OK, perhaps this is the only thing that currently interests me. What’s the fate of the seven kingdoms?
Stormwind - active and thriving. Alliance - affiliated.
Kul Tiras - active and thriving. Alliance - affiliated.
Stromgarde - it’s said that the Alliance won, so active and thriving. Alliance - affiliated.
Dalaran - we haven’t seen what’s going on since the end of Legion. Presumed active, thriving. Possibly still neutral… or no?
Alterac - perhaps totally abandoned? Syndicate pockets? Too ruined… unworthy to be reclaimed?
Gilneas… Oh, Gilneas… that’s the big question. What’s going on there? With Lordaeron gone and Stromgarde rebuilt, why is Greymane still sitting in Stormwind or helping night elves … instead of going back to homeland?
Lordaeron. Another big question mark. Surely, the capital is blighted forever… but what’s going on in the other part of the kingdom? The rest of Tirisfal? The Plaguelands? Stratholme?
I would not be to supriced if the forsaken under Calia, for some reason inhabit gilneas sooner or later, becuse Gilneas is not realy worth it for the worgen now anyways, due to the blight.
Arathi thriving? It’s glorified garrison made by Stormwind’s money, with king that has no heirs and is about to kick a bucket. Stormwind is spent, war consumed almost all of their resources. So I wonder how any nation is currently thriving atm. The process to get back on feet takes years, unless there is some serious outside help.
I suppose Lagaran has it best becuase it didn’t participate in the war, but the rest?
Kul Tiras - Healthy, Alliance, Home to one of the mightiest fleets in the world (it was not destroyed in 8.2);
Gilneas - Ruined/Plagued (though I believe the Alliance occupied it in one of the war table quests), It’s people are affiliated with the Alliance though;
Stromgarde - Healthy, Alliance, It was reclaimed and rebuilt when the Alliance won the Arathi Warfront;
Dalaran - Healthy, Neutral;
Alterac - Ruined, its people are scattered;
Lordaeron - Ruined, its people are split between the Alliance survivors, Forsaken, and the Argent Crusade.
While thriving is obviously a stretch, being rebuilt and (supposedly) supported by the Three Hammers leaves Stromgarde in a far better position compared to the ruin that was before, if we take the Alliance controlled version of the warfront as any indication.
Danath being old or not having heirs is besides the point. At this point is time, Stromgarde is rebuilt and firmly in Alliance hands. Besides, should they decide some time in the future to focus again on Stromgarde and/or Danath, if that plot dictates that Danath has a heir or that he should be replaced as king of Stromgarde by a Trollbane more marketable, then one will appear. It happened with Rastakhan, who had no heirs until the plot focused on him and demanded that he has a heir in the “newcomer” Talanji, and it can happen with Danath if they decide so.
Regarding the other kingdoms:
Stormwind is still intact land-wise, although supposedly drained as hell by the war. Obviously Alliance aligned.
Kul’Tiras I could argue is far better off after the Fourth War than it was before. Its Houses and lands are united once again and the rather ineffective Catherine has been replaced by the, supposedly, better Jaina. It suffered a great blow by losing (a part? / most of?) its fleet, but now that House Stormsong and the tidesages ceased playing Cthulhu Catholics, shipbuilding can commence again, I suppose. Alliance aligned.
Dalaran is firmly neutral still, since Khadgar never broke neutrality during the Fourth War. Currently MIA, but since it didn’t participate in the hostilities, probably well off.
Gilneas is a Schrödinger’s Cat of a human kingdom, in that it is simultaneously blighted and not blighted, possibly inhabitable and uninhabitable.
Unless I missed something, Alterac City became Horde controlled after the Siege of Lordaeron. They were planning to rebuild and fortify it. That was the last we heard of it.
Lordaeron’s still fragmented between various factions. The city itself is uninhabitable, but other parts of the Tirisfal Glades like the Bulwark are Forsaken controlled. Andorhal is still Forsaken controlled, as well. Hearthglen and Tyr’s Hand are controlled by the Argents, Light’s Hope is controlled by the Silver Hand, as of Legion Stratholme was still Scourge controlled and there are various pockets of Scarlets and Scourge. Overall, the same mess as usual.
I don’t really forsee any story development for the Seven Kingdoms in the immediate future. Things will remain as they are or in limbo, until a plot or other decides to revisit any number of them. Given that we are going full cosmic forces come Shadowlands, I doubt that we will hear anything from such an “earthly” theme as the mortal kingdoms anytime soon.
