The NPC in Dire Maul that you can attack

I really wonder how come that Shen’dralar Watcher hasn’t been hotfixed since 4.0.3. He can give you a quest, but you can also kill him and the quest isn’t available to players anymore. I usually run to him before other party members to grab a quest before someone attacks him accidentally or on purpose - like it happened today.

So there are 3 cases:

  1. Nobody kills the NPC
  2. Someone accidentally attacks him
  3. Someone kills him on purpose so that nobody gets the quest

Is there some kind of reason why the Devs didn’t change him to be friendly after all these years? It really is a minor problem, but I’m just curious.

Still don’t get why we can’t mount up in that damned place. It’s so freaking large, and the placement of the quest givers causes maximum backtracking…

Do you then share the quest?

Portal in and out the dungeon so much easier.

That’s all well and good but you then have to come back to the instance after it’s reset to hand in I think.

When you kill the guy in the library bit you can portal out and in to hand in but you then have to walk all the ay back to the library bit to collect your reward,

In vanilla the whole instance could be done without having to enter each part separately but they locked all the doors which is another source of irritation to me.

It’s not elite npc. So mostly people kill him if someone attacked him by mistake. So not point of sharing quest if he is dead

Maybe next time you go in you can complete the quest.

Dire Maul is one of my favourite instances (I find it very fascinating) but at the same time it’s one of the most annoying because of that quest guy and all the pointless running at the end of the dungeon.
