The Northlands Discord

(A-RP/H-RP/N-RP)

Simply put, the Northlands Discord is an IC-Forum based server focused on the Alliance RP in the North. There’s a lot of roleplay that takes place beyond the Thandol Span, and hopefully, this can be used as an avenue to aid in spreading such.

We’re focused on the regions beyond the Span, which often have been staging grounds for some gruelling RP; Alterac, Lordaeron, Stromgarde, Gilneas/Silverpine etc.

If you’ve got a fondness for writing or have written; stories, conceptual work, by all means, go for it! Does your character have some lost family home, or comes from a forgotten village that you want to share? Go for it.

Above all else, word flies across the Lorn Kingdoms, from letters to noticeboards. Initiative is cool.

With recent changes, there’s been additions to the fold being High Elves, and the Dwarves for Alliance. And also I’ve decided to open up ranks to the Horde aswell, more specifically being the Forsaken, Orcs and Sin’dorei.

  • Rules

Blow the oboe of OOC shenanigans elsewhere, keep the discord chill, and focus on the RP.

There’s minimal OOC text channels. General chat, rp-screenshots and linking AA/forum posts. So really, it’s not to be some OOC fun social hub, just a place to share stories. So out-char RP politics genuinely is blindingly boring to hear.

  • Advertising & Guilds

If you want to advertise your guild, an event etc, you may. Same goes for ranks, right now they’re solely based on the character’s birthplace or affiliation.

  • Events

Whilst I don’t anticipate RPers will be going out of their way to DM or drive ten leagues of novella into an evening. Gatherings, feasts, war-planning etc seem the more likely to come from it/Awareness of the spontaneous happenings across the realms.

Anyways, have a good Christmas and new year

This is a good initiative to expand the RP opportunities in the northern regions, thanks for setting it up. Look forward to partaking in it.

Aren’t those more like “The Midlands”? We have the entirety of Quel’Thalas further north on the continent, to say nothing of Northrend being the crown of the world. J’accuse!

I do appreciate the effort put into decentralizing RP from Stormwind et al however, absolutely the best of luck to you.

Khaz Modan is the midland.

Pretty sure the equator-equivalent on the Eastern Kingdoms is somewhere in the Wetlands. Technically Khaz Modan, and we’re talking its northernmost region.

And that’s if we don’t consider Sunstrider Isle or Quel’Danas as part of the EK as well, in which case we’re talking Thandol Span or Arathi Highlands being the true middle of the continent.

I will concede that anything north of the continental middle is technically “northlands”, so the title does hold up to scrutiny on a second glance. Mea culpa.

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Northlands

Say what you will for poor Arathi, but I would not have thought of it as a southern region.

The human land of Stormwind, on the continent of Azeroth, and sometimes the Arathi Highlands are referred to as the southlands in comparison.

I already conceded the point though. It seems to boil down to cultural nomenclature, rather than geography.

Yeah, it’s reasonable to say that anything past the Thandol span can be considerred in “The North”, even if it’s the southern part of that.

The Equator talk raises an interesting question: Where exactly is the Equator on Azeroth? My first guess would a line going roughly from Uldum - Zandalar - Stranglethorn? Although it could possibly be even further down, out to sea.

Edit: A fantastic initiative by the way, OP!

From the perspective of the elves, which that lore blurb is in, Arathi would be the southlands of Quel’Thalas.

Pinned flyers dispatched across the Eastern Kingdoms.

Death has held a stranglehold over the Northern Kingdoms for too long; only a fool would deny the many lives sacrificed the justice they deserve. War in the blistered Eastweald continues against the Scourge and the Banshee Queens’ runts, who have unsurprisingly shown their true colours regardless of how many pardons they’ve had.

Lordaeron, Alterac and Gilneas all alike have been sundered and laid-to-ruin for decades, the roads and borders left unchecked for the likes of bloodless invaders to reap freely. A neighbouring kingdom should always spread its concern beyond the Thandol Span, as has been throughout our history.

A conclave shall take at the ninth bell upon the thirtieth day of December at Fenris Keep. Concerning the lands beyond the Thandol Span extended out to both orders and parties of the Alliance, Argents and free companies. The leylines to the pit of Old Dalaran, Fenris Keep, is found in the centre of the Lordamere Lake.

Blood and honour,

OOC Event Info

  • Kicking off just before New Year with a pretty simple politically and militaristic driven get together gathering at Lordamere.

  • Naturally, playing on themes attributed to the original Warcraft Lore.

  • All are welcome to attend, from southrons to mages from the clouded summits of Dalaran. If your character has a keen interest in the North, pretty much.

  • It’s very much a white banner and flat table democracy; there’s not to be an appointed host/leader.

Date: 30th December, 8:30-9:00 realm time introductions begin, gathering at Fenris Keep. See where it goes from there.

With alot of success following the first gathering at Fenris, on the 30th, a good growth to the community already.

There’s definitely going to be a follow-up.

In light of the new year, going to be leaning towards writing in and growing a troll-threat themed plot across the Northlands. Which was mentioned at the Conclave. Enjoy the read, pce

Of Steadfast Vigilance

People of Arathi!

Our kingdom remains beset by ire by our foe of old, the Forest Trolls. A warning to all travellers, traders, and parties; the eastern roads of late have fallen under the helm of a burgeoning number of raids.

Outriders and scouts of the forest report their growing numbers; in the dark of night, boldly plundering in the heartlands of our verdant folds, leading our crops ablaze by the torch and thieving our kin for the iron knife of ritual.

By the month, the trolls carried out a ruthless ransacking and slaughter upon the villages of Arbouridge and Thistleberry. Few survivors were found and sent to take refuge in the Sanctum. Arathi cries for vengeance and mourns for the loss of life.

May our brethren hold vigilance in this time of need.

Esarus thar no'darador,

Ethen,
Segeant of the League of Arathor.

Following the continuation of the growing open-plot regarding the recent/growing forest troll menace.

Are there no hordies in the Northlands?

There are, tho this server is alliance cuz that’s where the rp is gonna be focused atm. No point joining as a horde and nothing is happening

Perhaps things will change in the future, but would rather build things up

I feel like you’re kinda missing out on a lot of fun and spontaneous RP possibilities. Like, instead of having set events where you fight forest trolls, there can be actual forest troll players attacking people on the roads.

Big thanks to all parties involved and for everyone being great sports (not even magic can mend the heart of an upset RPer.) What was entirely -freely- and spontaneous driven roleplay was glorious, especially with the strong emphasis on story and character development. Rest in peace to all those who fought and died valiantly.

It’s warming to see guilds getting involved, and individuals as well; bringing life to the open-world scene

Stay tuned for the future.

1.1 Fenris Gathering

To all who pride the sanctity of the Lorn Kingdoms, the Northlands shall gather on the thirtieth-day nine bells.

Harking; sellswords, soldiers, knights, and nobles that hail from the Seven Kingdoms, dwarves from the clans, and quel’dorei to amass at Fenris Keep.

The recent dismantling of the Scarlet Pretender’s ranks has left the eastern borders exposed. One fire in one kingdom snuffed, yet hundreds more shall blaze our fertile lands. Like rats to wintery granaries, the savages of the forest have grown bolder, making legwork whilst eyes were turned. More innocents hang by the day.

The Troll Menace shall be addressed, by the sword and spear and their splintered tusks; a call to arms to rally against the fiends and send them scurrying back into the woods from whence they came.

As a Fenris Conclave, there is no helm of the order; every present will acknowledge that feuds and bitter hatreds are to be held at bay for the duration of the gathering. Every man and woman has their right to speak, and raise further plights threatening the Northlands,

By blood and honour, we serve,

Signed,
~B.D

OOC Info

Following up from the first gathering, this will take a similar format and approach; an avenue to establish connections, plots and more initiative across the Northern Realms for those who wish to partake.

30th January 8:30pm realm time, Fenris Keep

Naturally, all are welcome, and following the great success of what occurred at the Monastery, here’s to hoping more will come in the future.

Any questions, feel free to hmu ingame or on discord.

I do very much recommend joining this discord if you’re at all interested in Northern RP! I’ve been a bit too preoccupied with pre-existing RP plans myself, but are very often cool things in the works and there are plenty of lovely guilds and individuals represented on the disc server. Many thanks to AHL for taking the initiative!

Pretentious announcement 1.1

With the project now underway for 2 months, it’s been great seeing new faces and people openly getting involved throughout the world, with more guilds coming into Stromgarde as a tributary for the Northlands.

As Hjalla was wondering about the Horde a month prior, I can say that now the discord is opening it’s doors to those of the Forsaken, Blood Elves and Orcs.

And following the recent appearance of the High Elves and Dwarves, I’ve thrown in some extra ranks for them now.
