There’s no " oh here we go bois " moment.
I mean look at WoD / Legion / BFA trailers.
They really put you there, played with your endorphins and made the hairs stand on your arms.
This did none of that . It didn’t rile me up to take arms , prayer books , staves to get into the mood for a new expansion.
Nothing of substance really happens in this one, just some characters doing stereotypical stuff and some cool looking vistas. No narrative, no action, no emotional punch, no “hell yeah!” moment, just pretty visuals.
I shared it with friends and an ex -guildmates who still thinking re-subbing to WoW for this expansion. So far 6 of them said this trailer didn’t fan any flames inside of them.
I’m giving it a 4/10 for being pretty. As a WoW vet , it did nothing for me inside.
Lastly that Hronrir was in the trailer for a long time , if they aren’t a playerble allied race by the end of this expansion. Huge miss for Blizzard. Although I know some will be dissapointed to have another Troll/Elf playable race. Sorry Tuskarr RP’ers =[
I’m glad to see them trying new styles for cinematics but I do miss a bit of storytelling in these cinematics.
The music is amazing, the art is top-notch as usual, and the character and world design look fantastic. As a WoW veteran, seeing a Nerubian in a fully rendered cinematic is a dream come true, I’ve always wanted to see one in this style.
Oh, and yes, Harronir definitely needs to be an allied race, i would honestly think of maining one or it could be potentially my most played alt.
I’d give it a very strong 8/10. I just want a bit of story in these and it would be easily 10/10 for me.
All show and no substance. Doesn’t explain anything about the expansion or the story at all. Looks cool to those of us in the know even though it’s not very exciting but I’m not sure lapsed players will be swayed by a montage of what they will see as seemingly random fantasy imagery.
3/10 for presentation only. I don’t think it’s fit for purpose as a marketing tool… but, the Avatar memes might work out as great accidental marketing.
They didn’t bother trying to come up with dialogue or a monologue related to the expansion like they used to do. It’s completely disorganised and easily the most boring cinematic trailer Blizzard has ever made, light years away from anything made before 2020.
It looks cool, but as many of the recent trailers it’s really poor at storytelling. Usually WoW cutscenes grab the watcher through a dramatic, narrative presentation of the expansion’s main themes. Lately it’s manly pretty shots and characters acting all cool and posing while looking at the camera. I fully expected one of them to wink at me at some point.
This will never not feel cringe to me, it’s just childish and empty.
Everything else is sick, and the powerlifting dwarf was pretty cool, although maybe he should have called a few buddies, the thing looked heavy.
I don’t like it at all.
What is Avatar’s NAVI race doing in WoW? We have awesome looking trolls. Use their models.
The black woman reminds me of Reverend Mother Prava from D4 and the armour is like the one the knights of Cathedral of Light wear.
Why not use something more WoW related?
Considering we have pretty much had several monologue trailers regarding the new expansion, I think this one is pretty much fine.
I find it extremely strange you’d sit and say this one is terrible when the war within has pretty much had several cinematic trailers tied to it and this being the finale which is clearly showcasing the last of what’s on the table.
Overall its fine not super cool but nice and as for people trying to rip on the paladin for the whole crusader of light stuff why would you complain about that? Literally an example that Warcraft CAN have similar ties to the Diablo universe which could mean we might get armours in the future that don’t look straight out of Disney.
Comparing Disney to Warcraft is just as ridiculous as comparing idk Marvel to Game of Thrones.
Every single Disney movie has engaging plot, deep and complex characters, layered settings… Warcraft (in the last few years at least) on the other hand…
Very much this.
Have the same opinion as Spìte.
It doesn’t feel WoW to me. I am not fond of any of the new character designs – not even Alleria, whose new design, imo, ruined her.
What’s with all the females constantly being pushed though? I wanna see some badass male leads.
I liked it, it reminded me of the original cinematic and tbc one way back when. Did it tell a story? Yes and no.
No in the sense that it’s seemingly unconnected scenes but yes in the sense that put together they imply a build up to something. So for me it did what a trailer is meant to.
I personally find it very classically warcraft, but more in a throwback sense. It’s not a narrative trailer, it’s an ‘old school’ trailer, for lack of a better wording.
If it is , it is supper boring . Did they forget to add dialog , or maybe it is unfinished ?
Sitting there looking at nothing happening . This could have easily been screenshots .
Why is the dwarf pulling the chain ?
Why is the avatar thing doing a dance ?
Why is the black woman looking at the camera while dressing ?
What the hell is even the point here ?
Honestly 0 from me as a trailer .
Here’s the BC trailer , which is also random characters doing pretty much nothing , but the voiceover makes a huge difference . They also seem to be heading somewhere to do something . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBHL_-biMrQ
In this one , they are just doing something for the sake of nothing + cool vistas . Honestly the current trailer just makes me think it is unfinished .
The in-game trailer we have is also supper boring . Just sitting there , looking at Thrall and Anduin talk and give each other glances . SNOOORE .
I know I’m a bit of negative nancy, but honestly, what’s the point of this cinematic? Where’s the hook, the plot?
It just feels like one of those AI generated diorama slide show things. What are they actually promoting here?
I mean, if it wasn’t for the dwarf I would not have guessed it was even WoW related.
Felt more like something out of Diablo trailer than from World of Warcraft.
If you would remove the Earthern one, you probably wouldn’t notice it’s for WoW by the cutscenes alone.
that is the point Uda but they would rather complain about something than remember the other trailer they got regarding TWW which had some of the best cinematic tech used alongside some of the best voice acting also.
