The rogue rune "Just a Flesh Wound" needs a change - now

It is extremely frustrating to pull/tank a boss with this rune. You literally need to get combo points (atk + global cooldown) and be able to press blade dance (requires combo points + global cooldown) BEFORE the boss hits you for the first time, or he might one shot you with a thrash that hits 3-4 times instantly. Then, you also need to keep the buff up 24/7 or risk being one shot (enjoy trying to do that without addons). This makes main tanking as rogue a total pain.

I am going to compare “Just a Flesh Wound” with the biggest defensive tank runes for classes that I know of:

  1. Warrior - doesn’t have one, doesn’t need one. Was designed as main tank in classic so has a lot of defensive potential even without runes.
  2. Warlock - Metamorphosis. Gains 500% armor, can’t be crit by bosses, increased threat and better life tap. It is a button that u can press before the fight and lasts endlessly.
  3. Shaman - Way of Earth. The shaman gets the following boons while having rockbiter weapon on: more threat, more health, can’t be crit by bosses. Again, this is something that they can activate before the fight and they do not need to refresh it during the fight.
  4. Druid - Survival of the fittest. This class was also a tank class in classic, but still got a rune. This rune makes the bear uncritable and reduces damage taken while in bear form. Again, you can activate bear form and never have to exit it during the fight.

Have you noticed a pattern? Every single horde tank class that has a rune to fix their “tankiness” in SoD, is a passive or a skill that you can activate BEFORE a pull and there is no need to refresh the skill DURING a boss fight - except for rogue. Not only does a rogue miraculously have to generate combo points and press blade dance before the boss gets to him, they also have to keep up blade dance 24/7 during the fight. If it wears off, you can easily get one shot during the fight. Tanks in SoD have to think about: threat, mitigation, positioning and mechanics - why also add “uptime on defensive rune that no other tank class needs” on that list, specifically for rogue tanks?

A suggestion for a solution would be to just turn the rune “Just a Flesh Wound” into a passive. It’s not even a straight buff, so people will not use it in pvp, since it also: reduces dmg by 20%, reduces dodge by 50% and only adds physical dmg reduction, not magic.

Fix your game Blizzard.

It’s been this way since the beginning and I very much doubt it would change. Blizzard doesn’t want rogues using envemon as a tank I guess.

Would have been nice to make it so the buffs are all active when blade dance is equipped, as in doesn’t require to be active to gain the benefit, and Blade dance is just a parry enhancement finisher to keep up as usual. But the threat and Damage reduction becomes passive.

You get used to it though. Just gotta get used to mashing that sinister strike button as hard as possible now

The whole rogue tanking style felt really clunky, so i just stopped tanking with it alltogether.

The CP build-up before you can start tanking is one of them. Felt like i had to do alot of effort just to be able to tank, and when i went tanking on sham it was completely different (and way easier).
Made me less willing to go back tanking on rogue.
