Not everything, just the things that do.
If the system is being abused and you are actioned for something wrongly there is an appeal process.
Believe me mate, everything is reportable nowadays. I’ve had friends that have been reported for saying nothing wrong that didn’t break CoC, and they got suspended… They appealed and it got lifted right away. They wouldn’t need to appeal in the first place if someone didn’t abuse the report system, and if they actually checked the reported comment/s.
Like I said, you can get punished for even the smallest thing these days. So that’s why they removed all those fun emotes, because of people that easily take offence. Which is most people in todays world.
Really? you know its a video game right? Do you manage outdoors at all? Utterly stupid. Like people who complain about being assaulted in VR. Go learn knitting.
If that were true you wouldn’t have misunderstood so much.
Yes everything is reportable but that’s not what you said.
I actually can knit, learned in Primary 6.
I have been hit in the face with a pingpongball before, so this offends me.
Truer words were never spoken.
What exactly does “It’s inappropriate” mean? Well, as defined by their ToS. Which is a bit… odd. For example it’s technically against the rule to refer to killing and murdering and other violent acts. In fact, on the forums, it is generally disallowed to discuss basically any aspect of the game… except crafting I guess. Because… this is World of Warcraft. That’s… what we do in the game. We murder. By the thousands. I know it’s not real, but real is surely covered by real-life threats, right? A section of the rules I whole-heartedly endorse exactly as written.
You’re also not allowed to post unreleased content, but Blizzard has a close working relationship with WoWHead which literally made an entire multi million dollar business out of doing exactly that for EVERYTHING in the game, so that’s fun.
But the real kicker is “are otherwise considered objectionable”.
Or “making non-constructive posts”. Aha, and how am I supposed to know what that means ahead of time, exactly? Very strange. And apparently you’re not allowed to link to other forums and other video platforms, so if something about WoW worth discussing happens somewhere else? Well, too bad. Except nobody actually gets punished for it lol
I have NO idea what that means. I think it means whatever the mods want it to mean - a carte blanche to do… whatever they want.
And the worst part: You can’t ask, because that’s also against the forum rules, and you can’t reply to their messages informing you that you broke the rules, either…
You know it’s funny - from 2005 to 2016 I knew the CM’s on this board very well. We always met up at DreamHack and we had a wonderful time. I had several of them on Skype and even MSN messenger. Now… ? No idea what’s going on.
I tried to make one of them come out and chat. Was fun for a while, then he vanished. No idea where he went. I miss it - he was funny and kind.
You may not find it offensive, but I tell you, as someone who actually got spit on disrespectful IRL already during my time at school as a kid, I can tell you it is VERY weird alongside being offensive to do that.
Same goes for farting. What the hell is wrong with you if you have the urge to go over to your friend and use a /fart emote on them? You may find that funny and perhaps your friend too. Doesn’t change the fact that others have to read it in chat too next to you.
You can still write a whisper like * farts on you * without anyone else having to read that weird you and your friend are doing.
Puny, you just lost some “good noodle stars” on the chart. You use TikTok?
They removed some of the lines for emotes too .
Like the blood elf female flirt emote .
It no longer says :
“Do you have a mana worm in your pocket , or you re just happy to see me”.
Apparently it is too offensive to someone , even though it has been in game for close to 15 years .
Also I miss the spit emote in PvP . I still type it sometimes on impulse and than get even more annoyed when it does not work .
I use most social media.
cartoonish choking noises
“Impossible”
America being america, bringing their ‘politics’ or what have you into a video game. I remember when people used to do things without needing a safety blanket, even though theres safety triggers in place like an ignore feature.
Whats next?
Going to stop people t-bagging / putting a banner on your corpse???
It’s crazy. Need to be on your tippy toes constantly. I remember when this world had some backbone.
That’s an issue in todays world, social media.
I was bullied throughout my school years, and guess what, I know how to have a joke and laugh even at silly things such as farting and spitting emotes.
This made me lol reading it. Because it’s funny, Me and my friend know how to have a laugh, and we have a great sense of humor. It seems quite a majority of people these days, sadly, don’t.
Enjoyment is getting taken out of many things these days to appeal to the current generation. Call me an old biddy, but life isn’t as fun as it used to be with all these rules in place.
Is T-bagging actually reportable? I tend to do it to the horde when I kill them in BGs / Arena for the lols.
I really miss the jokes that each specific race had…
At least you can still read them here: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Jokes
And honestly…none of them are offensive.
Now I definitely feel old… I use NONE.
I am exhausted that even toasters require your Facebook account to make them work.
Dont know… In my experience as a kid, even the /piss and /beat emotes wont bother me. Because I got through that phase.
I understood as an adult that its better to be bullied in school but have a cozy and stable home. Than to bully kids at school but have “issues” at home.
I moved on. This is a video game.
Nothing is offensive here. Try 4chan or Reddit if you want offensiveness. That is the real deal. Where people can actually hack you, track you, and affect your IRL in very serious ways. On top of insulting you with zero censorship.
And they do it just “for fun”. Just to troll you. WoW is nothing compared to that.
I’m old
I don’t think age really has much to do with it. It’s just personal preference and there is nothing wrong with that.
I do have to laugh at people who sneer at Social Media though, what exactly do they think they are doing on forums. You pick the formats you like and take part in those. Or you avoid them all and do none and that’s also fine.
I’m still most active on Twitter, despite all the spin offs. But I like to read through Reddit too and stuff like Tik Tok is mostly just fun and entertaining shorts. Others spend hours watching YouTube or Twitch and good for them.
While you got spat on, plenty others were physically or mentally bullied or abused much worse. Do we remove all displays of violence and disrespect then? Obviously not.
We shouldn’t be sheltering everyone from mundane and ultimately harmless things inside a virtual world just because they might bring up some bad memories for some people.
Getting punched in the face is a lot worse than getting spat on/at, yet somehow the former is just fine while the latter was found so offensive it needed removing. Give me a break.
