There are always these 2 lurking in the shadows

every time you check a forum post, if the subject interests you. you start reading different people’s opinions and what they think about, discussing it. then comes these 2 that start fighting each other back and forth forever post after another trying to force their own opinion on the other person flooding a post making it unreadable for the rest of the people. I can’t be the only one upset about that, sometimes I have to scrolls skipping and ignoring their walls of text but the post was already dead once they appeared.

I don’t see any problems with walls of text as long as they are discussing something…

If it’s just walls of “You’re stupid because reasons”… Then it’s a problem…

It’s fairly common to have some back and forth between two (or more) passionate people in most threads. Unless the OP means there are two particular people who do this in every thread? Haven’t noticed this myself… Must read more forums!

problem isn’t the discussion, i like me some discussions. problem is “i smart you dumb” then replies the other “no i big brain you stupid” as

That

Like my epic reply to Ceranity’s if your char was an NPC? I think we can all agree that was a Holy Moly someone take Souldefìler’s keyboard away for gawd’s sake moment.

And if people are derailing threads with Kyle VS Cartman virtual slapping I just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Derailing topics is as common as night and day on this forum, people start to comment what others wrote instead of sticking to the topic, but this is modern posting, using forum like a chat rather than statements full of information

Isn’t spraking discussions one of the points of forums posts? Everyone is welcome to join in. From my experience, everyone is replying to everyone.

I feel personally attacked

Who are we talking about? I know you can’t name and shame but that barely narrows it down.

It wasnt me! :eyes:

I might be going senile but this is hardly a new thing, see i am even doing it here.

As for the OP, sometimes on these forums some of the posters seem to illicit stronger feelings in other posters than is really healthy which, coupled with the fact that we are required to post in English even when it isn’t always the poster’s first language, can make things derail into massive walls of text which boil down to “I’m right and you’re wrong”. This is even worse when they break down the other’s wall of text and reply to it piecemeal.

Just pray that your middle scroll wheel remains strong enough for you to skip past it as I cannot see it going away anytime soon.

exactly this. now replying to eachother is pretty normal, you reply to Xitro, i reply to you, someone reply to me, someone reply to you again. thats all part of the discussion. the people i’m talking about -and i don’t have anyone in mind it just happen quite often to be noticed- they fight like 2 roosters at eachother, have you ever watched 2 roosters fight? its just like that.

The best one are the threads in which the two posting keep saying “this is my last reply” and “I’m done with you” and yet it keeps on going. We need greater awareness (and use!) of the ignore function!

Also we need someone to link a video/gif of this please  For research!

Yeaaah it’s @Sinaaki. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I really want to see two roosters fight now, by quoting paragraphs at each-other and issuing rebuttals that may or may not be particularly valid. I think this would be amazing. Anyone else?

I enjoy reading well thought out discussions without provocations, threats or insults. If the posts are literally walls of text, even better. Still, I understand your point of view, the discussions quickly go astray in the forums, unfortunately.

I think that’s what you get when it’s a place with repeat contributors in the numbers around 20 to 30 people. The equivalent of a class room in high school, but without any real consequences.
