specially set up for the purpose.

I used to, back in 2014. It was a horrible place full of horrible people. And some Blizzard employees were part of the problem, even as others became my friends. Not going to name names.

It’s buggy. I often don’t see the baby murloc in chat either.

I’m not a newbie (I am a guide) every time I make a new toon stormwind is almost impossible to visit unless I disable services and trade first, perhaps these should be disabled by default as it’s a really bad impression for new users.

Blizzard can always put a screen up showing people how to turn it on, if they want it.

Newcomer chat is a failed experiment, not only is it riddled with bots and trolls, but it also fails to teach new players how to interact with the chat system in the game. A lot of newcomers are really toxic and dont understand how to switch chat channels, so whenever they are having a fit at their dungeon group, they put it in newcomer chat for everyone to see. That, and the ammount of broken macro spam and “wave” messages.

O yea, I left about a year ago. I was getting spam reported in there for genuinely trying to help. I was pretty known too, always active. Countless times I would invite people into group and help them kill elite mobs they struggled with or fly them to a far away town etc.

But, people started spreading misinformation about druid (you know, the class I am expertly knowledgeable on), so to prevent new players from being misinformed and mislead, I decided to correct them. A day later, I received a notification from Blizzard that the way I communicated was not in line with their ToS bla bla. Obvious as to what happened, I decided to just quit that newcomer chat, it just isn’t worth risking my account for.

I genuinely enjoy helping new players, especially new druid players, but I’m not gonna sit there and risk my account being flagged. Nooope, nooo thank you, I’m out.

Also, I turn chat off in Solo Shuffle, because I heard a similar thing happening there, even to people who said nothing bad. So yea, typing is risky in this game.

Amazing how reducing the customer service staff, has had a negative impact on customer experience…who’d of thought…

Given that by far the most fun I have is in guild hosted events, I feel Blizzard should put a heavier emphasis on how to find a guild that meets your needs into the tutorial part of the game. A simple thing to read through explaining the dangers of giant guild groups that don’t really do anything as a guild, and how to use the guild finder etc.
