No, this isn’t another unsub thread, I’m still grateful to blizzard for bringing back Vanilla and Classic is working pretty well for me.
I set my hopes high when the unpruning had been announced and it only took the release of alpha, as well as the repetitive nonsensical class changes they’re making, to crush them flat. No, sweet Blizzard, adding abilities at the cost of others is not called unpruning, this is in fact what you’ve been doing ever since WoD, and SL seems to be only slightly different. At the beginning I saw that only some classes did get their right share of abilities back, and thought that the others would follow suit. Now it almost looks like Blizzard are regretting their decision, and going back on it. The recent class changes were the cherry on top (or should I say the feather that broke the camel’s back), and the confirmation that this unpruning is nothing more than a lie.
Obviously it was too much asking to go back to MoP’s class design, and I really feel stupid for ever thinking that it would happen one day.
For whoever is happy with the class design SL is offering, I’m glad for you and wish you to enjoy it. I personally know I won’t, because yes I’ll be playing it since Classic sub allows me to.
MoP’s class design was horrendous. The game does not benefit from having so many abilities that our keyboards fill up with so much CC and utility that people spend 80% of their combat time being in CC in arena or BG’s, or where we have 7 defensive cooldowns and 6 offensive ones (that we macro together, of course)
If you want it to be like Classic, which some of your post leads me on to believe, then what needs to happen is that extremely streamlined and simple, yet powerful, spells, need to be replaced with spells that are less streamlined and more situational, but also more unique.
And that is exactly what they are doing. Well, with the exception of Covenant abilities, but otherwise it is.
Overall I think we can say that we were left with more, even after removing a few stuff - unless I’m not aware of new changes in the last few days. Sure, some classes were rushed or just reskinned (Warlock, Rogue), some specs weren’t really fixed, or generally has useless changes (Retri, Feral), but it is the best time to give specific feedback.
And going back to MoP design wouldn’t help the game at all. Going back to Cata or Wrath actually would. Not 100% cooldown regulated gameplay, clearly distinguishable classes.
Wasn’t much better in mists either, when you could still have 99% dampening and not die
Do you know why the corruption retard meta is actually better than what we had even in Mists? Because people actually die in this patch, instead of everyone being livelords.
I’m not saying the current state of PvP is great though.
On a technical level, you are. Players had full agency over what they are doing. But on a gameplay level, you are not.
That is why people are leaving feedback… because we want to avoid the poopshow when it’s live.
No. On paper, Mists seems like a great PvP expansion - but then you introduce numbers, gear, proccing effects and whatnot into the equation. When you do that, you are left with comps that can live with 99% dampening, people being livelords on any class and spec, and that random BGs are ruined, because healers are topping people in 1-2 button, in a time where Mortal Strikes were nerfed.
I have given up on this game anyway. Class design is atrocious and will continue to be. Especially with them relying on feedback from the average Joe. You need big brains to design a game of this scope.
Sure, that helps too. I’m just saying that having big brains isn’t a neccesary thing.
Then those healers were bots. If they don’t press CDs, of course they’re going to die. Sure, you can catch healers off guard when they don’t have CDs, but MoP was the beginning of the era of healers ruining BGs.
I agree though that healers are too powerful. I don´t believe games going into dampening would occur otherwise. Remove healers form arena or nerf them relative to dps.
The opposite. Buff DPS. I’m tired of Crusader strike deaing less than 1% HP damage. Even on cloth. Which is why I’m saying that WoW needs to take a lesson from Cata and Wotlk design - where you were baseline strong, and CDs were finishers, not enablers. This includes all 3 main specs - tanks, healers and DPSers.
Blizzard lied about un-pruning because they didnt return every ability I’ve ever enjoyed
That’s now how it works.
You don’t go from 6 rotation abilities to 12 in one expansion jump.
And you’re definitely speaking for yourself, as an Enh I am extremly happy with the changes going into Shadowlands.
