Theramore should be rebuilt!

Theramore was one of the most important cities in the lore, it was a bastion of peace and one of the most iconic Alliance locations in the game (even if lorewise it was neutral until Cataclysm, game-wise it was Alliance). It was also the original Teldrassil, Theramore was the OG “Alliance city nuked to kickstart an expansion”, and we’ve been waiting 10 years for its reconstruction.

Right now some of the effects of the Mana Bomb still linger in the area, but give it a few more patches and it should be cleared out. Varian actually had plans to rebuild Theramore after SoO, and I am pretty sure i read somewhere in the BfA table missions that both factions tried to build a base on its ruins, so it is not one of those forgotten locations nobody cares about, there is an active efforts made by the factions (Alliance mainly) to restore it. Also that location still holds a lot of meaning for the factions. It was near the ruins of Theramore that Baine handed Derek over to Jaina, and it was near the ruins of Theramore that the leaders of Alliance and Horde gathered to plan SoO 2.0.

Also honestly it should be rebuilt just for the symbolism with Jaina. Theramore reflects Jaina’s state:

  • WC3-WotLK: Jaina is a pacifist, Theramore is a bastion of peace.
  • Cataclysm: Jaina joins the war, Theramore starts raising armies to fight abroad.
  • MoP-Legion: Jaina is broken and alone, Theramore is destroyed and its ruins are abandoned.
  • BfA-onward: Jaina got over her trauma, it is only logical that the reconstruction of Theramore begins to reflect that. Plus, since Jaina was accepted back into her family, it’d be good to rebuild Theramore using some of the Kul Tiran aesthetics to truly show how Jaina is no longer a monster in the eyes of her people.

Realistically this is unlikely to happen, since Blizzard updates the old world only sporadically, and unless there’s another faction war (God no), I don’t really see what relevance Theramore could have in Blizzard’s eyes. Maybe if they make a new plot with Silithus/The Blade? It was one of the closest cities to Silithus, that’s one way it could become relevant again. Consider this a dream of someone who just finished playing the Bonus campaign in WC3 and feels nostalgic.

They don’t put work into something like that, if it isn’t tied to content. So… if you want your Theramore, what catastrophes and quest lines do you want in the area?

Also, I want a restored Loch first. Content? Erm… Mongrel Horde.

Theramore and all of its people are pretty much dead. Not to mention. Jaina got promoted to Lord Admiral. I wager she got an upgrade from her old title already.

Well Forsaken need new home, so I guess Theramore could work as their new hub.

A lot of civilians were evacuated before the fighting started, only a few of them were caught and brutally enslaved by Garrosh’s troops.

Also Jaina doesn’t have to give up her Lord Admiral role if she wants to restore Theramore, it just sounds logical. That place is a key strategic location in Kalimdor and there are many people who yearn for the chance of going back home.

They weren’t mentioned again afterwards. So I simply assumed Garrosh captured their ships and used them for target practice.

Wowpedia says this:
" Some citizens survived the destruction of the city and were captured and tortured by Garrosh’s Horde."

That is possible, however I doubt that not a single ship got away. Theramore was a big city with many people living in it, some must have fled to safety, they’d be making it a bigger deal if Garrosh somehow captured every refugee from Theramore.

Why?
Jaina has already moved on to Boralus.

This. Can’t see it happening. Theramore will rot along with Camp Taurajo.

Not a fan. Theramore was a failed experiment, let it rest. If Alliance was supposed to get some old zones, it should be in Alterac, Gilneas and Lordaeron. The way is open with Stromgarde standing once more, Eastern Kingdom is our fief.

I’d be okay with that.

Nah.

The Alliance having a fortified military base right at the edge of two Horde cities is not exactly an endearing thought currently, I imagine.

It could lead up to a fifth war though  :ok_hand:

You know, if I could write the lore for just, like… one moment this is what I would do with Theramore.

So, it was established in that Thrall Saurfang outland cinematic that outland was dying.
So, all of outland becomes one of those mega dungouns, like Kara and Mechagon, The planet is falling apart and the point is to try to save everyone.

Sadly Tyralion and Khadgar die as they try to save all the fleeing living creatures from the breaking of outland.

Valen with Akama save all the broken, Thrall and Rexxar Save the Ogres, those two become new allied races.

Now with the death of Khadgar the leadership of Dalaran is gone and a power vacume grows, and some shifty blood elves tries to take it over.
That one Windrunner sister that no one remembers moves her high elves to stop them and take over the city cus she is still a bit upset about the whole death of her husband manabomb thingy mathing.

Forgotten Windrunner sister takes leader ship of Dalaran and land it in the crater of Theramore and make it a high elf city.
The Ogre from Outland makes their new ogre city under Rexxar at the boarder between the marsh and the Barrens, revamp the whole zone and we can get a new BG with high elves and Ogre something something Marsh fighting. bla bla bla something something.

Oh yeah, and The night elves can retake all of Feralas, Diremaul is retaken by them and becomes the new night elf capital and we can rewamp that zone, sending the rest of the Ogres there to flee and join their brothers and sisters in the new Rexxar ogre city bla bla bla, something like that too…

Doesn’t sound like a bad idea, also fits thematically with the whole arcane Mana Bomb thing. However I feel like Dalaran should remain a flying city, if they want they could have it hover Theramore and oversee the reconstruction of the city (though that seems unlikely to happen due to engine limitation).

The Alliance having a fortified military base right at the edge of two Horde cities is not exactly an endearing thought currently, I imagine.

It could lead up to a fifth war though

Oh if Baine and his friends have anything to say about it, they are invited to try.

But they don’t, let’s be real.

This. Can’t see it happening. Theramore will rot along with Camp Taurajo.

Well I mean, it’s not really the same thing… one is just a small camp, the other was actually a pretty important city in the lore.

As long as something new happens and any characters but humans get the spot light, I am so sick of the “hUmAN pOtEntIal”.

Show the true magic of the night borne and blood elves, screw Jaina and Khad.
The strenght of Dwarf or tauren warriors, not Wrynn fighty fighty boii.

Let the Draenei show their power with the light! not OOOH HUMUN PALADURR Turalyon Tirallayon Trublblublbuyon what ever your stupid name is…

How sad is it that the strongest of any class is human.
Well, maybe not Shammy, but Thrall is basicly a human as he has eyebrows.

Plop Dala down in the crater, make it an high elf city ( yeah I know, that we are pretty burned out on elves, but dude, these high elves have been with us for so long in the lore, they need the real love)

As a die hard hordie fanboi, I also want a faction that seem worth fighting, give the lion some damn teeth, make the night elves and high elves get much of southern Kalimdor in a murdering spree, let them have Feralas and the marsh.

spliting the factions by continent is silly, we need the warfronts.

well nah, But Dalaran could land there and become some sort of neutral hub for both horde and alliance to negotiate things, also if horde felt like attacking Dalaran for some reason it would not be as easy as it was whit Theramore. or alliance for that matter if Anduin goes berserk for a change.

Wouldn’t it? The last time they only needed to smash some protective spells and Archimonde could solo it wih a single spell afterwards.

Alliance already has pretty much all of eastern continent. Now you want to give them rest of Kalimdor. Are you a masochist or an alliance main in disguise?

Wrong. Warfront was a bfa only thing. And we don’t need more pointless faction war. Separating factions by continents is infact very smart.

Ah if you want fewer humans, Dalaran is what you are looking for. You mentioned high elves, but you could mention any race really. If you look at Dalaran in Legion, it has a lot of racial variety, so much so that I do not even consider it a Human city anymore.

right right, ofcourse I would have the Night elves lose their northern lands, ashenvale, darkshore, winterspring all now horde, and horde still holds alot of Northern Eastern kingdom.

For the Horde furball! loseing is not a bad thing, it could make for more enganged story telling, why do everything have to be 50/50, oh no muh hurde bias, uh nuuh muh ulliunce bias!! And let us be honest here, this war was a damn joke, I know we are supposed to be buddy buddy peace time now with the alliance, but I can’t I hate the alliance now more than ever cus they are WEAK! they won another war, but claimed no land back, asked for nothing, it does indeed make them very hard to respect. all was forgiven cus… Baine and Baby Wrynn be good fwiends, stupid…

Tyrande is right! a peace treaty can only be signed with the blood of the banshee! and she is welcome to come and try and take it! My axe is thirsty for more elf blood!

The opinion of some dirty furry sand rat matters not! war and conflict could have been done well with better writers and better execution of the story.
Learn your place in the horde.
