The Single-Button Assistant will add an unremovable crutch

I see this number thrown around and yet seen 0 evidence that this is the case. Most people point out the amount of m+ done a week while ignoring that most players on average do 8 per week for vault.

Until blizzard announces actual numbers its safe to assume that current sub count is sub 1m which is a 95%+ decrease from peak.

Financial reports my good person… start with them and educate yourself.

I have changed the mattress over the years. I had one other long-ish term bed before my current one but I can’t remember if I ever played WoW on it.

I’d never even thought of it and how long it’s been.

Yes, we should ignore player activities done and go right to how much they made from store mounts, tokens, pets, character serves as an indicator for sub count.

I mean most news outlets estimate the player count to be like 7m from finance reports so who knows.

Why play the game if you don’t want to play the game?

Basically same thing what I think when I see ppl using bots or scripts baked in their dps rotations to kill totems and whatnot in pvp, which are cheating in any case.

Ppl are creating macros with 3rd party softwares from their keyboard and the like to have rotations as 1 button which I think is already meh.

I play with 5 euro basic keyboard that doesnt have any of such and I press all of my buttons myself, I think thats kinda the whole point of playing a video game anyway to play the game themselves instead of script or bot doing it for them.

This is not botting yet but its automation, there is automated bot AI in pvp that ppl are running to cheat the game for eons now so I cant but frown at these type of decisions to bring more automation in game when I see the harm what the existing automation is already doing.

Open classic wow: Frostbolt, Frostbolt, Frostbolt, Frostbolt, Frostbolt. Millions of players :joy:

Lets look at it like this, blizzard made $15-$17m for the brutosaur which sold at $90 each (was less for eu people) and according to wowhead/dataforazeroth 19% of players currently own that mount. At $90 a pop that would mean 166k players purchased it, so by thos figures the game has about 850k-900k players currently.

In other mmos which had some smart castsequence addons that recognized conditions changing or procs and altered the prios in the castsequences based on that, addons as such got prohibited as automated gameplay. Because the sequence understands to switch dispel higher on the prio when enemy gains an dispellable magical effect and such. It depends how smart they make this 1 button rotation to be but I consider it as automation in any case if its the player pressing 1 button and something else helping him to play the game. Its also one step closer on making automated gameplay allowed, will they start allowing scripts next that only perform kick when there is something casted and otherwise doesnt put the kick on cd and the kick is baked as part of some dps rotation removing all the thought from players end :man_facepalming:

It’s a design error in the end of designing classes in a way that’s too bloated to make parsing in warcraftlogs more interesting for hardcore-raiders. I think the game would also do fine, if we had 4 damage skills and 3-5 utility skills. They could add combos instead with 4 skills, where skill sequences trigger abilities

Well that I agree that the game is too bloated with everything from modifiers to abilities since dragonflight and especially now in tww for certain specs, but in any case thats an another topic, this topic seem to be about automated gameplay with 1 button rotations and whatnot. Game having too many abilities or not is another topic that deserves another thread, and in any case one does not fix an problem by creating an another problem or “making things right by doing wrong” in a manner of speaking. But I do agree with you that they bloated some specs for df designs and tww for whatever its worth.

Ppl are using scripts baked in dps buttons that yeet totems without them thinking about it, same what they have been doing for kicks. Im not very fond of these type of automated thoughtless gameplay especially when I see what it does in pvp where some people are already pressing button thoughtlessly and letting script or some automated other to help them while the rest are trying to play the game honestly.

We literally have people in LFR who do nothing but autoattack and just spams one ability ever since it was first introduced more than a decade ago… what crutch are you on about that isn’t already there [due to disability or pure laziness]?

If someone wants to push higher end content they wouldn’t be doing so…

Swear, people are making a mountain of an “issue” out of an anthill. Nevermind the fact macros exist that essentially already are “one button”… which will get you kicked from a normal difficulty raid because of its subpar dps.

Regardless, Blizz should just roll out a demo of it in action comparing to a competent player’s dps to show it ain’t a game breaker with the dps loss.

I think its concerning if they are adding automated gameplay in game, will there next be addons with automation that will start becoming allowed that currently would be prohibited as automated gameplay. Depends how this 1 button automation will be implemented on the code and if it opens door for cheating to be less easier to detect or if they simply become more lenient on allowing automation, some variables that can come out of this what are conserning me.

It’s a repeated AF because the previous one wasn’t funny enough.

Yeah, less is more, but automation of gameplay is not the solution.

For example LoL can be one of the highest skill games in the market with Q W E R and autoattack as abilities. Wow does not need 40 buttons and automating the 40 buttons is not the solution.

Yep, fixing an video games rotations with automation should not be the answer

But more concerning Imo is the matter of what else becomes out of this as this obviously will have bigger effects on long run but on what degree. So far automating any parts of gameplay have not been allowed (even though they have been allowing auction addons for some reason even though they have been know to slow servers)
