<The Sea Lion> - Kul Tiras Military Roleplay - Ship of the Line

A Call to Arms
Citizens of the Alliance,
The Proudmoore Admiralty seeks able bodied sailors and marines to serve aboard her Stormbringer Class Ship of the Line, The Sea Lion. Now the war has ended, our seas have been overrun with pirates, naga, and other forces that call into threat Kul Tiran and Alliance supremacy on the high seas.

The Sea Lion is a state of the art vessel, boasting several heavy pounder cannon across it’s gundecks, three fully rigged masts, as well as a resident Tidesage as is customary aboard all Kul Tiran Warships. It also features an armoured prow, as is typical of it’s class, forged from Stormsilver, that may be used as a ram should the situation call for it.

There is also utilitarian, but comfortable living space, with two galleys and a mess hall, stocked with plenty of food and drink for long voyages. A sailor aboard this vessel can expect a starting pay of twenty five silver a month, with much opporunity for advancement as their service continues.

However, only the most disciplined may be found worthy to serve. The standards of the Kul Tiran navy exceed those of other nations, with a sense of duty and decorum being paramount in the character of our soldiers, sailors, tidesages and officers. Many may strive, but not all can make the grade.

With this in mind: for those who meet our criteria, we offer a life of adventure, duty, and reward for those willing to strive in our ranks. Opportunity for advancement in plentiful, and though on duty our discipline must be beyond question, off it we may rant and roar like true Tirassian Sailors.

Sign up now! For Kul Tiras, and the Alliance!
Signed,
Sir John Rackamore,
Commanding Officer of the Sea Lion,
Commodore of Anchorguard Squadron.

OOC

Hello all! Rackamore here!

The Sea Lion is a Kul Tiran Military Guild, that takes much from the doctrine and traditions of Napoleonic British naval tradition, though edited for a fantasy setting. We’re looking for people who don’t mind the disciplined side of military roleplay, and are willing to put the effort into making this guild what it could be.

The emphasis on this is to ensure that we may act as would be appropriate for sailors and soldiers in the circumstances we place ourselves in, in a manner that would not be unseemly for those in military service.

Rank System
Currently, we have the following ranks-

Foremast Mariners:

  • Mariner
  • Able Mariner
  • Petty Officer

Junior Officers:

  • Ensign
  • Lieutenant

Senior Officers:

  • Commander
  • Captain of the Marines
  • Flag Captain

Commanding Officer:

  • Commodore.

Foremasters are generally free from OOC responsibility, beyond the odd event they may choose to set up. Junior Officers are entrusted with responsibility over foremast mariners, and are expected to aid with at least a few events. Senior officers are expected to aid in the running of the guild, the creation of campaigns and events, as well as the diplomacy and standing with the wider community.

Location
The Ship we use to represent the Sea Lion is the large Ship of the Line just in the Sound opposite the Proudmoore academy.

Archetypes To Join
If you are thinking of joining, I’d encourage being or creating a character with a love for either sailing or the military life. Ideally, though, Kul Tiran characters with a sense for the naval tradition tend to fit the bill best.

More to come from me and my officers. Until then, “See you on the water!”

A word from the Captain of Marines

The Marine Corps aboard the Sea Lion are tasked with many things. Our main priority being the protection of the ship from potential boarders given she is a Flagship of the Lord Admiral’s Navy.
As a Marine in part of our Corps aboard the Sea Lion, you will be expected to be able to follow orders, give acceptable input to situations where you may think something is overlooked as well as looking out for the safety of your fellow Marines and the ship we call our home.
This cannot be done without respect, discipline and militaristic response, especially in the case of an emergency. They don’t happen often, but they do and should not be taken lightly.

What we expect from our Marines:

  • Willingness to learn.
  • Respect for orders and your superiors.
  • Be well presented in your issued uniform while on duty.

What you will gain in return:

  • The respect and ear of your superiors.
  • Responsibility and the opportunity to make decisions.
  • Progression through the ranks of the Marine Corps.
  • A sense of family aboard the ship.
  • Travel upon the seas of Azeroth to places never reached before.

We do not ask for much apart from your skills, although dedication, discipline and respect are paramount in keeping a well formed Marine Corps who can work together for the safety of all involved in carrying out their duties.

Consider yourself up for the challenge? We would like to hear from you.

Signed,
Katherine Rackamore,
Captain of the Marines

– OOC –

Hello there everyone.
Our uniforms make use of the Proudmoore Admiralty tabard along with them. Uniforms are mandatory while your character is on duty/during events, however if you do not have the Proudmoore Admiralty Tabard, you don’t have to wear one with your uniform.
Uniforms are easily gathered and involve questing and dungeons in the BFA expansion. Many members often band together to gather these things so assistance is always available as fellow dungeon runners and questers to get the appearances needed for your mog!

On the Post-War Naval Activity
Of course, with the end of the war, one may believe the hazards of the high seas have lessened. Not so. If anything, the dangers on the waves have become more subtle, and therefore more hazardous. In the war, any ship that sailed the red, or any other Horde flag, was a foe of Kul Tiras and the Lord Admiral’s Navy. While relations of the Horde have become more cordial, what with the end of the Banshee Queen’s tenure as Warchief and the armistice, in the mean time further enemies have presented themselves. They are more insidious and far more subtle than the Horde. Loyalists, Pirates, the Naga, Smugglers and all other sorts of other creatures now roam the seas, emboldened with our losses in the war and strengthened through our strife. Thus, we must remain vigilant, even while others celebrate.

Another point of fact is the necessity of remaining professional and courteous when dealing with our former enemies. Whatever the view of the Sailor or Marine, the view of the Admiralty is that the preserving of the peace is paramount. This means sucking in the pride of the honest Jack Tar, and smiling in the face of each Orc, Elf, Undead or Zandy that one meets while ashore, and that no attempt to subvert the peace be brooked. We need not like the Horde, we need only remain courteous in our distaste for them.

With all this said, the Lord Admiral’s Navy is the finest on Azeroth, and we of the Sea Lion endeavour to be the finest of all her ships. Let none find you wanting, and hold your head high.

Victory for the Alliance! Glory to the Lord Admiral! And honour to her own Navy!

-Commodore Sir John Rackamore,
The Sea Lion.
