The only melee healer goes down. Here's why

Hello,

First of all, if you don’t play paladin at 2k rating and you don’t prove it by posting from your paladin, just shut up and go read other topic. This isn’t a discussion for the everyday trolls here on forums. This is serious :stuck_out_tongue:

I play this Holy Paladin since forever. It is my first char and I play wow since 2007. It’s never been worse than now as damage dealing in arena. In understand to nerf the healing if it is too much, but WHY the DPS ??? This is the ONLY reason to play holy paladin in arena, a plate healer class. It’s the only healer who could take on another melee dps in 1v1 and stand a chance … or at least it used to be like this …

I love to play in arena PvP a hybrid style, doing high damage and also healing when needed. If you want to stay away and heal, just play priest, druid or shaman - not sure what happened to the mw monks …

This melee range play style is possible only for paladins and actually encouraged by the system, since the mastery forces you to stay in melee range to heal at your best and the plate armor helps you take 1-2 more mele hits compared to cloth / mail / leather.

  1. My Word of Glory is using 3x holy power to cast. Nerfing our mana regen actually is a great nerf to Crusader Strike - I cannot afford to play this talented ability in melee.
In conclusion I cannot regen enough holy power to cast word of glory. So the high mana cost of Crusader Strike ruined the newly introduced Word of Glory. Design flaw ? For sure in my opinion. Now EVERY paladin is playing with Divine Purpose and hoping to have a free WoG from time to time … this is how bad it is now. Why didn’t you nerf this in PVE too ? No complaints ???

  2. In 9.0.5 Holy Shock gets more expensive mana wise … this is the other holy power generator. Crusader Strike talent reduces by 1.5 seconds the Holy Shock cooldown, but the cost is so high, that you actually don’t even want to cast Holy Shock offensively. So this is another nerf to our main heal - WoG and another nerf to our offensive abilities.

  3. Before you nerfed Divine Favor - right now this talent is almost useless in arena, since even a blind man can interrupt a 2.5 second cast once Divine Favor gets purged. Why Divine Favor can be stolen or purged ??? This talent is now useless, unless you cast it behind a pillar. Then why do you keep the mastery for close range healing ? This is a nonsens and whoever created this system, created a nonsense of a class. You should redesign EVERYTHING then ! Make the mastery healing effect equal at any range. Make any heal (Flash of Heal included for any target not just Beacons) a Holy Power generator. This fixes a bit the class.

The only real FIX for the paladins now is to reduce the mana cost of the offensive abilities, to a point where the paladins can be played offensively, in melee.

So. You want to play paladin as a ranged healer, but every holy power generator requires almost melee range. What is the point in having a paladin then ? We cannot dps anymore in arena, because we’re out of mana instantly.

Let’s see some other healers now :

The druid can dps in cat form, so no mana involved at all.
The shamans ranged healers, dps-ers, cc, everything ranged, no mana issues compared to paladins now.
Disc priests are also doing everything ranged - damage, healing, CC. Can go oom.

So right now the paladins are in a very bad state in arena as melee healers. Since even our 2 main CC’s - HoJ and Blind are melee ranged. So … almost everything is melee or 30 yards for paladins.

Some paladins are still playing a range style, not giving up their toons yet, but if you just go and check the arena stats of the last week, most of the 2k+ holy paladins are under 50% win rate against other healers.

This is why in my guild I’m again the only holy paladin left in pvp. Right now I’m playing protection and doing just PVE.

I’m not having any fun anymore in PVP, since I’m out of mana instantly if I play offensively. Is there any developer playing wow at higher rating using a holy paladin ?

Not sure this belongs in the Customer Support Forum. Support agents hold no sway in game development.

It belongs here in my opinion, because it is stating developing issues.

They created a melee healer class only to force it to play ranged, against better ranged classes.

It’s a nonsense that should be adressed. I pointed some of the major design flaws.

They don’t have a dedicated support forum for design issues. This is why I posted here.

I was trying to in game suggestion form, but I get no answer there. I’m sure that section could be deleted from the game and nobody would even notice.

If any GM reads here, then please move this topic to the correct developer sub section of the forums …

Thank you Shammoz. I guess you’re correct.

Here’s the thing, Shamans and Druids, so not the only Melee healer.

Also they don’t take feedback via the forums.

You don’t play at 2k on the char you posted from. By your logic it makes your pov irrelevant.

If we get past that ahem ‘logic’, its not for you to decide who may or may not contribute on topics.

Finally, wow, great assesment of the obvious. Hpalas were OP as hell, the changes you were crying about brought them back in line. I mean God, imagine mana being a cost of going offensive. The horror.

You posting with some random alt does not make your point much more relevant either.

Since when do these classes heal as meele? The only meele healer besides Paladin is the monk.

Shamans is not melee at all. Even their interupt is ranged shamans prefer close togheter for aoe but so does every healer really.
Druids uses moonkin not feral weaving this expansion so that is also not right.

Enhancement is not Melee? I’ll have to remember that.

Healers is the clue, enhancment is a damage dealing spec not a healing one.
Restoration is the healing spec.

Then melee healers don’t even exist.

Fistweaving is a melee healer glimmer paladin is a melee healer.

Honestly i can’t tell if this person is trolling or not. Paladins do NOT need to be in melee ranged to provide sufficient healing.

Paladins DO have damage in PvP, infact they have the overall best damage in PvP.

Paladins oom the second slowest out of any healer atm.

Paladins do NOT share the weakness that shamans do, which is not having super cd’s off the GCD and usable in CC’s.

If you’re whining about paladins, go play a MW and we’ll see how you do. Paladins is legit still completely viable and the nerf only took them out of the flat-out-broken tier.

All true except the mana, paladin runs out of mana very quickly nowadays, even more so since 9.0.5

You can always play inflorescence legendary and generate holy power with cheap flash of lights. Also in arena you play bestow faith which is another generator.

Other than that you still have double bop, double freedom, sac, bubble as well as a 40 second 20% DR wall. Holy paladin was extremely strong before nerfs and while it actually has mana issues now, they’re still better than disc and mw mana wise. They’re still good, just not overpowering every other healer spec.

You also have nice damage if you go mad paragon and play venthyr.

That is subjective. Holy paladin wears plate because Protection and Retribution wear plate… that does not mean that Holy should be forced in melee range. Holy paladins only got their first melee spell in Cataclysm. That means for two expansions, you supposedly had “fun” standing on auto-attack mode, while others had fun casting and doing their job: healing.

Again, armor is not an excuse. Many classes have had armor buffs to boost their rating despite their weaker armor types: moonkin/tree of life/bear, Inner Fire, mage armors, warlock armors, magic Shaman uses shields. If anything, armor compensates for the limited mobility of Paladin.

That just sounds like you want to play Protection or Retribution, then…

I agree that the cost of Crusader Strike feels bad, and that the range of the stun does not match with the pillar hugging and run away style, style that also does not match the dumb Mastery stat of Legion. It is a rather conflicting class and it is clunky that the meta positioning is not the one that Blizzard tries so hard to push with Mastery and Crusader Strike. They should make a talent to select my preferred style, like Lone Wolf, and Gladiator Stance. I believe there was one close to that in Legion, that looks similar the Shadowbreaker, Dawn of the Sun legendary power.

Well now im not going to read anything you’ve had to say but post anyway.

You know… i find it funny how he wonders what happened to MW monks and proceeds to grieve about mana issues.

Totally agree about divine favor though.

Yes they do. Paladins. Several integral parts of their healing style revolves around being in melee. While I don’t agree with the OP, I think he’s just salty they nerfed how ridiculously OP it was early on.

MW Fistweaver (dead atm).

But yes melee healers do exist.

Also, opening with telling people if they ain’t 2k “go away” when you are not is …sad. A 2009 achievement or not. And for someone who played paladin since 2007 and called their classic, ancient heal. “flash of heal”

Be respectful and you will receive it back. Some people know the class very well without 2k XP
