Theory on Chromie and Future Expansions

I really like the direction that blizzard took with the lvl squish and my theory is that lvl 60 is going to be the lvl cap for all of the incoming expansions. I believe that on every new expansion the previous one is going to be downscaled to lvl 10-50 (our chars lvl included) and the new expansion is going to get us to level 60 again.

I don’t know if you like it or not, but from a development point of view this is the only option that they have. If they keep adding content they gonna reach again ridiculous numbers and that is not maintainable as proved. After 16 years the game has so much content that you can not simply add more and more and expect the player to progress in a linear way through all of it.

What are your thoughts on this? Sounds plausible? Do you have a different theory?

I honestly do believe this is going to be happen. I honestly hate it since it feels like I’m not progressing anymore through levels, they could have just chillied down with levels and were adding 5 more levels per expansion and not 10.

I like the idea but the perfect max level should be 69 for obvious PR value.

I assume now average age of Wow player is 30+, so we need some meme value material for younger player base.

Pretty sure that theory has been around since the level squish was announced.

Honestly, the number that sits unter my character name doesn’t matter to me.

What matters, to me, is how long you take to reach max level, how long you take to reach the current expansion and how the gear progression, powerlevel / dps increase and similar goes throughout the expansion.

If they manage to create a better experience throughout an expansion and don’t have to add three layers of mechanics to ultimately have us deal over five times as much dps as we did during the first raid of an expansion, they could generate random levels (we all know how much Ion loves his random) for each player to assign, and I’d be fine with it.

Whatever level we are, whatever level we end up being, it honestly doesn’t feel like it matters anymore.

I think Chromies interactions with time and space will eventually disolve the timeline and we will all end up on Classic realms and its rinse and repeat for 17 more years.

Yes, I would prefer that.

I think, instead of doing that, they could do something similar, without the need to keep squishing levels.

They could add „Masteries” for new expansions, like in guild wars 2, the level cap has always been 80, but they just added new stuff and specializations for each classes…

I believe that it would be better if they just focus on story and just add new spell-specific zones

Nope, sounds boring. I wanna gain stuff with each expansion, not have everything reset and just start over.

Can you explain how this mastery system would work? I never played guild wars so I don’t really understand what you’re saying.

Google is your best friend.Took me 10seconds to find it.Just search for GW2 mastery points

Well it’s simple and really fun actually…

Masteries have been added in guild wars 2 on its first expansion.

So basically, once you reach the level cap (80 in this case), a new tab opens up and you can choose which masteries you want to level up (depending on the expansion you play on).

What this means is, once you fill up that mastery bar (by gaining exp) you are able to unlock the specific mastery you selected by spending a special type of “currency” that you can gather doing by achievements or other PVE or exploration.

here is an example
