THEORY: the ONLY reason we are still alive is because of spirit healers

our characters should be at least 35 by now, and that is if im being generous. we went through so many severe wounds, sickness and death. we live in a medieval world where 30 years old is already old. and yet we are still alive. how is that possible ?
spirit healers. what if everytime we ressurect we also recover, not only we recover completely, our body is also losing some of its aging and fatigue, and our spirit/soul as well. we basically become brand-new but our skills, memories and strength are intact.

It’s a huge misconception that 30/35 was old in the middle ages. Sure, people often died young but living up to 80 or even older wasn’t unheard of at all. As for spirit healers I’m not sure. They might be 100% a game mechanic as far as I know.

If your character dies in RP and you just go “Naaah, he’s fine. There are spirit healers, he’ll get back up, he just needs to find his body from the nearest graveyard.” most people will, with good reason, call you a meta gamer.

Soooo best not use that IC.

I completely disregard dying when RPing, I call it ‘knocked out’, or worst case scenario; my character stops breathing and has no pulse, but is revived by a medically or healingly competent ally

I’ve spent way too much time raising these individuals, to have them die on me

On topic, though; I totally believe that our heroes see some weird stuff when they’re unconscious

I don’t mean getting reduced to 0 HP during combat events, that is, yes, very reasonably just a knockout.

I mean actual character deaths, in not RNG based RP sessions.

But character deaths can actually be just fine if done well. I’m usually pretty accepting of char deaths if I’m fine with how they go down.

There is of course a small cast of characters I’d very much prefer not to have killed off, because of the consequences to others’ characters without their consent and because of the high sentimental value they hold to me.
But I’d still go along with it if the only other way out was meta.

I am much too fond of my characters to let them die :flushed:

Well demon hunters can’t really die if not killed within twisting nether, right? So it should be possible to kill them and after a while they should be able to resurrect.

I don’t use in game mechanics , the reason i am still alive is because i have a hard time dying and found out a very long time ago at my first death i was immortal and stoped aging then that is me.

Common misconception as Rorick pointed out. And 30-35 is maybe significant for humans, orcs and pandas, but for elves it’s like tuesday since they can live up to thousands of years.

Back to the topic, my theory is that spirit healers are just cruel creatures. We’re just playthings, insignificant specs that exist only to amuse those vile creature’s lust for sadism so we stay locked in this perpetual cycle of pain, suffering, death and resurrections…

JK, gameplay reasons. Nothing else. It’s the same reason how I can tank 30 foot tall monster and not simply get stomped.

Not every demon hunter, actually. The player character and Illidan have that because they’re special.

It’s supposed to be rare, but not impossible, I believe.

But if you want your character to have an immortal demon soul, you shouldn’t do it to just have a safeguard to be able to keep playing him after he dies (and even so, if you’re not on Argus or Marduum or wherever, it should take either decades or centuries for you to “resurrect”. Remember it took Illidan from BC to Legion, when he was killed on Outland.)

But if you really want to consider doing it, ask what the immortality would do for your character’s… well, character.
If they can’t die, are they bitter because they’ll never be able to join their loved ones in the afterlife? Or are they arrogant about it and become cocky?

If you can’t think of a good addition it would give to how you play your character while they’re alive, I don’t advise making him immortal just for the sake of it.

The most epic death of character is when you ask blizzard to delete your whole account . That one is permadeath of everything .

Except; It’s not a medival setting: it’s high fantasy.
As for Severe Wounds and sickness? Magic mends many things, body and sometimes soul. There’s also medication and high technology. besides: most races lives to around 100 iirc. Where some lives way longer.

I don’t get where the huge misconception of “Medival” comes from.
