The Toxic World of wow PvP

Not sure if I’m the only one here who feels like this but I see WOW rated PvP becoming very toxic. Im starting to think when we supposed to play a game after a long day at work to relax this is becoming more competitive and stressful than a Job, in fact I’m getting more stress from WoW then any other game I played or real life work.
The way how Blizzard is making this PvP challenging and competitive is not healthy at all. The solo content in PvP supposed to be an advantage for solo players and make people enjoy the game not the opposite, in fact there are no difference between old way of LFG than solo queue as all depends on MMR which it self depend on others MMR.

Instead of making the game fun and enjoyable they made it intense and stressing, where a whole team spend a difficult time to win and in the end getting no reward due to MMR or losing one close tight game to be punished for next 3-5 games for rating not moving up trying to recover for last year game!

All this lead to people become aggressive, toxic, promoting a stressful and unhealthy community. This is not how games work and now how games goal supposed to be.

If the game is to improve solo players, then make it fun, reward players for their real activity on the game, flag capping, flag defending, flag carrying, dps made, heals made, damage absorbed …etc there is lots of things to track ppl activity in a game same as many other pvp games does. not for an illusionist MMR you have created that work like mad drunk 90 years old man, trying to note a game.

I feel Blizzard made Rated worse and stressful, totally different vibes compared than random fun and relaxed BGs

PvP is impossible to relax. It’s an activity where, whether rated or not, the goal is to compete against other players for victory. If you need a relaxing activity after work I don’t recommend doing PvP in this or any other game.

None Rated is nowhere stressing or toxic as Rated.

Firstly PvP is player vs player and is indeed competitive. PvE is when you are competing against the game world and its computer-controlled denizens. BOTH require victory to win/complete. As for the toxicity rot in PvP/PvE, I believe it is due to Pay 2 Play boosting communities (hence more stressful), IMHO. As we all know when real currency is involved It can get rotten! Remis of me not to say that some of these communities are outstanding, the ones I know(used) have awesome chars but more importantly great people.

Players take the lost of rating to serious in this game, not realizing that if they deserve to be at a certain rating they will get there again and that they are not as good as their peak.

They take lost CR seriously because to them also it’s wasted time. E.g. I’m malding my face off when a bunch of plebs lose a BGB game at 1.6 which I’d been wrongfully assigned after being largely positive winrate, “wasting my time” by butchering my cr and mmr. The same problem is in Arenas, you are fighting multiglads at 1.8 for rewards disproportional to effort, and all these tragic mmr shenanigans have led to pvp playerbase recession, thus making it much more sweaty, much less chill, and if you put it together with season-to-season mmr disparity, it has been made unrewarding on top of that, because you are not getting rewards you “should have”, as the perception of gradual progression and improvement is nonexistent. It’s pedagogically and psychologically incompetent and principially flawed design all around, and Blizz fails to realise much of the playerbase is well over 30 years by now, rendering them less able to “waste time”.

Play non-rated then. You can get the weekly conquest with the dailies and brawl/PvP quests.

People are so insanely over sensitive.

Mute/block and move on with your day.

If text in a video game is hurting you that much you need a therapist.

It’s kind of funny to see your own negativity bias in real time when you can be fuming over a loss or feel like nothing is going your way day to day, but if you look at some data website over an entire season the graph of your rating is pretty much a combination of linear and logarithmic, and things are actually going your way over the long term when you apply yourself.

Getting caught up in the minor details and the one offs and blowing the negative experiences out of proportion relative to the larger picture is just how the human mind is wired, you can’t blame people for being human.

If a forum discussion with no gameplay or anything else hurted your feeling to the point of becoming mean and starting to tell people to see a therapist, then i guess in your case a therapist wont help, a psychologist with long term treatment is needed.

Uhoh, looks like that one hit a personal note with you eh?
Weird way to self expose your thin skin but go on.

isn’t you been toxic here? as I said before, no gameplay, no rating, no MMR, no pressure on this forum, and you become toxic with people text and opinion. Wonder how you reply to ppl while playing the game. get a life mate. you’re trying to bully the wrong person mate, you’re barking at the wrong tree.
