According to the patchnotes, starting on the 17.11, to fix visual issues the characters will no longer hold the selfie camera.
This turns the selfie camera into… just a screenshot.

Considering the selfie camera was the main content in WoD, I think it deserves a proper fix.
Oh that sucks. If we didnt want to hold the camera we could just press the PS button. It might be a bug because it would be pretty illogical to remove this animation.
It’s not a bug - it’s intended, it’s in the patchnotes for the 17.11

I hope they fix that! What’s the point of using the toy if it does basicly the same thing as a print screen?
Come on… I bet most people who use the toy do it exactly because the character is holding the camera… I even have it in one of my action bars for when I wanna take a random selfie…
Same I have thousands of selfies of my DK. It would be a shame if it no longer worked… this is seriously the saddest I have ever been about reading patch notes.
I’ll be fine if they added a selfie stick, which made the camera work like a screenshot. But I think the selfie camera is terribly charming the way it is right now and should stay like that.
It’s bugged for some races isn’t it? Zandalari trolls iirc and maybe others. Seems silly that they’re completely changing it instead of fixing the few races which are broken.
it’s not even “completely changing” it, it’s just a screenshot now. The functionality is removed. There’s no difference between the “new” selfie cam and a screenshot with your UI removed

Do you still have access to the camera filters for the different effects though or are those removed as well? I never use them personally, but those at least would make it different from a standard screen shot.

Anyway, don’t care. They can do it though, don’t mind that, either. Just as long as they don’t make quests with it again…
I’d rather they try to implement reflective surfaces into the game using raytracing and maybe even show our characters in 1st person so we can admire ourselves in mirrors

Good. Selfies are stupid, as much in game as IRL. Besides, it’s an MMO, not a single player game. Just ask your friends to take a photo of you, like any normal person would.
Back in my day, we knew how to make good photos. Selfies aren’t even close, good riddance.
Why not just add a button that lets you toggle arm on and off. It’s not like it’d be that hard to switch between idle poses…
Players: “Some races aren’t able to use the selfie camera properly.”
Blizzard:“We hear you.”
Proceeds to make everyone unable to use the selfie camera properly.
Same, especially now when we have a huge number of players in Icecrown hunting for rares, I’ve taken so many selfies that my old HDD is about to overflow
