I started out in WoW when TBC was already out. I spent months leveling up as a ret paladin before stepping foot through the Dark Portal, and it blew me away at the time. All of Outland did, in fact.
I was too much of a newb (in the kind sense of the word) to be good at end game so I only experienced Kara and Gruul before WoTLK launched.
Needless to say I was more than stoked to return to TBC after WoW Classic.
Seeing as there’s a lot of like- minded people playing still I want to know: what is your absolute "TBC Experience"™. Could be focus on zones, rep, PvE or PvP in general.
What was/is your goal in TBC?
Mine was doing all the raids and getting a decent gear set. Wanted to soak in all the endgame stuff and the zones. I must say I had the most fun in phase 1, but that’s common in any expansion.
Make it to level 70 before next expansion
I am always easily distracted, want to see all, do all, level a zillion alts, learn all professions, fish, have fun with PUGs and guilides.
I know all the (relatively) low level quests inside out, I know all (well not ALL, but you get the drift) the nooks and crannies of the world.
Long story short: I have never ever succeede in reaching max level in Vanilla before the next expansion came tolling. My aim was to do this, but once again I was too slow or the expansion tempo too fast. One sad player here.
"TBC Experience"™ must be Nesingvary’s questline in Outland.
I’ve started to play WoW on private TBC server, so it’s kinda childhood dream to finish what I’ve started
Agreed on first part. It was cool adventure looking for upgrades, leveling professions, getting reps, earning gold but after that it became raid log experience. I disagree on second part - I say middle of each xpac is the best since it’s where most flaws are fixed and players aren’t godlike being (like in most last patches).
Main goal is/was to complete all the raid/pve content as back in original TBC I was purely a pvp fiend.
As a dad gamer I’m avoiding alting like the plague - TBC is actually quite a casual-friendly experience if you’re the sort that doesn’t mind focusing on only one character. I played most classes/specs enough first time round so I don’t really have an itch to play many of them again.
I totally understand why P1 is the most fun but personally I quite like the fact that after putting the time in I no longer feel obliged to play when I don’t want to. Modern wow went too far down the rabbit hole of forcing players to grind out endless power upgrade systems imo. With the choices we have as gamers nowadays I’d say that TBC design philosophy is oddly better suited to the times than retail.
Played long time with frineds, but sadly our server died and with summer behind corner people decide to disperse till WoTLK…
For now… Sittin… Chillin… It’s peaceful life alone, just hard to raid with all leftover randoms before reset…
To kill the “end boss” of each phase in it’s appropriate phase while being a member of a friendly raid guild. So far I’m on track, although both Magtheridon and Kael’Thas were much closer than I would have liked, half-way through the phase or later, because of a veritable slew of guilds falling apart around me in early TBCC due to inability to recruit more members, runing everything as glorified LFG pugs.
Now I’m finally a stable member of a stable guild with 3 stable raid teams and a semi-stable roster. It’s Kil’Jaedans turn, baby!
SWP h-h-h-hype foghorn
When TBC was announced, I returned to Classic to finish levelling, with the idea I wanted to raid in TBC and clear all the raids.
After rushing to 70, doing all the required atunements for P1, and clearing the raids, including pre-nerf Nightbane, it burnt me out. I took a 6 month break, missed all of P2.
My goal current goal is to play the parts of the game I enjoy, level a couple more alts to 70 in readiness for Wrath. Probably will keep playing the same class / faction for my “main” but might be a different character if Dual Spec is a thing from the start.
Simply to get to the same state as my original TBC character, same journey, same gear and items, and to basically relive the original 2007 experience as closely as I could.
Toward that end I only really had two main goals, the first was to get my Hunter to exalted with Netherwing and get the Netherdrake mount, and the second was to max out Leatherworking and make the Ebon Netherscale armor set. I also had secondary goals that I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to achieve, mostly involving getting the Wolfslayer Rifle from Khara and a couple of other bits. Given my extremely limited playtime I wasn’t really certain if even the starter raids would be doable.
But as it happens I’ve overachieved, as I’ve already done all of the above, and already superseded my original TBC gear.
I don’t expect to be running SSC, TK or Hyjal, all three are beyond me. But I do entertain the possibility of perhaps clearing ZA within the next few months.
