The state of glyphs

I like playing dress quite a bit, i like matching the appearance of my character to it’s class and spec, don’t like dressing my druid like a rogue, or my unholy dk to a warrior, so it goes beyond transmog, i like to make mounts fit the theme too, as a druid so do the forms, and I would like the skill appearances too.

If you go to my profile: you’ll see that my transmog is pretty well curated from different sources (not just an entire set) and it all comes pretty well together, forms too fit the theme, and mount also, as you can see it’s all about being a druid of the flame, these druids being so prominent in the game that two different patches and raids in wow’s history have been about them it would be dreamlike to have fire rejuvenation, fire regrowth, fire treants and so on.

Yet the glyphs have been abandoned for god knows how long, cosmetically speaking there is so much potential there, in my opinion, every single skill should have several different visuals, at least color tints yet they are so damn neglected, to the point that evokers, not only haven’t had any glyph in their own expansion but it doesn’t look like they are gonna have any on TWW… it’s just baffling.

I would like to think that this is due to blizzard having big plans for inscription rather than being totally forgotten…

I’d like that idea very much. Re-color your spells.
Same goes for armor really. A color wheel of sorts? There are even sets that don’t match. If there was such an option it would be amazing.

That also means that a priest could use void-smite? :smirk: or a druid go nightmare?!

If it helps, I second this idea.

Like diablo has, it would be cool indeed, it’s surprising that diablo has such a thing and no one at blizzard thought wow could have it too…

I’m not sure if that priest wouldd be lore acurate, disci has this thing with penance and radiance that changes color, tbh my lore knowledge is fairly limited to druid that’s been my main since 2008, so i don’t know about priest, but nightmare druid makes sense.

Clic the heart on the post! :stuck_out_tongue:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Ren’dorei (Void elves)? If I remember correctly. Void kind of hurts or is annoying for void related being? Wouldn’t it make some sense?

I support the idea!

Customizing is cool, but the system of glyphs is very outdated.
It will be fine if customization will work right out of spellbook, if character matches the requirements. Without any other crutches.

I guess it does, i’m not sure if smite or purge the wicked could be shadow, making it purple colored, but i’m pretty sure that devs willing, they would find a perfectly belivable way to make it fit.

Very valid point, maybe they could do that from the barber’s shop, another tab for skills.

somehow blizzard downright removed the glyph of wrath walk that allwoed you to walk on the ground instead of floating.
i loved that one because you could moonwalk by backstepping.
But they removed it from the game for no reason whatsoever.
some marketing guy must have convinced them that remocing it would increase revenue by 0000000.1 or something really stupid like that

evokers dont have any glyphs

feels bad for evokers

Speaking of glyphs, is there a way to change my Arcane familiar from that stupid bird to… anything else?

These are precisely the things glyphs could be used for.

More spell customization and flavor options.

Sadly, I think the current development team has abandoned the system entirely.

A big L.

i would love Glyphs to be unlocked via achievements and applied at the barbers

maybe killing mythic bosses could give you unique glyphs … like arrows shooting with rainbow trails etc

I can see glyphs being the main selling point of one of the next expansions.
But no “glyphs”, that’s old. HEROIC GLYPHS!
EMBRACE HEROIC GLYPHS! Unique customization option for your spells! Never ever seen before! Evergreen feature! Players can get five HEROIC glyphs for pre-purchasing Epic Edition of “Midnight” for only 100 euro!

I have also recently thought about Inscription and more specifically glyphs, and how forgotten they have been for a long time. As others have mentioned in this thread there is so much potential for more glyphs to be added, intead of having only roughly 5 glyphs per class as it is currently.

If people can think back to Wrath of the Lich King when Inscription was introduced, and remember the great variety of glyphs per class offered. Back then the glyphs directly improved the power of spells and abilities, but also cosmetic glyphs existed. Perhaps something similar to the WotLK Inscription design could be the key to modernizing the profession? That way it would make it really diverse and fun when you can mix and match, both spells/abilities and cosmetic glyphs.

I really think this way could be the revival to the profession.
