As compared to season 1 and 2 this season 3 has been much more fun at least for me
Were worse expansion than dragonflight, which were worse than shadowlands and shadowlands were not great either.
I throughly enjoyed it.
the narrative was all over the place and I found the undermine content to be filler, but in terms of gameplay I was invested and there was a healthy amount of content to keep me going. As someone who is significantly older than when I first started playing wow, the Delves are a godsend in terms of endgame content I can enjoy in a pinch.
I only played TWW a month ago. I quitted DF at 10.0 due to the long queue of solo shuffle
- The questing was kinda mid, mostly dragged down by the parts with Earthens. Their way of speaking made me literally yawn. Hallowfall’s and spidey’s parts were kinda good.
- I still haven’t finish TWW campaign so IDK all the story yet
- Major city is kinda boring. The design is too safe like the one in DF
- Map design: I dislike ringing deep because the view is extremely boring. Understandable as it is underground, but still. ID is again too safe. AK is consistent to the theme, but still boring. HF is cool but no portal so meh
- I don’t do high level PVE content at all, but the story mode experience on Dimensius is a big surprise to me. The fight is quite cool and the music is as great as “the other MMO”
- PVP is kinda messy. Vers feel useless on defensive side. Cant tell about the overall balance
- The change on unlocking gear transmog along with delves allowing transmog for mythic set
Definitely a good expansion for me, but I didn’t play this at anytime sooner so I could be biased
The core idea of warbands (alts) died in infinity Turbo Boost grind. RIP!
Those are only longer now, you also have blitz as second soloq where you can wait for now.
Blitz is perhaps the best of them two but has more people abusing que syncing and wintrading games.
Blitz was semi decent idea but they left it vulnerable for que syncing and there is nothing done on the modes que system to prevent que syncing and this is now the future of rated PvP if this is what killed arenas.
Tww so far was another soloq mode to wait long ques for random gameplay.
It is nice content but people surely have abused it .one of the reasons I don’t touch pvp anymore . I get my pvp urge and tonic from ow2 when get that urge
It was great on paper but as usual the implementation sucked and failed to a degree that it ruined any fun it provided. Its like they dont have anyone left who get paid to think. If they leave que system without penalty from declining invitations then obviously people will abuse it and que sync to rated games through discord communities. Its unreal this is still happening and nothing done about que system.
Same with arena shuffle or whatever it’s called .as healer even after winning my ranking and mmr was not changing
much
The 6 round design is moronic and mmr system dont really work with it. They should had made soloq for arenas like people asked for 8 years instead of create something separate and name it shuffle with 6 rounds. But of course this is it now, they are not even fixing their que systems to stop wintraders freely entering blitz.
I would say its on middle ground for me. 6/10.
Was better than wod, sl and dragonflight.
Overall I would say good expansion. 8,5/10 easily.
But I am a collector, so I give e.g. warband functionality more weight when judging compared to someone else.
The system changes were simply good for me and more is coming in Midnight. Housing means a lot of additional stuff to collect which I like to do.
The playable content itself is average, our typical seasonal treadmill, I liked Undermine a lot, original, good music, fast racing… imho the best was Season 2 content. Here I was not expecting any miracles after 20 years, in the end it was good playable content and design in TWW - 7/10 from this point of view.
TWW is like SL/DF like expansion.
Lore - “netflix-like content”
Gearing - tool not a process, boring trinkets, boring items, boring enchants
Class designs - overdesigned
Raids - Fun, love it especialy Mythic ones. Broodtwister was hella fun.
PvP - Dead, unfornately
WarMode - p-ssy mode is still here no Warcraft anymore but friendship and relations
M+ - Fun but affixes are boring as hell, I miss volcanic, explosive etc…
Delves - Single player dungeon, not bad
Professions - Good idea but useless especialy after 2 weeks of expansion.
Low count of cool animations like Queen Ansurek.
Great Vault of dissapointment - annoying gamba
Renown - Rewards are most of the times just useless, You get Hero ilvl craft thing while you have Myth track equipped. Pure crap design.
TWW is decent, not super but not bad. Aye it trolls when they put Khadgar in to arcane wheelchair and strong onehanded woman slaps enemies with shield like crazy.
Not very remarkable. The main issue for me was Kharesh. Normally i enjoy a lot the last zone of every exp. Karesh was … meh. First time i took a lot of time to finish the main questline (yesterday).
Oasis quests were boring and unnecessarely long.
I dunno, didn’t the story kinda just go in a circle and land us back where we started? Lots of stuff happened but little of it mattered? We beat the fluff out of the big bad like we’ve done for 20 years and Xal is now just another goon with a masterplan that will amount to nothing.
Time to come home? I dunno, I came home and realised my folks might need a housekeeper coz this place is a mess.
Where is my epic story Chris? I’m still waiting.
TWW is pretty much DF 2.0. It repeated the same pattern but a bit better.
Delves are very good, M+ changes are good.
Very forgetable story, with 3 disconnected chapters. I found the Undermine atmosphere cool though, Dimensius as a boss fight was cool too.
The writing is as terrible as usual.
14/20.
It was Good and Bad at the same time
Was the expansion any good? I would say “Largely no”.
The main story was largely mediocre with dull and uninteresting characters, that ranged from being “Just there” to being the embodiment of all modern day character design that everyone with any standards absolutely hates.
The Undermine patch was probably the only thing I really enjoyed out of this whole expansion, but even that saw Goblins being probably their most neutered selves, with very little in actual goblin mischief going on (The stuff with the lawyer was pretty good and good goblin mischief, but the rest? Eeeeh, hit or miss).
I can respect what they were trying to do with some of the events they released over time, but it was largely just an activity that seemed mostly throwaway. The Visions of N’zoth were fun to play through again, but that was BFA content.
The Legacy of Arathor quest chain was an absolute abomination, and I hate that Humans can’t side with Trollbane and tell the hippies to flock off.
I didn’t play through Karesh because… I have no interest in playing the game.
I give the expansion a C-.
It has been a bit meh for various reasons. Had it not been for delves, I would have quit in season 1, which might have been the better choice.
Mixed bag for me, but since I am still here, I guess they “did” something good for my type of player:
- Story: I consider it average-to-bad. It’s still non-warcrafty and overly disneyfied. Liberation of Undermine was actually the high point for me. Bonus points for actually implementing a lot of funny moments, like the snide Kobold in the Ringing Deeps and the “getaway” quest in Undermine where you throw stuff from the car.
- Music: A step-up from Dragonflight. Overly good. It could be more ambient in the overworld in general, like it is outside of Dornogal to the east.
- Delves: The absolute highlight of the expansion for me.
- Dungeons: A definite step-up over previous expansions in terms of theme
- Raids: Interesting as usual. But the cutbacks are evident in terms of number of bosses and length of the raids themselves. Hell, Liberation of Undermine was 70% just the overworld map.
- QoL: 2 steps forwards, 5 steps backwards. While the game is becoming increasingly more welcome to players who only care about only 1 piece of content, maybe 2 at max, it becomes increasingly unplayable for players who want to participate in everything, especially collectors/completionists. And the RPG feeling is being eroded even more in favour of “Action NOW!”
