If you think people are so stupid they’ll get stuck in the system once started, how can you even think they’ll ever learn their character the normal way? What you describe is simply a non existant issue, and it should not affect you in any way.

A recommendation for what to use next is not a bad idea. I’m quite sure addons doing that already exist, probably like the one Ion mentioned. While it will slow down their rotation as they have to keep looking at what gets highlighted, this will teach them muscle memory and show them more clearly what they’re actually doing, allowing them to delve into why that button would be the optimal one to press. They’ll learn their class.

Look. What they are doing is so stupid and pointless that there is only ONE reason they are even attempting such a thing:

They want to port WoW to consoles to increase player number. Thats literally what they want to do.

Its not new players. Its not casual players. NOBODY. Its console players. And you cant fit more than 3 skills on your console at the moment. So… they are fixing that.

This does not teach them anything. No muscle memory, since they’re not getting used to new keybinds. They’re not getting used to resource management. They don’t know the difference between a single target and AoE rotation. They don’t know what abilities synergize. Everything that deals damage is 1. They won’t even know what ability they’re using because 1.7 seconds is barely enough to see the icon let alone understand what it really is. And as they progress using the Single-Button Assistant, it will become harder and harder to get rid of because as they progress, the content they’re doing becomes more challenging and they haven’t even started learning to play without it.

They do not need to know that because it is not aimed for the players that want to learn. They already explained for who that one button rotation will be:

Those that do not care about throughput and want to do their solo content.

Those players do not care about becoming better, they just want to farm their gold, want to farm their mounts, want to play their RP. They play a different game than you.

For everyone else that plays the game in any way that throughput is important, this option is as irrelevant as GSE is.

Yep, fixing an video games rotations with automation should not be the answer

But more concerning Imo is the matter of what else becomes out of this as this obviously will have bigger effects on long run but on what degree. So far automating any parts of gameplay have not been allowed (even though they have been allowing auction addons for some reason even though they have been know to slow servers)

They are not trying to fix anything with this addition. They already said in the video that they WANT the game to have that big skill ceiling, they just want to raise the skill floor for players that do not care to learn the rotations.

It is already in the game with GSE, and everyone that used GSE knows that it is a dps loss to use it. This will be an even bigger dps loss because of constraints by blizzard.

Thats all great and all but what about the other things I mentioned this having impact on. As you thought to quote me I imagine you read my post.

To what degree will we begin to allow automation next and will this have impact on detecting current cheating and will this create opportunities for cheaters to use some of it to hide and lastly will we start becoming more lenient towards programs doing automated gameplay for us in future after getting more used to game becoming more automated. That is my concern.

I imagine people can already play the game with minimal effort for those things you mentioned, I dont think we need to allow automation in gameplay for it (which has not been allowed so far)

Guess that’s why they invented CHAT GBT .
Here’s an Idea . Instead of this why not go full ham and just do integration with Chat GBT so it can just play the game for you . It will help you RP and See the story better , without the need to click ANY buttons at all .

Just let someone conquer you already and do everything they want for you . It can be Russia , Iran , China , AI , Aliens or whatever . I mean stop trying lol , seems like people actually want someone to do everything for them lol .

I imagine a future where people just sit infront of a screen with tubes in their cavities and just stare blankly being fed crushed insects or smth , watching Eurovision .

At least release a smartphone version of WoW where this will be mildly useful …

It will be a dps loss. For now. When they figure out how to make it a neutral dps, then they will remove the GCD penalty and turn that into the “X” button of the Playstation.

And then they will show up to your mythic raid and +10 keys.

This dev direction proves i was 1000000 % correct that game is just way to hard for majority of players and the skill Delta is just way way to big.

If this is their answer instead of severe pruning of classes ? Im ok with that.

Will gladly use this myself on my alts liek my rogue and mage which i have been always beyond horrible on - this will significantly improve my gaming experience on them .

This will be huge for wow future

Pretty much sums it up. If they want to do something else like raid then they can press their abilities like everyone else and its not world first to raid in most of the guilds doing hc so its whatever, everyone just does their best and thats enough anyways, doesnt matter if they miss some buttons from their rotations.

Ppl are creating macros with 3rd party softwares from their keyboard and the like to have rotations as 1 button which I think is already meh.

I play with 5 euro basic keyboard that doesnt have any of such and I press all of my buttons myself, I think thats kinda the whole point of playing a video game anyway to play the game themselves instead of script or bot doing it for them.

This is not botting yet but its automation, there is automated bot AI in pvp that ppl are running to cheat the game for eons now so I cant but frown at these type of decisions to bring more automation in game when I see the harm what the existing automation is already doing.

I will tell you why - for experience of game.

Its a bit a normal if you Play games to be challenge if dont benefit monetarily irl from it

Or alternatively, you can use the proposed “simplified” talents from WoW Head, reduce your buttons to 1234 and 2 procs and do triple the DPS and boost your parses to 60%.

And I just checked. This “simplified” talent tree with 4 buttons is the “default” blizzard proposed talent tree… you dont even have to go to WoWHead to get it.

How about that? Nobody has even considered that?

Why do we need this 1-button thing again? I just cant see anything else than a cover-up for the expansion of WoW to the potential console players. Especially since Blizz now belongs to Microsoft.

I gave few examples why automating gameplay is a problem in pvp when ppl are already killing totems or doing kicks via it and playing through minimum thoughtput. The news of blizz adding automation like this on game creates some concerns
