The night elves future

So it seems the Night elves are abandoning their ancient home after they fought so hard to reclaim it from the Horde, to move to the Dragon isles. (which makes absolutely no sense what so ever, but really…has anything made sense with the lore…for years?) Does that mean Kalimdor is going to be “fully” Horde moving on? But doesn’t seem like Eastern kingdom is going fully Alliance any time soon…

The night elves never all lived in one place as they weren’t exactly city people after the sundering. Yes maybe most night elves will go to Amirdrassil, but there will always be some in Kalimdor, Val’sharah as well as any other place where night elves might live.

Ancient home? Darnassuss was what, 30 years old?

Darkshore, Ashenvale, Felwood (halfway cured), mt hylja, desolace (again halfway cured) and Feralas still exists.

Oh and not to mention Val’shara.

Kalimdor was their ancient home ,yes
In the past 10.000 years they lived in the forest, burrows and small little settlements, not even had a “capitol” since Zin-Azshari…
So I can’t really understand whats all this fuss about a ~30 years old tree - not even blessed one - was lost

For the majority of night elves, I’m sure the ‘fuss’ was more about all the family and friends who were killed in the fire.

More like roughly 11 when it was burned in BFA.

Wasn’t Teldrassil made with bad intentions?

Created shortly after the Third War the new tree was not blessed by the Dragon Aspects at its birth, unlike its predecessor Nordrassil, which would ultimately leave it vulnerable to corruption from the Emerald Nightmare.
Archdruid Fandral Staghelm took over leadership of the night elven druids, while Malfurion was trappen in the Nightmare and convinced the Circle of the Ancients in Darkshore that it was time for the night elves to create a new World Tree and regain their immortality.
The intention was good, to have a New World Tree and regain power and immortality
Just the implementation was… a bit… faulty

…I beg you pardon?

Anyways, I wouldn’t be so sure about NE settling on the dragon isles… Upcoming tree patch rewards an AXE as new legendary. That new world tree might just become raw material for some very expensive Valdrakken furniture…

It’s not really a big issue tbh.

I’m just glad the story is over and we can move onto something interesting.

Can’t be *****d to look up the correct name of things.

With the history so far regarding the trees. It’s going to become corrupted…

What ancestral lands? Tel is a burning heap, dark shore is blighted, felwood is Felwood, hyjal is a refugee camp for some, and Ashenvale is still a mess. The best option for them would be to become Island people and separate their main population centre from the rest of the world with their closest cultural allies the Green Dragon Flight while trying to restore what was lost on Kalimdor which they already are doing in the heritage quest.

Remember when Night Elves were badasses?

Man, that is so long ago - but after war after war, then genocide, it is only natural that there are no badasses left. They are spent and gone.

Now only the cowards and craven remain, the weak and vournable. They should indeed isolate themselves on an island, to have their safespace.

Because, Night Elves are not badass anymore, they are a bunch of noodlearmed lame hippies with headtrauma.

Honestly, they should’ve stayed in the care-homes in Storm Wind. Bringing them to a new place is a severe risk of them dying off in self inflicted accidents during simple acts as… trying to eat, or getting out of bed.

That is the Night Elves future under current story direction.

It does feel very 70s baby boomer free love nonsense where what makes their culture interesting is being washed away when you expect them to try and retain it more due to the genocide they just experienced.

If anything, they should be getting more extreme and insular due to their lack of numbers and the likelihood that their society and race will fade if they can’t control their territory, if they have lost significant parts of their population, if they are refugees. Then what use are they to the alliance they claim to be part of?

A nation that cant project its power and defend its borders is no nation at all. If this was still warcraft, Turelyon would extract oaths of fealty and subjugation from Tyrande expecting forms of tribute and claims over night elven lands as he will have to provision resources and find the men to defend it.

In all situations, if any people found themselves in this situation their ancestral lands and their subjects would become just another providence of stormwind and you would expect the human nobility to divide their land into their estates and forcefully convert night elves to the light.

From what I understood from some discussions on this, the tree will be in the Emerald Dream but that doesn’t necessarily mean the Azerothian version will be in that particular spot. I would prefer if it doesn’t end up in DF but somewhere in the kaldorei homeland. I guess it’s wait and see how the story will unfold.

So do I. But it doesn’t look like it will be. It would make the entire reclaimed/rebuilding of Darkshore to be meaningless, then they should just have let the Horde keep the Darkshore as the Night elves is not going to be there anyway. And also the Tree seed have the power of “Life” and “Death”…could have easily just used it to give life to the dead husk of Teldrassil. And then Blizzard could made the Roots of Teldrassil reach Darkshore and give Darkshore new Life that makes the forest and land of Darkshore to look something between Ashenvale and Ardenweald forest.

What reclaiming and rebuilding?

Last i saw of Darkshore was the eternal back-and-forth of the warfront, which i suppose counts as reclaiming because a mission table text said so at some point, but rebuilding? Pics or it didn’t happen.

With the "Exploring Azeroth Books " we get the info the N11 acually recalimed lore wise Darkshor but its a toxic wastland.

If the Night Elves do eventually get a new Teldrassil, either in another location or in place of the stump, it will be amazing. A completely new redone hub. Practically unheard of to get updates for cities other than Org and SW.
