Stormwind Times

Your local weekly newspaper, bringing you the latest and greatest from our nation’s capital.

Near, Phar, wherever you are!

It seems last month’s prediction from the ‘Stormwind Times’ was correct, and the terror that was the Demon Lord, Galorphar of the Black Claw, has been defeated. The threat is no longer, as Alliance forces were sent out to deal a final crushing blow on the demon. His body was ripped apart and destroyed, reports confirm.

Our heroes amassed at the Lights Hope Chapel in the north where the Alliance mages portalled them into Galorphars own lair. The fight was being taken to him with the artefact, ‘The White Claw’ being used against the fiend, battle-mage Lessi Varr wielding it with furious efficiency. Rumours of a major ally of Galorphars betraying him and assisting the Alliance are all but confirmed, with the Guard seemingly having the suspect within their cells. Both ‘claws’ have been destroyed, along with the demon Lords whole realm.

Galorphar has been a major threat to Stormwind for over a decade. His previous defeat left him down but not out, and earlier this year he re-emerged far stronger than ever before. His attempt for power almost came to fruition when he attacked Stormwind on 25th July this year, and was close to sacking it, if it wasn’t for the effort of our victorious heroes. This major setback for the demon was the start of his fall from power, as he suffered defeat after defeat as the Alliance army took out his strongholds.

Much rejoicing was held in the streets of Stormwind when the news hit of his defeat, and the troops were given a hero’s welcome home, rightly so!

Market Day!

The 27th of September saw the streets outside the Mage District flooded with stalls aplenty, as the Stormwind Market opened for another evening of revelry. Among the stalls gathered, the Church of Holy Light raised funds for their various charitable organizations by offering slices of cake for the people of Stormwind to enjoy as they unwound for a long week. Aiding in the attempt to help the people of the city relax and recuperate was what this reporter considers the Best-In-Show shall of last month’s event, massages by Mister Cohlaz Valentis. Mister Valentis rarely saw a dwindling line, many heard complaining as the market packed up their banners and their attempts to enjoy his talents going unanswered. Perhaps he can be persuaded to re-open for winter’s veil. Gentleman, may I suggest an early present for the lovely lady, or man, in your life?

The Blue Recluse and the Pig and Whistle Taverns represented well with the former offering a drinking game and race that saw a boisterous enjoyment by all who participated. For those who would rather enjoy a game of chance, drink vouchers could be won through a roll of the dice at the Pig and Whistle’s stand. The City Guard turned out with Commander Curtes in attendance, offering the citizens a chance to speak and mingle with those who serve and protect them. A demonstration spar was also offered for the entertainment of all. Other notable stalls include a Pandaren Ale vendor, the Library’s book exchange, and many more. Another popular stall that saw lines aplenty was the mysterious fortune teller, with lines that rivaled Mister Valentis’, I suspect we will see more of her in the future.

The ‘Stormwind Times’ would like to thank Miss Kelinn for hosting such an event and look forward to the next. Rumours flow that a winter’s Veil Market is quickly approaching.

‘On Guard’ – our weekly city guard update

Congratulations to Recruit Annie Murphy for gaining promotion to the Guardsman rank.
Congratulations to Corporal Shalyer Umbrosa who surpassed two years’ service as a guard last week. One of the first void elves to join the Guard, she remains one of its stalwart mageguards to this day.

‘Light Bites’ – from the Cathedral!

The second virtue is tenacity. The adherence to this virtue is, incidentally, the part of training under the Holy Light that weeds out the unfaithful, as true dedication takes years. Fresh-faced acolytes often lose hope and the true meaning of the Holy Light when they realize that it takes a lifetime to serve the philosophy. The world is much bigger than one lone soul; and while the world can change a soul in a day, it takes much more time to change the world. Only through tenacity can a servant of the Holy Light hope to affect the universe. If some young students feel like this is an impossible task, others take heart in the realisation that if you truly believe there is a connection between the self and the universe, one cannot help but affect the other, no matter the size. Affecting the world can include anything from teaching and instilling hope in others to joining with other like-minded individuals to work together to create a bigger change.
The Principle of Tenacity: The world is too large to be remade in a day.
The Lesson of Tenacity: Perseverance creates strength.
