I agree. The timegating is ridiculously long to a point, where it feels more stressful than fun
you are only timegated till the 1st 100 coins has been collected though. thats what 2-3 weeks into a event that is gonna last 77 days

Why did they decide to make quests weekly?, i thought 1. bosses would drop 1-2 tokens per kill and 2. most quests to be daily not weekly, this is absolute horrific how they handled this event compared to earlier anniversaries, as a player since 2005 i’m very disappointed in Blizzard.

The gaming community really lost it’s standards. Why would you indulge and even defend predatory marketing tactics as FOMO and Time-Gate which are created to trick you and waste your investment. Me, I am done, I gave this game another try this expansion, but I really regret it, my subscription expires this week and I am glad that I didn’t buy a bigger package.
A 20 year celebration event, highly advertised, meant to bring back Warcraft veterans turns out to be yet another time gated, disrespectful BS for a paying customer.

And you know what? I’m going to be absolutely fine.

Boy do I wish, Dragon Age is coming out very soon and I’ve been waiting 10 years but now I gotta login to do anniversary stuff…
I do think you should put some effort in but I do not agree about gate-keeping extra coins for normal/heroic raids so they get them faster. I also think that the first x amount of weekly activities you should do can award tokens but not every weekly i.e. PvE and PvP as people haven’t go that amount of time to do everything in a week.
I wish we could earn the initial 60 a bit faster. I’m currently sitting at 44 Bronze.
Op, I think you are forgetting something else that is gated, the 20% xp buff, which was promised, but you need to finish a quest that needs to be filled up by doing tons n tons of other activities…so for those who wanted to level alts, they can either throw in the towel and they will be stuck with 10% buff instead (quest upgrades the buff to 20, per character, only lasts 12 hour, not the entire event…) which makes this no different than the 10% buff you get from the darkmoon faire…some anniversary that is!.. but if you decide to stick it out n finish this quest, you will blow through any rested xp your alt has…
Tomorrow is pay-day for me, and for many others, maybe I should go purchase black myth vukong or that space marine 2…for clearly having played wow for 20 years doesn’t reward good customer service…you would think they’d treat their customers better, but no…

You can sit in that basket for like 5 minutes and it fill the bar up by reading a book in real life, or something (still way faster than anything else).
I had to play on alt tank to actually get into timewalking, those dungeons are a bit long imo I think other timewalkings are faster.
Overall this screams “GRIND GRIND GRIND” just by doing this on 1st try, I like those remade classic sets and would love to get them all but how long would it take? Grinding for hours each week, how many weeks? 4, 5, 6? Thats just insane for a cosmetic reward.
Not to mention this is supposed to be a celebration and nothing feels like it. The whole system feels overstudied and calculated to timegate as much as possible.
