Well I don’t think it need infiltrate other difficulty settings, but as we saw with the Mekkatorque mount, rearranging the loot in LFR can have powerful effects on player behaviour.
You could make all bosses in a wing drop loot from the same loot table, which would incentivise killing any and all of the bosses, as they’d all have a chance to drop the desired item. The negatives would be that specific boss kills would be less exciting, but in LFR I don’t think we care about that.
Or you could only reward loot once the entire wing was complete. However that would penalise people who don’t make it to the end for reasons they can’t control e.g. disconnects… which would be a real problem.
Or you could give a guaranteed random drop at the end of the wing for the first completion of the week, and leave boss loot as it is now.
There are options, but with a bit of creative thinking, Blizzard could easily create an environment which encourages players to stay to the end, with no detrimental effect to the game. I believe it is called ‘nudge theory’.
Problem with lfr is caused by HC elite raiders, that goes afk 5 secs into a boss fight because they cba, then gets kicked by normal players not wanting to carry his fake eletist butt through content, that is according to him, beneath him.
LFR should just be 10 man boss arenas(you spawn infront of the boss no trash). Then they should have similar to normal damage but without tankswitch mechanics, so these groups just need one tank. Then you just check boxes for the bosses you want and click queue. Sort of like how the “specific” dungeon tool works. Instead of having the AP and gold show as “additional reward” they could just split the total sum of all 3 wings and add it to the bosses themselves.
Whould basicly solve most if not all problems with the mode. Since what I really disslike are the afk:ers during trash that takes massive time to get to the boss/get locked out etc.
I used to run it a lot for the augment runes, and at this stage I just ingnore all the whispers for loot. I found like you said most of those rolling don’t need the stuff anyway. In fact I wonder other than augment runes is there anything in there people actually need unless it is like on a one day old alt.
So in short:
I only want to kill the first boss and leave! Why are groups filled back?
Answer:
Because people like you leave, when they have killed the boss they aimed for and already ongoing runs are filled back with priority (and rightfully so). The other players waited for their invites too.
Just kill the 3rd boss and don’t get deserter, that’s faster than waiting 30 minutes (and if I am not mistaken you are less likely to get queued into a group for a boss you already killed - at least I wasn’t put into ongoing groups after I killed a later boss).
It’s 3 bosses and normally you clear them in half an hour.
If you could queue for single bosses only the one rewarding good tank (or at least for tank classes) equipment would be run. You really don’t want that.
You clearly have no clue.
M+ is premade content. Compare it to normal or heroic dungeons. Oh, and you can’t queue for single dungeon bosses … hmm, that’s strange.
It is cut into small pieces because people are supposed to finish the run (all 3 bosses - or 2 in case of some smaller LFR areas).
Then people would take the easy way and chain the easiest bosses until they drop their item ? Maybe it could work for LFR but i don’t think it’s a healthy system for raiding.
How about increasing the number of bop profession item looting from the last wing boss ? And allowing people to trade them for something else ? (Ressources, gold, reput, currencies, mount, toon BoA items with decent ilvl ect, anything that might appeal to most players)
It would allow people to get something out of a full LFR wing while also benefiting raiders
However some of the suggestions are just plain silly here as to what should be done with it. Leave it as it, it is after all tourist mode to see a raid.
I know within the next six months I’ll be lucky to have time to play any computer games. Will be glad to just have a look in LFR if I get time to log into wow.
I don’t have the time to raid these days either and I still believe it should be removed. As you said it’s a tourist mode. Raids should be the pinnacle of PvE and exclusive to those that put the effort in.
Besides normal isn’t even that difficult these days.
Time, nothing to do with difficulty. For me the only raid presenting difficulty is Mythic, and that is because I wouldn’t be able to time commit to a Mythic guild.
LFR is about time, and for people who don’t have time to do any other form of raiding.
