We’re going into the 4th expansion of M+, a mode that Blizzard themselves considers the 3rd pillar of WoW endgame.
Dragonflight all about dragons and one of the key features of this expansion being “Dragon riding”, Raiders get a reward for this new feature, PvPers get a reward for this new feature and M+ers do not. M+ players get a large ground mount, in an expansion about flying dragons.
In one of the new dungeons you have to specifically use the new dragon riding mounts. -
Is this not a bit nutty? You’re not going to use this in the open world and you’re most likely not going to use this in the dungeons themselves even if there are some dungeons where you can mount up, due to its size alone.
Tier sets are officially back, forget the 6 weeks M+ers have to wait to get tier sets, I’m not even arguing about that, but just cosmetically speaking M+ers still do not have a tint for their mode even into the 4th expansion. Everyone knows a good transmog increases your damage by 30%.
I’m not asking for any mode to have their rewards removed and I understand Blizz’s thoughts in some sense with the “people who partake in all modes”. It just kinda sucks, that as someone whose sole focus is M+ and hearing Blizz say yes it’s the 3rd pillar, you can’t help but think: Yea Mythic Plus is the red headed stepchild of WoW.
Not to make this a conspiracy thread but recall reading a thread on Reddit a year or two ago that provided some very compeling evidence that Blizzard deeply regreted making M+, despite that they officially claim otherwise.
I don’t know if the stuff in the thread was ever verified but they had screenshots of discord logs from former Blizzard employees among other things that painted a very negative view of Blizzards own opinion of M+.
Going to see if i can dig up the thread or at least some of the evidence posted there.
Infinitely repeatable and scaling content is kinda the holy grail because it keeps people engaged a heck of a lot longer than just doing something like a Gold challenge mode and ticking the box and saying “done!”
Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me, even while I was writing the post up I was thinking, “wtf?”. The thought of them specifically excluding M+ from getting a dragon riding appearance and that there’s a dungeon which specifically uses the new feature… kinda bonkers.
raiders get a full stransformation for they’r Renewed proto-drake that makes it look like Razsageth, The storm Eater.
Gladiators from PVP get a full transformation for they’r highland drake that makes it look like this:
There’s always one. Okay I’ll bite, “mounts” what do you believe is Blizzards thought process behind the mount they chose as the reward in an expansion with dragon riding? Of course instead of talking about the points I bring up, lets discuss how ungrateful M+ers must be and how shyt M+ is as @Nevermonk wants to say. My apologies for enjoying a particular mode they you don’t.
But honestly, I’d be happy if tier sets were available for us from the 2nd week instead. That 6 weeks is just too much a wait. And even then, the ilvls we have are still going to be lower anyways, so what’s the point in gatekeeping us much longer?
I also haven’t heard an item drop buff. 2 for timing a key is still very low and at the start of SL, having only 1 piece drop on an untimed key was just very offputting. It wasn’t worth playing the mode save for KSM.
I mean, even at the end of SL I struggled to find any drops, let alone upgrades.
