Thekal is Full. Please add shards

It is impossible to play this game with your friends.
Some may debate that shards are evil. But currently I can’t even play the game that I pay for. Four of my friends already cancelled their subs because they can’t get in.

I propose a solution:

  1. Add a realm <Fresh PvP Realm 1>
  2. When it fills up, block new characters and another <Fresh PvP Realm 2>
  3. repeat
  4. All these realms live in a shared shard group, so you can play with other people in this group via /invite or battlenet.
  5. When some realms start dying because population drop or bots you can just merge them.

If you don’t like shards, just keep waiting in the Thekal queue. You don’t need to ruin the game for other people with your own opinion.

No, please add just one (1) new PvP server for EU. It will help a lot. In case of emergency, connect both servers name-wise and consolidate them later on. But weekend without a second EU PvP fresh server will be terrible for thousands of players that are in hour long queues or don’t even log in because of that.

Pretty sure Thekal already has several layers / shards active, which doesn’t help at all at the moment.

Another Fresh PvP realm is a MUST.
But why do you start your response with a disagreement?

We need more sharding on Thekal! When I started the came Thekal was RECOMMENDED.

NOW I’m stuck waiting hours in queue after a work day. Try combining a family, work and queuing. Practically no game time at all.

100% needs 1 more pvp realm. Its only Friday afternoon and queue already 5k+

It isnt. Huge amounth of players now play just becouse of hype and will quit withing few days. Its better to have queue times then have healthy amounth of players on single realm than open up extra new realms and end up with dead realms when hype is gone and tourists will leave.

If they’re going to quit within a few days, why have queues?

Becouse realms have capacity?

An arbitrary one maybe. You could fit 20000 players into Hillsbrad.

Finaly someone understands real problems.

No you couldnt. Realms would lag and you wouldnt be able to finish single q.

but its only 1 day sicne prepatch?Just wait a fiew days lol

Don’t talk out your hole.

Why not wait a few days to have a queue?

I’m sure the fact that fresh will eventually end up like every server - populated by bots, gold buyers and raid loggers - and the playerbase will contract.

But tbh, that’s probably 8-10 weeks away and I’d kind of like to play in that time.

9.2k queue now, estimated wait time 227 minutes.

What about people who wanted to play on fresh server during pre-patch.

Im in the same position. After work and family i have like2 hours in the evening to play.Waiting for 4 hours to log in the game is pure stupidity. Like the OP said : new servers should be created and combined if needed when the hype dies...and lets be serious, wotlk is the most popular expansion and classic is the ONLY thing keeping WoW alive…

Change my mind:

Blizzard announces fresh servers via a subscription based model. Having a queue time of 4 hours means you don’t deliver the service that you are selling to the people. It is the same as that a server would be down for 4 hours.

TLDR: Blizzard is not delivering the product people have bought due to longer queue times.

We go through this song and dance every time, Fresh is at its highest population right now, it will only go down from here and eventually the queues will be gone. If they open too many servers they fall into the trap they’ve already fallen into with 2019 classic and SoM. Once the inevitable exodus of players happens after the freshness wears off you’re left with empty dead servers, which players then complain being dead and a waste of space.

I can understand why Blizzard are being so conservative this time around. It’s risky adding more servers because they will know that populations will drop off after a few weeks once the tourists stop playing.

That being said, Thekal has double the queue length of Gehennas, which is the biggest EU server. So I can see them maybe adding 1 more PvP realm in the near future if they think that the queues will still be there even after the player drop off, we’ll see. I can see why they’re hesitant.
